Looks too much like just a guy in a suit, unlike the original which actually looked like a machine.

I was thinking the same thing, to me it doesn't look bad but hardly "Robocop", it reminded me of those suits on G.I. Joe, I mean, really? Robocop suit? It was not a suit, it was a robot FFS

On the bright side though, the original RoboCop is still awesome and just as good as ever.

The best thing about this, is that on the eve of it's release we'll get a GOOD Blu-Ray version of the original Robocop, instead of the shitty version that's out currently. The same thing happen this year with another Paul Verhooven classic Total Recall and it's slick, mediocre reboot.

The helmet is fine, but the problem is that the numerous small overlays and lack of color distinction on the articulations makes it look like a suit. Also the material looks rubbery, maybe it will look better in the movie.

I think an update can work fine, he's probably going to be even fast and able to run or jump. That's fine, it's basically supposed to be a super cop, but it must feel like it is a machine. That's all that really must be preserved: a ghost of a man in a police robot.

Maybe it will feel better in a trailer, but so far I don't feel like the chances are good.

I'm hoping it'll look better in the movie. It's not nearly as iconic as the original. It's pretty boring as it is.

Anyway, I'm still hoping for a good movie.

I'm with the others who think it just doesn't look anywhere as good as the original suit. You could see hinges and hydraulics and all that on the old suit, this just looks almost like a padded wetsuit.

Jealous of the Glory that is Johnny Depp
what's the point of this again? the original is an all-time classic, the rest are shit.

also this is not going to have Kurtwood Smith. what's the point, really?

Will withhold judgement until I see it in a trailer and not just the guy walking around in between takes.

Edit: couldn't this also be the suit he has before he up grades to 2.0?

The new helmet looks like it covers more of his face, so we'll probably see him with it open more often, which would negate the emotional impact of finally seeing it exposed like in the original (I'm projecting here). It doesn't look as machine-like as the original. I want to hear gears working and see exposed pistons!

That's not iconic. It's generic. The original suit is iconic.

It's only iconic because of time. The original suit looked good and, well, original. This literally looks like (rejected) art design from Crysis or Mass Effect.

i cant think of the last solid black robotic machine with a bright red visor ive seen.

and yeah, pretty much. any criticisms about the texture of it are kinda pointless at this point.

What if they Predator - Ultimate Hunter Edition us? My heart can only take so much pain!

Take off the visor and would you be able to tell it apart from any other suit/robot from a recent movie?

I haven't read through the thread but I imagine it's a depressing sight of virulent hate.

I think it looks quite cool and I dig the modernized take at the OG helmet.

well, that doesn't look like Robocop. This trying to make things modern sucks the charm out of many things :(

It doesn't look bad, but it doesn't seem like Robocop.

It looks kind of like Iron Man, GI Joe. A little generic looking.

yeah, its all black. very iphone. every recent robotic character ive seen has been bright metallic.

but you cant just take away the visor, the visor makes it. its like talking away hals red dot.

Nothing of it recalls the original, and it's not very imaginative. It's not bad, but it doesnt fit the role.

It doesn't look like a robotic machine. It looks like Commander Shephard out for a stroll.

What? Of course you can take away the visor. They took away the visor in the original movie and RoboCop was not lost. The body is still very iconic. Hell, you could tell it was RoboCop just by seeing his foot coming out of the car.

This is just another lazy, generic design.

Reminds me of a futuristic Batsuit from the Nolan movies. Don't care for the color, wish it stayed sliver, but that would be the nostalgia talking.
