Crashmo/Fallblox |OT| Heart-Shaped Blox

axisofweevils

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
I'm already struggling on Lesson 4.... No joke.

I'll have no chance on the later levels.

Really enjoying this so far.
A great game to help the time until the Wii U EU launch passes.

Honestly, most of my memories of Pullblox are of horrible, slow and patronising tutorials. :/
One of the worst tutorial experiences in my gaming history. Any good time I had with the game was eclipsed by all the bad tutorial time, and it's the reason I'm loathed to recommend it in good faith to anyone without warning them first.

If there were a cheat code to skip the tutorials I'm sure I'd have a great time with the game. :(

How does this game compare in this regards?

This game is much, much better about not wasting your time with craploads of filler--the difficulty ramps up very quickly, and most of the obvious tutorials are segregated away from the main game as a separate mode that's entirely optional.

I didn't really get the hype surronding Pushmo, but Crashmo is legit.

Here's my first contribution to the world of Crashmo/Fallblox:

No bells or whistles, doors or buttons; it's just you, your brain, and some mushroom-shaped fallblox. PS hope it hasn't already been done.

Here are some puzzles I made. They're probably positively horrible and way easier than the difficulty I projected :p
Or maybe they have some really easy way to solve them that I simply didn't realize exists... Ah well.

$8.99 USD... Pushmo was only $6.99... I don't like this price increase for the sequel

But I still bought it, will play it later today.

Maybe it's because I'm used to PSN pricing, but $9 is very reasonable as far as I'm concerned. It looks they've built upon the mechanics of the previous game and I'm expecting a noticeable improvement overall.

Will PushMo be cheaper once this comes out? 7 dollars just doesn't match up math-wise with the other games I want to add an increment of 10 dollars to my account.

Edit: Is there a way to add 5? I swear I've seen this option in eShop coverage online, but it's no where to be found in my eShop.

Why not just add "needed funds"?

Did you forget to set the difficulty for this one? It definitely doesn't feel like a 1-star puzzle to me, but maybe I'm just horrible at the game D:
I think my brain is broken :p

Played the first 20 lessons and 5 challenges and I already like it even better than Pushmo! The tutorials are very quick and, despite the fact that Papa Blox says the same thing in the beginning of most of the lessons, it only gives you hints if you go talk to him; otherwise, the game only tells the player the basic move that you have to make to proceed. Crashmo's early puzzles already feel much harder than Pushmo's: it took way too long for the original to get challenging, but the nature of the mechanics in the sequel makes puzzles more interesting and harder. Also, I'm liking the music better and I love the fact that I can set the camera controls to the shoulder buttons.

Even though the price bump feels a little wrong, it would be a lie to assert either Pushmo or Crashmo is not worth $9.

It's easier to swallow if you think of Pushmo as having been sold at a lower price point just to help introduce people to the IP. With a relatively large following, they're now able to position it at a more realistic $9 for what you're getting. $7 really was a steal.

Still going through the opening tutorials, and just considering all the permutations in which these techniques could be combined is making my brain melt.

GOD DAMN I already got stumped briefly on Lesson 8 because
I forgot you can pull blocks out and fall off the edge in the process. Gramps never even mentioned it!

EDIT: finished the 20 lessons (some were actually tricky). Ready to get my butt stomped!

It's becoming apparent that far moreso than Pushmo, this game is all about the "big picture". Before making any moves you need to process the entire puzzle to some extent. In Pushmo, there were a lot more situations where you could simply take things in stride.

It's a completely different game.

Guys, is it just me, or are these types of manoeuvres not possible anymore?

They were definitely doable in Pushmo, right?

Well, anyway, finished the first batch of Challenges. They were not that easy (._. ). I need to do something less mentally taxing for awhile. :p

I just completed Pushmo a couple of weeks ago. I'm not ready right now. Didn't think this was out so soon.

It's awesome to know that I got this kickass game waiting for me.

Quoted for truth.

Liking it a lot so far. While it's harder, it almost feels freeing that you can move things however you like. Well, as long as it gets your little mitts on those birds.

Love that you can go back and click on the birds in the extras and they say different things.

Hahaha. Yep, I forgot to set the difficulty for it, however, as I'm only halfway through the main game myself, I'm honestly not too sure how hard it gets - I can imagine it getting much more brain-breaking!

There's a bit of a trick to solving this one though. Just remember you always need to keep a step just close enough to get onto the very top black part! ;)

Guys, is it just me, or are these types of manoeuvres not possible anymore?

I have a feeling this is the case, too.

Yeah, the little mechanical changes have really stumped me at times. This is not your father's block based puzzle!

I haven't played it in a few days, halfway through the "Cloud Blox" challenges.

I'm pretty sure I recall Gramps saying you can fall off. I think you might have just skipped a bit too fast over that part ;-p

From what you've played, does the game rely on those types jumps more than Pushmo? I'm 9 puzzles from completing all the built in puzzles in Pushmo and those jumps feel really janky. If they're gone, I'm all for it.

muahahahahaa good luck with that lol

Is there a massive jump in difficulty or something? So far the challenge puzzles have been easier than the portrait ones because it's simpler to parse out what you need to do rather than dealing with blocks that are just there for the picture.
