Here is the link to Swedish Gamereactors review. I wrote it and I'm a huge Dead or Alive fan. At least normally. This one got a rock solid 6 from me though. We've grabbed the screens ourselves b t w, the character models are gorgeous but the backgrounds is way to simple. Also, no anti alias at all. Really bad picture quality.

If it had more AA would it have gotten more points?

I don't read reviews, other then gaffers opinions for many years now, but 6/10 - you don't fuck around. I'm curious what you found wrong.

$5 for 4 sounds about right for DLC costumes, but I think they'll be single character packs with a few out every few weeks. So like Christie pack/Tina pack/Lisa pack one month, Kasumi pack/Ayane pack/Kokoro pack the next month, etc etc.

EDIT: Bundles would be cool too. So like "Get all three packs for $12!" That'd be great.

I can't imagine them dropping multiple costumes for a character at once. I dunno, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

EDIT: Also, whilst I understand why you'd want to pimp your review for a game on a popular forum (Particularly one which is potentially controversial), most people here won't know Swedish. Just sayin'.

Oh, I can. It's not the type of thing that needs to be drug or would benefit from that. Ond of the key things you always hear about DLC is you have to put it out while the gsme's still hot. The fans who are playing DOA because they genuinely love it will do so no matter what. The bros who'll get the game on a whim because pretty girls fighting don't hang around forever and don't typically return. It might not be all four, but it dSmn sure wont be one at a time unless they do packs like Swimsuit Pack/Formal Pack/Casual Pack/etc etc.

Proudly debt free. If you need a couple bucks, just ask.
I wonder why only Lisa / Tina / Christie got unlockable swimsuits. Big breasted characters only?

I see things are not detailed on the review and not explaining the changes of the game between 4-5. Gameplay is similar but then again its part of the territory of fighting games. Change the whole fighting system and you'll be alienating your fanbase and shooting yourself in the foot. Its not as fast /smooth as DOA4 I think its probably for the better. I didnt see explanations or clear explanations of the new mechanics at it (critical burst, power blow, Sidestep)

The game is a bit harder to get into maybe its probably cause its not a clone of DOA4. Learn to play DOA5 and not try using DOA4 as a base system (Which BTW its a terrible game to use as a standard)

The major complainment seems to be aimed torwards the simplistic backgrounds and lack of AA and I think that shouldnt be the major factor into the game if said game plays well and its fun.

Obviously I'm reading it from Google Translate so I might not be completely understanding everything at it since some things are obviously lost in translation but most of the complainments at least on the pros and cons area are torwards visual aspects and not gameplay related.

No offence just pointing out some stuff out.

It's more smooth and just as fast. They added more frames in the animations. Hence why some people feel it's slower.

I thought it looked fine in the videos (And I've watched a good amount). The only thing I've noticed is that people seem to enjoy jittering around when it's saying "Get ready!". It looks pretty weird because of the more complex idle animations. Can't be helped if you want responsive controls though.

It's not as smooth as DOA4? :(

I dont know if its properly written since google translator is crappy but the review mentions its not as smooth as the predecesors if that is the proper translation. Also mentions jerky and not entirely composed.

I don't agree with the review since I played alpha version and seen some of the tournaments and things look as smooth as DOA4. Don't really know where is he getting that from.

So have said most of the people I have seen with the game.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. If the game will get bashed by reviews like this one (well, at least as this one sounds if read through Google Translate :p) I'm gonna be so sad and disappointed. I don't want to believe we still live in a gaming-world where there is room for just one big fighting game at time, and in order to push the other one down - I wouldn't call a 6/10 'rock solid'... That feels pretty lame. An 8, a 9: that's what I mean by 'rock solid' - we have to be picky about backgrounds (btw... They look gorgeous to me! ^^).

Game looks like it has awesome backgrounds and simple ones; seems like an excellent combination of both. They might not be my favorite in the series, but in a series with backgrounds as amazing as DoA has had...not really saying much.

The backgrounds might be artistically simplistic, but they're still technically amazing. The amount of detail is really impressive.

My Gamestop is doing a midnight release, but I think I'll just pick it up on my way home from classes in the afternoon. Gonna play it on night since I don't have any classes on Wednesday.

My roomie is getting this from GameStop, but he desperately wants the preorder outfit for Ayane which is Amazon only. He couldn't go Amazon because GameStop is the only retailer offering the limited edition. Could someone help him out and trade preorder codes with him? He's really bummed because he loves Ayane.

I'm torn on this game because I'm not in to fighting games, but I really really love the cast. The girls are adorable and really fun to fight with. I'm officially in love with Ayane, Hitomi, Helena, and the new girl Mila. Hopefully they other ladies won't pick on her too much ;)

They added more frames in the animations? Is there a comparison somewhere? Not sure I understand what you mean.

"Lets see if watching that kinda works."

I don't think there are "more frames in the animations" though, unless they made the animations longer which would definitely make the game slower, not just as fast.

The animations themselves are more fluid.

Damn that sucks if true. Itagaki would not have let this happen.

NG2 sub HD with framedrops, DOAx2 framedrops everywhere.

Its the best looking game team ninja has ever made, complain about something else.

Maybe he means the animations have more keyframes, rather than in-betweens, resulting in a more fluid animation whilst maintaining the same speed?

This. They're more than fine.

For me, it's the best looking fighter this generation. Although SC4/5's IQ brings it to a close second.

I don't know if I'm gonna be flamed for this, but I might say Mortal Kombat is one of the best looking fighters this generation. I always thought it was really slick the way the story stuff went seamlessly into the fight during story mode. Plus I really think it's cool the way the losing fighter just gets up in between rounds, and it doesn't cut away.

You're probably in the minority with that opinion, but there's nothing wrong with you holding it.

Making it short and in english
+Its a good fighting game that is accessible and can be addictive
+Visuals are outstanding.
+Story mode that works as a tutorial and its kinda like MK9.
-Game plays the same
-Brings nothing new to the table.
-Lacks game modes.

Aaaand that's a negative why?
