Fall 2012 Anime |OT| Meet the new world, same as the old world

Thanks for the clarification about Jojo, guys !

So I first posted here a few months ago saying that I didn't know why I don't really watch anime regularly since childhood and was trying to re-discover japanese animation beginning with Chaos;Head. I was at the time watching the first episodes and fearing that the show wouldn't deliver as much as it promised. And since I shamefully never dropped my final input on it...

It delivered. And didn't deliver.

The whole thing blew me away and will indeed be remembered. It even broadened my limited scientific culture by forcing me to google about the Dirac sea.

But after all is said and done, and altough I highly regard the show, it would maybe have needed a genius to hit a perfect with how crazy the plots where. To better explain my relative disappointment with the final, I will simply paraphrase a line from Borges I read some time ago that stuck me : the solution of a mystery is always less impressive than the mystery itself.
And there is the fact that with writing material like that, one could have hoped for a show that went ballistic with its fight scenes. Sadly not the case, the fights are really meh for the most part and don't really help the final episode. Here I was watching a show that throwed all sort of crazy writing ideas and twists at me, and at the same time didn't really elevate its fights scenes above you typical super powered show.
And maybe, surely even, Chaos;Head needs to be watched several times, or maybe I too dumb, or maybe the writing failed on that part, but fuck, at the end I had still not understood the 'why' of the premise
(the nurse killings and the protagonist's visions on the crime scene)
.

Chaos;Head was still a terrific experience I wouldn't hesitate to call a must-see.

PS. Ok I'm lazy and don't really want to take screenshots myself to make a better post, so : is there a ban on google images on this topic ? I don't think that would make my post so much cooler, but this here is an ugly pile of text.

Watch Steins;Gate now. It's in the same series of science visual novels adapted to anime.

Surprisingly strong last handful of eps that actually had some closure. It would have been good series if it had this sort of consistency throughout. Shame it mostly sucked.

Clannad

I've never seen so many sakura petals, flocks of birds, split screens, and passing trains. Expected something terrible, got a decent enough film about a guy reminiscing about
tragedy and loss
. Kinda liked the use of seasons/weather to reflect events as well as the piano version of the Dango theme. I can only assume Dezaki was able to transcend Key, or worse, I like Keyshit.
The fact I teared up a bit at the end doesn't bode well for me!

Also lots of postcards!

Best character.

Sorry, Negator. 00 Gundam movie is clearly worse than this!

I need to watch this and the Air movie sometime; I'm curious to see exactly what spin Dezaki put on the material since obviously you'd have to change things up pretty heavily to fit expansive VNs into the length of a movie. I also actually like the Clannad VN for the most part.

The dango song is irresistibly charming.

Damn Sword Art Online light novels are selling well

Dat anime effect. I really wonder how well the anime itself will sell.
More like they're finally starting to slow down again after having been boosted into the stratosphere when the anime started airing few months ago. I think this is the first time since then that any of them fell out of the top 30. But yeah, the anime itself will sell truckloads.

I'm more interesting in Tsukimonogatari selling 117,362, seeing as the last novel in the seires, Koimonogatari, sold 140,323 back in December. A small drop.

Oh I had no idea he did the Air movie too. I'll have to check that out.

Regarding Chuunibyou, a lot of people seem to like the scenes where Rikka "opens the door" and such, but it's the scenes like this that make me happy.

The way his shoulders drop just before his head does and his lips press together (as much as they can in anime, anyway) is one of those small things that I really enjoy seeing in animation. They're just small touches, but I personally think they do a really good job of making the scene feel more "human".

Also, everyone seems to be focusing on the craziness of Rikka, but the scene I liked the most was the last one. I really feel like it's the scene that promises the audience that there's a story to tell behind all of the crazy antics. It also made me like Yuuta a lot more, since he kinda reminds me of what I was like when I entered high school (that is, I tried to be overly serious and "mature" and thought that my younger self was really embarrassing).

I'm starting to appreciate what (I think) the story is trying to do a bit more now. Using something humorous like chuunibyou to approach a story about how one becomes comfortable with himself growing up sounds pretty obvious and trivial, but I think the natural contrast gives the story a strong foundation.

Yeah, coming of age stories are pretty played out, especially in anime, but I like them anyway :). I personally like how Ishihara directs (I don't know how much of it is Maeda's writing for the Key anime though), so I can't wait to see how the anime will handle the obvious impending romance and the obvious coming of age story.

Re: Cutey Honey - 01

Wow. This episode was packed with action, humor, and tons of fanservice. The art style is interesting, as the heroes look Lupin-esque while the villains look like they belong in Panty&Stocking. From scene transitions to fight sequences, everything is ridiculously colorful and adds to the upbeat vibe that emanates from the lead Honey.

The two heroines and my destined pairing to be.

One is an aloof office girl by day, superhero by night, the other is a gun toting, authority wielding badass 24/7. If there's any justice in this world, something will develop between these two. ;_;

That isn't the theme of the episode.

Instead, Yamazaki stars as co-actor in the next The Dragon's action movie! Pretty amazing by Sunrise.

I'd really like to see Leader Dragon again outside of ed cameos... I guess all parody characters are obligatorily one shots though. I don't think any of them has ever returned after their one time in the spotlight... it doesn't help that he was anime filler. (The original manga chapter ends with the test segment, when he's mentioned all the time, but before he arrives and is revealed to be a member of the Katsura's group) - although I guess the ed cameos mean that at least he wasn't completely forgotten.

Kannazuki no Miko - 12 [END]

Fuck this show, fuck the person behind it, fuck everything. 2/10

I'm tired of suffering. ;_;
This is very hard .. the guy get friendzonned and the girls find themselves after the reset and lives happy afterward ?

2/10 is really harsh .. Especially when you consider what chikane did to save her beloved.

Man that is some terrible CG. Blue is a fairly likeable character in a bayonetta sort of way.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (2012) ep 1
tumblr_mbg3m6e1uF1qfkktpo1_500.gif

Some of it feels pretty retro and the setting but I kind of like the visual and style the anime has going on. The way stuff pops out with random symbols when characters are introduced or something, or how water droplets will sort of sparkle, or how other stuff happens when characters receive powerful stunning blows and impacts or just how the backgrounds will change and then characters are bathed in different colors to fit the mood.

Anyway Dio is really amazing and blows JoJo out of the water. I hope he gets significant screentime. Probably my leading reason to just keep watching. I kind of feel bad though considering
he just treats JoJo so bad, out to steal his inheritance or whatever, ruining his image in front of everyone, being better at just about everything than JoJo, and then even stealing the kiss from the girl, hitting her, and then getting into a fight with him and burning trapping his dog in the trash pile. Poor JoJo. Though I didnt think it made sense for Dio to lose, he was still more powerful so theres no excuse for JoJo to have one, then again I guess if he just felt empowered because of all his losses and the girl, then acceptable.
. Will keep watching and glad I gave it a shot.

Actually, this is a show for which you don't require goggles at all.

I may have been a bit harsh. When my anger fully subsides I'll look over my post and re-adjust my score.

Blue is soooooo awesome.
Romanov is a talented guy.
Pity it was only one episode.
But 70's exploitation + catgirls = a TON of fun.

Air the Movie is the best KEYshit in existence! Dezaki is (was) the man!
I may be biased just because I genuinely love dat Air OP song, though, and the movie is shorter than the tv series. It still isn't very good.

Noted. Tempered expectations can carry me through the worst of things.
