Weekend Confirmed Episode Whimsy | Let's All Love Loving Things

I've been looking for podcasts to listen to in place of my lost amazing local morning radio show. Idle Thumbs has been cool. What is this like? OP doesn't really give me a feel for this other than another wacky video game podcast with some funny doods :V

Seeing as "real" xbox is not on win7 that's more than likely the reason it cant get cross compatibility.
lol wat if they can manage cross play between a telephone and an xbox I'm pretty sure they can manage Windows 7. It's 8 exclusive because Microsoft wants an exclusive for their new swank store when in fact they're probably sending the game to die on PC as a result. Phones are very much a flavour of the month affair, and I don't think enough people are upgrading to 8 for it to get a big community.

See: Shadowrun

OP is terrible and grossly out of date but I'm not changing it ::humbug::

Besides, I'm pretty sure the Bombcast is the Gurren Lagann of gaming podcasts

Why not just download a episode or two to get a feel of the show?

Latest episode was fun. Got a good laugh out of 2N1T's "I am Garnett Lee and the one thing I do is finish games!" or something to that effect.

Also, I'm probably in to buy Skulls of the Shogun. I think the guest was on 8-4 play a while ago and I liked what he had to say back then.

I was so pumped for Skull of the Shogun when that guy was on 8-4 like...two years ago talking about it. Now I'm way less enthused. It's not a terribly complex game so I'm not sure why it's been stuck in development for so long. Windows 8 I guess?

Same with Writer Rumble. I remember seeing a trailer for that game forever ago. It's pretty decent.

Skulls of the Shogun seems to be a case of wasted resources too. I mean, seriously, who is going to buy this on Windows Phone or Windows 8? A small amount.

Should have been Xbox, Windows 7, iOS, and Android from the start. No one cares about Windows 8 phones. No one cares about Windows 8 tablets. No one really cares about Windows 8 either.

I got the impression from 8-4 Play earlier this year when they had Jake Kazdal and the "what is it like to be indie" discussion that Skulls was just waiting around for Windows 8 to launch

~15 hours if I recall

Hmm, I (vaguely) remember it being more like 10 or so, which isn't short for a shooter, but compared to stuff like Xenoblade and Lost Odyssey isn't that long either.

Especially if he already played part of it way back when, seems like he could power through the rest easily in a weekend.

I was surprised when I finished the original Crysis in like, 6 hours or something. The sequel was far, far longer. I'd put it at least 10 or 12 hours.

10-12 fun hours mind you.

I got more time out of the original Crysis, but that might be me experimenting with the levels/encounters more.

Some worthwhile episodes and discussions, but mostly a snoozefest. More informative than entertaining.

It's a great podcast with a GAF thread that is basically a meeting point for whiners. Get the podcast, skip this thread.

Oh Garnett...

Jeff: "Those two hours of Bioshock Infinite could be my Game of the Year. Let me tell you about it..."
Garnett: Immediately proceeds to sidetrack the conversation into "how do we preview games as an industry" complete with comparisons to movies and music

That's a shame, I think we should go back to weekly thread. I think the megathread encourages that kind of behaviour.

Had to skip most of the Bioshock talk. Appreciate the spoiler warnings Cannata, heard what I need to!

The bomba thread has had some revisions, most notably that Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101 have slipped.

Maybe it's because I wasn't a big fan of Bioshock 1 and 2 but the amount of "wow"s during Jeff's description of Infinite had me scratching my head. Nothing about it sounds particularly new or exciting. I guess it's just not for me.

Also, Jeff and Garnett really need to get their PCs set up on their TVs. You guys are really missing out.

Weekend Infinite-irmed. Had to skip a bunch of the opening though because I didn't want to hear anything on how the game opened. Not even a little bit. The original game's opening was so memorable that I don't want to spoil this.

Hope it has better combat though. 2k Marin defeated Irrational at their own game with Bioshock 2. I had a good time with BS1's combat but I didn't realize how much it was missing until you were able to shoot and plasmid at the same time in BS2.

We put the breaks in because a lot of listeners told us they listen to the show on their various ways to work and having a breaks gives them a sort of save point if you will.

It's also nice for us to have a chance to regroup and tbh, get a bathroom break in as well.

And finally, it offers spots for sponsors.

Giantbomb ruined the Far Cry 3 intro for me, to the point where hearing the crew talk about it unironically is just weird. lol

I really wonder if they meant for people to identify with those characters or hate them because they're rich, white, trust fund douches looking for a good time in some random Asian country somewhere.

Their little bit about U Play was the hardest I've laughed at Weekend Confirmed in a spell.
God damn Captivia.

They also missed out on the obvious innuendo of Jeff needing "a bigger sack" in Far Cry 3.

Also, the lady could not understand what they meant by the physical map of Far Cry 2. I was like "The game character literally just pulls out a map in first person and you can look at it while navigating the game world! WHY DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?". I don't think she fully understood even when they were done.

if it keeps a podcast free; breaks are fine with me.

BTW; any chance of the cowboys making the postseason?

Same here. I think I skipped about 40 minutes of podcast, oh well. Better safe than sorry.

If there was any doubt of the intro's intent, the VGAs should clear it right up. Those douches are most of the "AAA" game market. How many Sam Jackson quotes were in that intro, must have been at least one

Market segmentation motherfucker, do you speak it?!

Did a lot of people have that big of an issue on how to change weapons in FC3? They probably should have included a manual for Nikole to read.

Bit of a joke and all that but I didn't have an issue. I agree it feels a bit superficial having to go craft extra weapon slots.

I have no idea what Garnett was talking about when he was saying that people talking in Bioshock are like walking recordings and not real. Every game works like that.
He was just trying so hard to be dismissive of the game that he was spewing absolute nonsense.

Don't see why "Game of the Year" has to be so hard to come to grips with. See what game got the most favorable reviews on metacritic and BOOM, game of the year. That are which game users bought the most this year...BOOM, Black Ops 2 = game of the year. But that would be too easy and controversial though it makes the most sense.

So yeah, leave things the way they are, rather than trying come up with obscure ways to highlight the best games of the year as it then also highlights even more the major fuck up of these lists and awards as the best selling games, which consumers voted for with there wallets are often left off them.

If anything I would think many would prefer that rather than reading journals or diary entries left also over the place. Garnett recently played Lost Odyssey. I wonder if he was compelled to keep reading those Dream books after maybe the 5th one that can have hundreds of text and bore the shit out of you.

Give me recordings any-day and do in in the same convenient manner as Bioshock where I can continue to play while listing to these side conversations.

The way the entire crew dismissed the notion of a Game of the Year show some months into 2013, in last weeks episode, was a bit disheartening. What's wrong with having a few months to reflect on what's released these last few months?

Personally, I don't care much for faceless Game of the Year awards with dozens of categories to appease every publisher out there. I'd much rather see personal reflections of the Weekend Confirmed (semi-)regulars. It's what I like about Giant Bomb's approach. Just tell me about some of your most remarkable gaming experiences you've had in the last year. Explain to me why that game in particular resonated with you, what made it memorable.

It's glitched though, right? I couldn't reliably set two weapons up as the ones I was using. I would change to the one I want while using the one I didn't want and instead of swapping out the one I didn't want the other one (that I wasn't holding when I did the swap) would get swapped out.

Infinite is going to be amazing because of all the hidden Out of the Game Podcast audio diaries. I mean, that's why they aren't online anymore right, to save them for the game... right? RIGHT?

I liked Nikole's suggestion for GOTY. Go for quantity, not quality - while everyone else is doing top 10, you bust out the top 1000. Every game is a GOTY onto itself. Tell me that kick ass thing about Cherry Tree Comedy Club, the thing that makes it better than anything else, cause I got my hand over the buy button, I just need that push...
