Wii U Press Previews

Soooo....seriously, I have TWO WiiU systems on order. I was able to get an in-store Best Buy order in (which I will pick-up on launch day) but also had an online order elsewhere which will show up that week.

I only need one system, but since I have that one locked in, I'm debating on whether to keep the order and help someone out who would like a WiiU but are unable to get their hands on it.

Thoughts?

Gift it to someone who is broke (I'd accept it)

EDIT for real answer: Sell it to someone here who didn't had luck finding one

I want that damned Zombi game!

Yeah, I might do that. I'm not really looking to make a profit or anything like that, but if I can help someone out who has been unable to secure one, I'll definitely go for it.

If I had the cash I would buy it off your hands (If it is the deluxe duh) but no job and all I have saved for now its 60 bucks so I'll be getting the Wii U around summer or later at this rate. Hope you find someone here and work it out.

I can't believe it's been 6 years since the last proper console launch.

It really is a special time for gamers.

I'm glad I pre-ordered Zombi U. The game looks creepy as hell. The atmosphere is just like DayZ, only with smoother gameplay and less clunkiness.

Especially the end, where he had to fight off all those zombies while waiting for the door to open!

The end of that Zombi-U video had me on edge.
Even with all of the commentary and the fact that I find watching people who cant play games boring.

Def pick up both and let someone who can't find it snag it from ya :D

I gotta say, I'm finally starting to see a lot of Wii U stuff around. No demo units in my town, but a lot of signs. Yesterday I saw a huge billboard for Meijer (which is about an hour away, and usually Meijer isn't on that billboard, just for Wii U perhaps?) and they had a Wii U next to their logo. And today I went to Wal-Mart for the first time in a while and they had an entire case cleared out for the Wii U with a big poster covering the empty glass that said "coming soon, Nov 18th, how U will play next", plus they had a bunch of Wii U ad stickers on the area by the pre-paid game cards.

I also asked an employee about it (there was actually two standing there) and they said that they couldn't put anymore in layaway, and they weren't sure how many they would get. They also said demand has been huge -- they also seemed very knowledgeable about it, which is a surprise because they were older people that you wouldn't expect to keep track of the Wii U. So, basically I guess Nintendo hasn't had much rolled out around stores but that seems like it's changing. Keep in mind I live in a small norther town without much but Wal-Mart, and it's pretty common for nobody to know anything about new tech products, as well as have zero interest in buying such products.

IGN: What We're Learning About Wii U
Some stuff has already been mentioned, but there is some new stuff there.

SDHC max is 32GB (according to IGN).

The way Wii backwards compatibility works is like so:

Slightly concerned about battery life, hope we get it tested soon

You'll be using the touch-enabled GamePad controller with your Wii U a lot. But how long will it last? Nintendo estimates 3 to 5 hours for the device, though cautions that variation will depend on what functions you're using. Once your battery is dead, however, how much time will it take to recharge? Nintendo says it will take 2.5 hours to completely refill the Pad's battery.

So it barely charges faster than you can drain it? I hope they'll be selling chargers separately because I want to use the handy charging cradle, but I can see times when I'll want to play while its charging

And this
But wait, there's more. You can also access the GamePad and turn on your Wii U through the controller's touch screen. Right within the remote interface is a button that says 'Play Wii U' - touch that, and your system turns on

Makes it sound like the gamepad has some processing capability on its own - so is the 3DS style menu is self contained on the gamepad?

That latest Tekken preview makes me want to play the game even more. Sadly it's going have to wait. To much money going out this November already. So just the deluxe system with ZombiU and Black Ops as I originally planned. :( However it and now Ninja Gaiden are on the list as the next set of games I buy come December or January. Going have to create a list now and slowly work my way through it over the next year with new games getting toss at the end of the list instead of jumping it unless I get a really good price.

Has anyone mentioned whether just having Wii Motion + addon's are OK for the NintendoLand Wii Motion + games? I assume they are but I havent' heard it confirmed.

So it's confirmed, they recycled the music from NSMBWii in NSMBU. I'm not gonna buy it :)

It's definitely extremely disappointing. My expectations for audio in NSMB series is pretty low, if they have one or two new songs atleast, I'll be happy about that.

well, the main theme is new...

and several of the other tunes are riffs on the main theme, including the athletic theme, iirc.

It's not much, I know.

Technically, that shouldn't be an issue ... but who knows.

I just realized that I actually only have one Wii Remote Plus (SS one) and two regular Wii Remotes and one MotionPlus attachment =/.

Quick Look EX: Scribblenauts Unlimited

My interest for this game went way up. I've only played the original scribblenauts and enjoyed it, but this looks way better.

After getting burned on the original game, and it wasn't really my cup of tea. And the ten minutes I got to play with Scribblenauts Unlimited at one of the demos left a bad taste in my mouth with how much you're being forced to use the pad for clicking on characters, etc. It's not nearly as natural as it is on a DS touch screen. Game looked pretty janky on the pad, and the UI didn't seem to function naturally. It would probably be better sitting down with it at home, but really not a great experience for me.

i'll be honest, i was pretty bored with most of that Scribblenauts QL, but the last 10 minutes were awesome. I think it may have found its true calling as a party game. Looked really fun.

Check your PM's.

I assume all the unboxing pics/vids have taken care of all your eye candy needs, but if there are any requests on particular close-up shots, let me know. I'm opening mine in a couple hours.

Hmm... I wouldn't mind a quick video flip-through of some of the instruction manuals, if that's allowed. ^_^

That's a great shot of how small Wii U is compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360. It's still tiny, just like the Wii. Wait a second. Is that the new PS3 Slim model ? If so, it still looks huge.

It probably would have been better to put them all flat on a table (or the Wii U tall like the other two) since the Wii U is much deeper than the PS3 is, would have given a much better impression of the size differences.
