Thanks for the clarification about Jojo, guys !

So I first posted here a few months ago saying that I didn't know why I don't really watch anime regularly since childhood and was trying to re-discover japanese animation beginning with Chaos;Head. I was at the time watching the first episodes and fearing that the show wouldn't deliver as much as it promised. And since I shamefully never dropped my final input on it...

It delivered. And didn't deliver.

The whole thing blew me away and will indeed be remembered. It even broadened my limited scientific culture by forcing me to google about the Dirac sea.

But after all is said and done, and altough I highly regard the show, it would maybe have needed a genius to hit a perfect with how crazy the plots where. To better explain my relative disappointment with the final, I will simply paraphrase a line from Borges I read some time ago that stuck me : the solution of a mystery is always less impressive than the mystery itself.
And there is the fact that with writing material like that, one could have hoped for a show that went ballistic with its fight scenes. Sadly not the case, the fights are really meh for the most part and don't really help the final episode. Here I was watching a show that throwed all sort of crazy writing ideas and twists at me, and at the same time didn't really elevate its fights scenes above you typical super powered show.
And maybe, surely even, Chaos;Head needs to be watched several times, or maybe I too dumb, or maybe the writing failed on that part, but fuck, at the end I had still not understood the 'why' of the premise
(the nurse killings and the protagonist's visions on the crime scene)
.

Chaos;Head was still a terrific experience I wouldn't hesitate to call a must-see.

PS. Ok I'm lazy and don't really want to take screenshots myself to make a better post, so : is there a ban on google images on this topic ? I don't think that would make my post so much cooler, but this here is an ugly pile of text.

You don't have to produce your own images in order to post them. Just make sure that the images don't violate the usual GAF TOS in any way and you'll be fine!

I wish I could help to answer your questions on Chaos;Head's plot, but it's been years since I've seen it and I've subsequently forgotten what it's even about. Hopefully someone here with better recall than me can engage you in discussion.

Kannazuki no Miko - 12 [END]

Are you kidding me? I went through all of this shit just to get an
Angel Beats epilogue
? This is like Yami all over again where I have to watch a girl go through so much shit only
to have the love of her life taken away from her
because some person thought it would add emotion to the story. Souma was an uninteresting sack of shit that was nothing but an obstacle and the main source of Chikane's grief. Yet this bastard
made it out okay when in reality he should've been fucking dead after he was consumed by Orochi's influence
. But no, because of the writer's fantastic idea of having
the world reset when one of the priestesses die, that asshole is still there trying to knock boots with Himeko.

Fuck this show, fuck the person behind it, fuck everything. 2/10

Wow, it's back. It feels weird that it's late in the week instead of Monday though.

I find it interesting that they managed to find another manga arc that serves as a reintroduction to the show. Last time they had Shinpachi be "confused" because everything around him changed and now it's Gintoki's turn. And it just works because it's a way to get people back into the show without having to do an actual reintroduction.

It's just nice to see a good adaptation for once.

Ok, the protagonist may be aggravating as hell as others have already mentioned... But MASSIVE RESPECT for the guy who thought it was a good idea to put Konstantinos Kenteris, Gustavo Kuerten, Andre Agassi, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Andy Roddick in the game's rankings - because it was.

Also, Jexhius celebrates:

Meh.

It wasn't bad, it just wasn't... good like i expected from all the reviews/people opinions.

It felt kinda unfinished honestly, i liked the setting, but i don't think it was fully used or fleshed out. It's a character-driven show, but Raki aside the characters were either boring or kinda just... there. It definitely needed some Utena-level cast.

K 1

This was a below average, largely uninteresting episode, failing to satisfy in many areas, while succeeding in only a few. Although, despite the plethora of failings in this introductory episode, it still managed to be occasionally entertaining.

So, by my estimation, this poor excuse for a hardly noticeable plot involves
two rival factions that have unique powers, and one or both of these groups is pursuing the main character, Shiro, who, accompanied by a naked girl/cat named Neko is, at the end, revealed to have been some sort of demon king that killed a friend of one of the particular gangs
. I could be considerably flawed in my view of these points though, since the story never relaxes into explaining these developments in any sort of coherent manner. The final scene was quite intriguing, as it leaves the episode on a mysterious cliffhanger of sorts. However, despite how interesting said revelation was, I don't really expect anything other than a contrived, pointless reasoning for the hugely contrasting behavior involved. Basically, the story is entirely uninteresting so far, further diminished by the extremely poor pacing, as it jumped all over the place without a semblance of cohesion.

Aside from the non-existent story, there was no character development or any sliver of characterization at all, since there's no time spent on actually establishing them. Perhaps these characters will become well-rounded as the story progresses, but I'm not entirely sure I'll be patient enough to wait for this uncertain eventuality. No matter how evidently hard it tries, this clearly isn't a Baccano or Durarara, in which the strong writing and direction is able to balance the presence and participation of so many characters.

The animation was rather impressive, yet needlessly tarnished by the atrocious, ugly filters that permeated the entire episode. The music was another relatively strong element, and, as such, the OP was terrific; easily the best part of the show.

All in all, K is entirely focused on the stylistic approach, with very little, if any, substance to accompany it. It's slightly enjoyable, but ultimately devoid of intrigue. I'll stick around for another episode or so, but it's a likely drop for me at this point, unless it improves considerably, since there are many shows this season that are immensely better. It certainly has the potential to improve, but I'm really not expecting it to, unfortunately. The worst show of the season by far.

BTOOOM! 1

This was a mildly enjoyable, but thoroughly mediocre episode. Although entirely unoriginal, the premise is quite interesting and engaging. However, the execution is flawed and noticeably lacking, thus creating an unfortunate contrast between it's potential and ultimate realization. Despite the exciting setting and the intriguing theme of survival, it struggled to hold my interest, mostly due to the clunky exposition and unnecessarily drawn-out introduction to the rules of the
virtual world
Ryouta is residing in.

The main character, Ryouta, is somewhat dull and unlikable at this point, but hopefully that will change as the story progresses, since I'm expecting a considerable amount of character development for him as the story progresses. The lengthy amount of time it took him to realize that his bombs, in fact, did rely on timers, was ridiculously moronic.

The production values are largely poor. As such, the direction is stale and uninspired, lacking any sort of creativity. The animation is decent, but unspectacular. The artistic elements, for the most part, are faded and visually bland. In terms of pacing, it actually worked quite well, but faltered whenever exposition set in.

All in all, Btooom is decent, but rather unimpressive so far. There's an over-reliance on explaining the most tedious bits of exposition pertaining to the world. The preview doesn't inspire much confidence or anticipation, but I'll wait until the character introductions are complete, and hopefully, by that time, the show improves, as it definitely has the potential to do so.

Zetsuen no Tempest Episode 01

Well that was definitely one of the most dramatic things I've seen in a while.

This wasn't exactly bad but I just couldn't get over how melodramatic and sensational a lot of this episode was coming off as. Even the music, while very good, just felt a bit too bombastic and stately for some of the scenes that they accompanied. Overall though, I liked it. The structure and storytelling didn't feel very confusing and I felt what was presented so far was pretty easy to follow. The character designs are pretty solid for the most part and the action scenes were definitely well directed.

It's unfortunate that I keep hearing the story goes downhill but I'll be sticking with this show for the time being. It feels very ambitious and I'm curious as to where this all goes next.

What do you mean by unfinished?
The show is intentionally ambiguous.

Mostly about the setting, the stuff about the wall, the Toga, the ancient writing, etc.

I know it wanted to be ambiguous, but it felt too ambiguous. Maybe if it didn't constantly taunt the watchers with questions. (Rakka many times ask herself about the nature of the world, only to oddly give up her curiosity in the last half)

I remember someone comparing this show to Fantastic Children, probably that's why i was expecting less ambiguous and more self-explanatory.

I started to think that too, but I changed my mind a bit once they action scene between Mahiro and that lady popped up. That part was awesome.

and that should more than make up for the lack of kingdom gifs for the past few weeks. it's nice to know they saved up the cg budget for this "explosive" episode. next episode looks like it'll be a really "action packed" one. oh boy, i sure can't wait...

While they could have explained more, in this show I'm glad they didn't.
As hosanna said, its a story about afterlife and mystery and ambiguity are part of why the show is as effective as it is. This is one show where not giving away everything works well for the narrative.
I think ABe intended for the audience to feel as uncertain about Glie as the characters did.
