Never forget! I'm Dumb!
Forgot to mention how awesome the mixing of sound from the console and sound from the gamepad is. It creates such a cool sound stage, like the music in the Mii creator, especially if you have a home theater.
I love the gun sounds coming out of the gamepad speaker in blops2.

Yeah, I love those little Gamepad speakers. Too bad I find the battery drains a lot faster with them up to any volume level. If I turn them down I seem to get another hour out of the thing. I generally only use brightness at 1 tick above lowest too.. wish it would last longer on better settings. :/

Well that didn't take long...

... most of my friend list haven't been on in the last 6-7 days :-/ Miiverse activity is anemic too. Weak.

Not much to play right now that hasn't been out on other consoles. I've played the hell out of Mario, and that's the bulk of what I wanted to play.

Stop It

Perfectly able to grasp the inherent value of the fishing game.

Mine isn't too bad. I've got active friends online each time I boot the system.

Between work and rugby training I can't use my Wii U every day for much gaming, but will check out the Miiverse etc. I always seem to have new notifications each day I check so activity isn't too bad.

I dont believe any wiiu games or software are compatible with the Classic controller. Only Wii games for BC.

And only the WiiU Pro controller is compatible with wiiu games. But I believe there is a 3rd party controller, that isnt out yet, that is supposed to be compatible as both controllers.

Black Ops works fine with the Wii Classic Controller...

yeah, also ZombiU apparently supports it in mp. Damn all this time for BlopsII and ZombiU I was making my friends use the wiiremote, who have never used it for pointer controls, because I thought they only supported the wiiremote or the WiiU Pro controller. When they could have just used my CCPro sitting in my entertainment center the whole time.

Skiesofwonder

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.

I haven't been on nearly as much because of finals (which end tomorrow for me). Though I did play NSMBU yesterday and posted a (poor) drawing to miiverse.

The Sound from my Gamepad seems to be a little in front of the TV's. Anything i can do about this? Got a Samsung TV and the WiiU connected by hdmi.

that is a tough criteria, though... i usually just have time to game on the w/e and i bet many people are just like me

edit: anyhow i pretty much check miiverse daily, and the person in my friend list that didn't log in for the longest amount of time was online two days ago

I think that is due to the gamepad having less lag than most tvs. and I am not sure how they could rectify that. Unless Nintendo puts a setting in the OS to let the user add lag to the gamepad, so that it lines up with your tv. But that probabaly wouldn't be a good idea for the general user base.

If it is really bad, make sure your tv is in game mode, and you dont have any processing effects on, like motion smoother etc.

Tekken and zombiu arrived!

Now i have 5 games.. I will prob get blops 2 and be done for the initial launch for a while

Might buy ninja gaiden and sonic racing down the road

I wouldn't get that, it's USB powered and uses a large USB A cable, so it might be tricky to get a Y cable for it

Maybe just get a western digital passport with a y cable from eBay, or a drive with its own power supply

Noooooooooo.

Works fine. Same one I have. Comes with it's own power supply too, so you'll be fine.

Who is telling the truth?!

I have 33 people on my list and they've all been online in the past day. Guess it will vary from person to person.

Fair enough.

I will say, I'm not seeing much activity or logins on my Live account either.

I don't quite get what some of these publishers were thinking with these releases and prices. While I don't think there was ever going to be any real success, I figured at least someone would go the extra mile and try to capture some kind of niche or expanded fanbase, even if the likelihood of success was fairly dismal.

Would have been neat to see certain games packed in with their prequels. Like Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed trilogies, both Darksiders games, etc.

Or just reduce prices to at least something reasonable. To put it into perspective right as Arkham City came out on Wii U for 60 dollars, I bought and gifted an Arkham Asylum GOTY and Arkham City GOTY dual pack on PC to a friend for 7 dollars. I've seen sameish deep discounts on them for consoles as well.

Coulda probably got a fair few impulse buys and double dips by releasing a 30 dollar dual pack that's also 24.99 on the eShop or something.

For those in Australia (or have had a similar experience), do you find the Nintendo network slow?

I did a series of speed tests on my wifi network, with different devices (iPhone 4 and RAZR HD), and they both tested at expected speeds. I thought the wifi channel might be suffering from interference from the wiiu, but it proved not to be the case.

Youtube on wiiu performs reasonably, but preview videos (Nintendo shop) buffer every few seconds!

Whats it like for you?

It will work fine, this is a mains powered 3,5" HDD, not a USB bus-powered drive.

Even for a bus powered 2,5" HDD, a Y cable won't be necessary in most cases. And if it is, such cables are available for cheap everywhere.

What are these Y cables I keep hearing about and why are they so important?

Are there any smaller (physical size) you could recommend? 500gb+

Thanks.

Like netbuff mentioned. It's 3.5" mains powered HDD. That's why it's fine. :D

Complete and utter bollocks, to be honest. Anyone with half a brain at EA should have realised that the Mass Effect Triology with all the possible DLC available for WiiU, PC and other consoles would have made sense. But, heh, it's EA. I'm expecting them to unveil Need for Speed: Burnout a few weeks before NFS:MW (£54.99/$59.99/€69.99) is released for the WiiU.

Yeah, I was going to byu Mass Effect III for Wii U, but decided to wait for Trilogy instead. IF it never gets released or I get tired waiting, then III probably has had a massive price drop anyway.

NSMBU is just...damn

it's the perfect game. Play brilliant Mario levels in glorious HD and then, as an after dinner drink, play a coupla Challenges. It's perfect!

as Cordell Robbie would say, "that's some good eatin'"

I thought Batman had a lot of technical issues?

No. They REALLY are overblown. Any dip in frame rate that I've noticed is so insignificant and happens so infrequently that I rarely notice. I can guarantee that you will have a blast playing Arkham City on Wii U. The game looks beautiful and it is a treat to be able to handle all of your weapons, inventory, and map functions on the Gamepad itself.

I have plenty of friends online most of the time, also good activity on Miiverse.

Same.

I'm thinking Miiverse is going to EXPLODE in a week and a half once Christmas hits. This should also bode well for games like Black Ops 2 and Assassin's Creed 3. Sure you won't have 360 like population numbers, but they will increase a lot and it'll start to become respectable, I think.

Would be great. My CoD is reporting about 370 people online. Which... is not a lot :(

I agree with Miiverse taking off over Christmas. Should be exciting!

I just really want Nintendo to announce something about a virtual console... I would spend so much money on VC games to play on the pad. WHYYY are they not doing it? :(

I'll second this. Game looks great and you won't even notice most of the frame dips. Adjusting gear and leveling up on the Wii Pad is awesome. I don't think I could go back to the 360 version now. Heh, heh.

I have a theory on why...

Indie devs.

I don't know if you've noticed, but Nintendo has been VERY aggressive towards courting indie devs over the last year. I'm thinking that they don't want consumers to be picking cheap 1st party VC content over original indie content that's the same price.

I could be wrong, though.

this is what I was thinking too.

Also, if you want VC games, cant you just go to wii mode and the wii shop for VC? And hopefully they will eventually transfer over to wiiu

Still a bit confused about this in the UK. 10 days after launch and it remains the case that few supermarkets are carrying it in-store - select branches have a couple of games and a smattering of consoles, but beyond that, nothing. Most Asda / Tesco stores don't even acknowledge its existence.

Not sure why Nintendo has allocated stock in such an odd way. These are, like it or not, the biggest gaming retailers in the country. There's a reason you'll find a small core queuing big city outside Game stores for the latest CoD or FIFA while hundreds arrive at Asda in the back end of nowhere.

to be honest I'm just waiting for GameCube games and those, sadly, are just out of the question from the Wii Shop

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo were holding off for the eShop to get some solid support before pumping there own games in there. However, how long will they wait and are they going to just start from scratch again? And how about Gamecube games? It would be awesome to have the old VC games functioning with Miiverse as well. Once can dream.

Black Ops works fine with the Wii Classic Controller...

Really? Aren't the lack of clicking analog sticks a problem?

And the anemic COD online community is disappointing. Hardly anybody plays objective games. Hopefully it will pick up after Christmas.

I wouldn't recommend to hold your breath guys, EVERYONE (including me) thought that GBA games were no-brainers for the 3DS VC, nearly two years and they're nowhere to be seen (unless you're an ambassador :p), just look at the VC now, aside from a few suprises it's shit, and it doesn't seem any probable that it will change anytime soon.

Which explains that 90% of the people who point at it, or just plain hate it, are people who wouldn't even consider buying one no matter what, if I didn't own one I would be afraid of even picking up one, because the hyperbole here on GAF is gigantic, people calling some of the ports lazy or unplayable are just ridiculous. If the system is so awful and the ports so mediocre, the why I'm being able to really enjoy it?
