Rock Band DLC Announcements

I was excited to check this thread and see a Madcatz sale, but no guitars except Pro Guitars (I just bought a Pro Guitar but want a standard one for playing non pro songs).
Hopefully someone in the B/S/T thread comes through for me.

Anyway, Pro Guitar? About as tough as I expected. I made it through the first tutorial section and am now on the second one and at a wall. Changing strings and frets is not coming easily for me. Doesn't help that I hate all of the fret buttons and end up strumming like 3 strings with every movement of my thumb or pick. But I will keep at it.
The guitar is definitely terrible for non pro songs though. I need mah 5 colored buttons.

Playing an actual guitar chart requires more than "gaming" skills?

The normal 5lane guitars drop usually exactly on Black Friday. I got the Woodstrat last year for 40$ that way. It's normally 200-300$. It's pretty good, but the strum bar has so much tension it's actually more tiring than a real guitar to use it :lol

At one point in my house I had:

- The Squier Rock Band Strat (real guitar)
- The Mustang (fake real guitar)
- Woodstrat (real fake guitar)
- Xplorer (fake guitar)

to play Rock Band with.

Yeah? That is why I said it is as tough as I expected?
I never thought it would be easy. I went in to it knowing that.

If I can't nab something from the B/S/T thread or eBay, I will wait until Black Friday. I did see wooden guitars that where $49.99 a couple days ago but can't find the site now. Need to go to work and dig through my history to find the site.
So far I have had (not counting PS2 guitars): an Xplorer, Les Paul, Strat, and a Mustang. I prefer the Les Paul to the Xplorer and Strat I guess.

But also you kinda talked shit about the guitar itself beyond your ability or your expectation. Like it couldn't live up to its goal.

No. I hate the feel of the plastic frets and end up pressing multiple buttons or strumming multiple strings. Because I have dumb fingers.
I wasn't trashing the guitar at all. Well, I don't like the feel of the frets but that is because they are like 102 buttons and there are spaces in between them. If I sprang for a Squier I would have real strings and not have to worry about those spaces. So that is my own fault. I wasn't intending to whine about them though.

Edit: The guitar is terrible for standard charts though. I was prepared for that though. I asked someone on a different site (would have asked here had I had internet access at the time) how the pro guitar was for standard charts and he said it worked, but that it was uncomfortable and he didn't like it. I was hoping I would have a different opinion , as I hoped I would enjoy using this for Pro and Non-Pro and then not need to buy a new regular fake guitar (or have mine shipped here from home), but frets 1 through 5 are cover way too much of the neck and are too big for me to comfortably play regular tracks.

Turns out we actually got Kenny Loggins "early" (I put it in quotes because it's not like we were promised it at a later date)

hmxhenry said:
Kenny Loggins was not originally intended to hit this week (he was scheduled for later in the year), but we asked the DLC Production team to fast track things so people that already owned GD:RB would still have the option of purchasing some new content. Shuffling the schedule isn't always easy, especially on 4-6 weeks notice, and it's even more difficult to pull off when you're already submitting 40+ songs, so hats off to them for the quick juggling act.

Surely, there were better songs from the 2000s to represent the rich history of that decade than a Crossfade song.

There's better songs to represent anything than a Crossfade song. Luckily the 2000s are already well, well, well-covered ground.

Jessica and Melt With You are awesome, but I am most glad to get more from The Band. Still hoping someday we will get Look Out Cleveland from them.

So come Monday we'll either know when the sale ends or know that it's a permanent price drop. Hedge your bets as appropriate!

And in keeping with the "cheesy 80s movie theme" theme this week, "St. Elmo's Fire (Man in Motion)" should be popping up on RBN later today.

Hopefully it is a permanent drop. I can't imagine some of those tracks from years ago are big sellers and I am one of the people who complains that old content on the XBL marketplace is never lowered after time, so it would be cool to see a lower price point for some of these songs.
There are a lot I want too. I have been putting off buying them though since I have already used half of my internet for the month (crappy Danish-ran internet, $250/mo for 9GB capped slow internet; used almost a gig the first day of the month downloading RB: Blitz). If the sale is permanent, I'll grab a lot next month. If not, then oh well. I'll wait for the next one in a couple years.

No difference, but the second is out of production (in favor of the first one) which is why it's more expensive.

Thanks for the quick reply! So that means I can buy the first one and I'll get the 3 cymbals? For a moment I thought that the first one was only the clamps and that I had to buy the cymbals separately...

First one, the official kit, is all you need. And once you get them and start drumming with them, it is like a brand new game. Pro cymbals is the only way to roll.

FYI: If you picked up Closer RIGHT when it went up, you actually got The Weight instead. Harmonix's fix this time (as far as I can tell) was to actually add Closer to the download and tell people to redownload the song.. So you got two songs for the price of one.

Next week's DLC:

Hey gang,

On November 27th, Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” will come to the Rock Band Music Store. This upbeat pop track originally appeared on Jepsen’s EP, Curiosity and then later on her smash full length release Kiss, and reached the top of the charts worldwide! The single will be available alongside Marcy Playground’s breakthrough single, “Sex and Candy,” from the band’s self-titled 1997 debut.

Additionally, the controller-based rhythm-action of Rock Band Blitz is now on sale for Xbox LIVE Arcade for a limited time. From now until November 26th, players can pick up Rock Band Blitz for 600 Microsoft Points™, 50% off its regular price! Rock Band Blitz comes bundled with over 20 songs, and works instantly with any of the 3500+ Rock Band songs. Rock Band Blitz's songs are also immediately compatible and playable in Rock Band 3, where players can experience these hits as a full band, using compatible guitar, microphone, drum, and keyboard peripherals!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (November 27th, 2012):
