Easter egg:
The URLs of the store's API contain a reference to chihiro.
Chihiro is the name of the girl from Spirited Away, who later in the movie gets renamed Sen. Sony Entertainment Network.
The website isn't great, as it's still an absolute pain to find certain content. There is no PS1 page for example. They need to step up their game.Don't mind the Vita store, it's still fast and slick. But this is a great step forward for Sony.

I did notice one possible glitch with it - added the 3 EU PS+ games and checked out, went to my download list on PS3 and Vanquish and Batman were there, but only the unlock key for Limbo was added, not the trial for it.
Possibly I already downloaded the trial before at some point, or it was a bug, I'm not sure.

.
Store performance is about the same on PC as on PS3 for me (UK). I don't think it's my abysmal PC's fault, but I could be wrong.
So can I select to download something with this and it'll automatically download on my PS3 at home or does it not work that way?
(What exactly is the point if not this?)
Not at the moment, but you have to imagine something like that is in the works. So can I select to download something with this and it'll automatically download on my PS3 at home or does it not work that way?

It's still better than Microsoft/Nintendo, right?

As for what use, well it allows you to take advantage of sales when you might not be near your PS3 if nothing else.

Haven't actually used it yet, but I would imagine so yes.So how does it work? You buy it from the webstore and you have to navigate to your download list on your PS3 and manually download it?
That makes sense, thanks!
See my main problem is sometimes the PS Store doesn't even open on my PS3. I can literally be sitting there 20-30 minutes and get nowhere. (By then I am either so "meh" that I don't even want to purchase any longer, or I've lost my free time for the day and don't get to play what I just purchased until some other itme). When it eventually does, it'll crash before I get to check out. So this would be really useful if I could circumvent the entire store on the PS3 some how and just purchase on the web and have it automatically start downloading on my PS3.
Hopefully, soon.
About 10 times faster than on console for me. And search actually works, too.

Yep, I know about that, pity it's missing an absolute shitload of games. The Vita store lists 128 PS1 games alone - which only includes the compatible games - the website lists 50. Lol.

Plus the website banner isn't actually labelled PS1 (like it is on the Vita store for example) and the link can only be found on that one page, where's the link in the sidebar?
This times a billion. I want this now. Being able to queue up my Plus freebies without turning on my PS3 would be a #gamechanger.yo.
yo SCEA.
yo SCEA get yo shit together pls.

As Number45 states, UK store.Which store are you using on the Vita? US? IIRC EU store has much fewer PS1 games.
Portuguese store is now up.
Seems like it. Found this interesting:
The launch of the online store follows the recent redesign of PlayStation® Store (PS Store) for PS3 and is part of an on-going process of PS Store development. Both the PS Store and the online store will continue to be updated with new features that improve usability and convenience for finding, purchasing and accessing content. For example, users of the new online store can look forward to the addition of advanced recommendation functionality and automatic remote download of purchased content, as well as mobile phone and tablet browsing in the future.
The new online store is available today in UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Netherlands, Russia, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Switzerland, Denmark and Finland and can be accessed via https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/. The online store will be available in North America and other regions in the future.
