Wow, Uncanny X-Force was hard to read. Sad as hell.

So going back to Dial H.... You guys were talking about it so I decided to get the four issues on my tablet. The first issue I was like Hell yeah this is good. Then all this shit started happening... Is this a new franchise? Am I missing something here?
AvX VS 5
Hawkeye v Angel was blah.
Storm v Panther though...Even as someone who hated the marriage, that was pretty bad.
First off, it's really disappointed to see it reduced to nothing but a fist fight because of prep time. :/ Especially since in a straight hand to hand fight, Panther should wax Storm.
Storm: "If only we had had children." Really Marvel? Come on now. Storm is so much better than that.
Panther came off a little too cold. Like JJD said, having Storm tearing herself apart on the inside while Panther is just like "Shit happens. Woman wasn't that great anyway" made him seem like such a dick.
The kiss was out of nowhere and felt forced.
Why were the X-Men allowed to just walk out of Wakanda? If Panther had anti-mutant plans on some ToB Batman shit, why didn't he just disable them and lock them up? This was during the search for Hope, so it wasn't like they had Phoenix power watching their backs.
Lost his marriage and had his country flooded...I bet Panther is really regretting rejoining the Avengers.
Other pick ups for the week include Aquaman and Cap Marvel.
At least it's over. One day we'll get a retcon saying that it was a Stormbot for these 7 years. If Doom can have infinite do-overs, then so can Storm.
Ah shit!

I am shocked. SHOCKED.
Ah shit!
DA FUQ?
I wonder if this has to do with mystery red-head on All-New X-Men cover.
EDIT: Wait, what if Rachel and Hope get merged into Grey Summers???
Look, I like BP. I do.
I'm really sensitive to the racial dynamic in comics. Hell, in real life, (non-black)people have tried fixing me up with other people simply because we were both black, so of course I hate that. Gluing John Stewart to Vixen was like..."wha?" But I didn't feel like it was forced with BP&S. I felt like they could have made it. They did have chemistry. Storm and her strong black king, and T'Challa could not deny that he had a worthy queen. Yes they were on separate teams, but that doesn't matter. If they weren't then the marriage would have seemed truly forced. I don't feel like they were at odds with each other either. It wasn't a bad situation, it was just awkward execution in the eyes of some. Plus a failure to DO anything with the dramatic construct they created, except to tear it all down spectacularly. If this was how it was all going to end, I would rather that they hadn't made the attempt.
the marriage always seemed forced though. the mega event, the f4 run, all of it
Dean White confirmed today's issue was his last for the Uncanny X-Force
Sad news, man. With alllll the different artists we've seen over the past 30 issues, Dean White has been the guy to make it all seem consistent, there was a definitive, dark look to the series, and now he's gone to color Captain America and Thor

EDIT: Also, looking at the body, it has to be Hope, because no self-respecting comic book artist could draw Jean Grey and resist making her ample bosom and curves as near to Liefeld as their reputations permit. Which is a roundabout way of saying that girl's too skinny to be Jean.
But isn't the hair too long and Curly to be Hope?
Not surprising.

sorta wanted to get that Green Lantern annual and get back on Green Lantern argh..
This week's issue was jawdroppingly excellent. The beginning of a Third Army and wow...
Many of the 12th issue ends of the first year of New 52 were amazing today. But I don't bother posting about them anymore.

Question: Are you reading Corps and New Guardians? Does Third Army make you want to? I'm slowly thinking about just reading Green Lantern, which i think is a solid book and am enjoying it more than some of the Brighest Day pre new 52 stuff.

Haha as an addendum to the AvX VS hate, apparently Warren was written as if he didn't have amnesia and was no longer the somewhat young and naive character he's been since. Anyone that stumped for it confirm?

I'm not sure that I wouldn't trade all of those pluses for Power Girl, Zatanna, Secret Six and the old Birds of Prey, however. I guess for me Nu52 is a real mixed bag with some clear positives and some clear negatives. It's great to see that DC is selling well again. Without this it seems like they were on a slow and steady spiral downwards.
Beechen gets a lot of flak but his fill-in issues were really, really fun.Zatanna was already disappearing regardless of the New 52. Dini was either losing interest or over-extended between comics and TV shows. There were so many fill-ins in the last few months it was ridiculous, so we really didn't miss much once the New 52 popped up.

Worlds' Finest is pretty ace, especially the parts with Maguire on art, and it's got Power Girl.
Zatanna is in Justice League Dark, which fucking rules what with Jeff Lemire writing.
Suicide Squad fills the Secret Six niche by being pretty fucking crazy.
New Birds of Prey is pretty kick-ass.
So, you know, there's things for everyone. That's COOL AS HECK.
