Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
They are really charging way too much for these. Should be £5 at the very most, and really, they should be cheaper than that. Nobody is going to pay £8 for what is essentially an iOS game.

While I agree that this game doesnt look all that enticing to me (my first impression was that its too expensive as well, but who knows how much content they put in), the gameplay is not "essentially" an iOS game. It looks like many other (for example) PC Indie games (or Pacman) in terms of running on a line and trying to avoid enemies, and you wouldnt call those iOS games either.

And if you are referring to the graphic style.. that shouldnt qualify at all for something being called an "iOS" game, since even on iOS the graphic styles vary heavily. Not to mention that retro style is rather rare on popular iOS apps.

Hey VitaGAF... got a quick hardware question for you.

If the unthinkable should happen and one's Vita screen gets scratched (even with a protector on it), is replacing the screen through a third-party component site (like this one) a viable solution to sending it in to Sony and suffering through Vita withdrawal for a whopping $129?

I get concerned with sites that employ Dr. Nick infomercial-speak for things like "FREE Pry Opening Tool Included".

Buy warranty from Squaretrade. 30% off all the time. I paid around $29 for 3 year accident replacement warranty.

Eh, I paid 10 dollars for Pacman CE DX and regret nothing. You can't just say:

"This looks like a phone game! Charge 99 cents!"

Without any play impressions. To me, it looks easily worth 10 dollars and I won't cry paying 15 for it.

But are they £8? My point is that it's a very simple, low-budget game (Which is why I compared it to something on iOS), and they're charging nearly as much as something like Unfinished Swan, Tokyo Jungle or Journey.

So what do you think the odds are that the PS4 or what ever it will be called will be fully set up to do remote play to a Vita.

I kinda decided im not doing consoles any more when I sold me xbox at the beginning of the year and I possible wont upgrade my PC either. However If i can play it streamed to my vita that would almost definately change my mind.

They clearly wanted to do that with PS3 but for what ever reason it hasn't taken off. Maybe they will make sure this functionality is built into there next console?

I can only hope.

It would be depended on the game in other words it's not likely that the current situation will change.

They are indeed. A Virus named Tom costs 9,99€ now which is sort of the PC Indie game sweetspot for these games. I see your issue when you compare it to TJ, Journey or Unfinished Swan, but thats mostly because those games should be more expensive in the first place :p US was probably heavily subsidized by Sony so they can use it as PSMove showpiece and TJ was more expensive in JP I believe.

9,99€ is really a fine price for almost anything that is not on iOS.

Thats not necessarily true. Currently, it depends on the game, but Sony could very well make it an OS level feature (like on Wii U), where every game would be able to support it. Depends how high of a priority it is for Sony I guess.

I still they they have a fundamental problem with Remote Play functionality. I've messed around with playing PS1 games on Vita, and it's already annoying having to use either touch for L2/R2, especially when you need to hold it down. Yeah I know it's the same as PSP which I got used to, but it's still not ideal. I can already imagine my frustration if I had to incorporate L3/R3 into that as well.

Vita doesn't have enough buttons to make RP viable for me

I agree. Its a hidden gem with wasted potential as a Mini.

Edit: BTw, I'd love to know how many copies of Velocity/Surge Gaf managed to sell.

Truly hope the new PSN version sells absolute gangbusters <3

Haha yeah that would be pretty interesting to see. Be hard to work out though. I'd like to know many many times i sold someone on Mutant Blobs Attack :p

Glad I didn't get the mini tbh, now I can just wait for the real version ;P

Eh, no one said its the SAME game yet. You could very well be missing out on the levels of the Mini version.

I'm personally excited for the sure-to-be dramatically ramped up graphics and presentation. Also using the touchscreen where you want to transport which I brought up in that old Velocity thread.

Not sure I want to take off my hands of the buttons in that game tbh..

Given how they marketed Velocity, i doubt they would use it like that. Not sure it would be fast enough anyway... You needed to be REALLY quick transporting for some of those levels.

True FuturLab lovers buy both ;)

I would want it optional of course but to me it would seem faster if you just tap a spot on the screen and get transported instead of having to move the analog stick where you want to transport.

I wonder just how possible it is to build the kind of native gameplay that the Wii U offers for the gamepad over 802.11n wireless - that will be the problem. If you can't get the latency right down it's not going to be worth it for games. Nintendo had to make "concessions" in terms of distance and line of sight as it is, and that was designed from the ground up for this functionality.

But that will be dependant on person and game.

As long as they allow you to map those buttons to where you want (bare in mind it could be from and back touch to remap them to.

I know I would be happy to push certain actions to the touch screens which I understand others might not be.

Still it will be interesting to see if they do.

I think as long as they do it on an OS lvl it could be a really great feature that all games support. However they would have to get it running lag free within a reasonable distance of each other.

with the right set up splashtop can stream your PC to your tablet over wifi at a playing frame rate etc etc. On a controlled environment like a console it might be able to be perfected.

You were comfortable using the "generic portable electronic device $250" warranty? I was a bit bugged that they haven't updated their site to include Vita as a predefined device in their list. :\

Well the Vita COULD already be designed from the ground up for this functionality, the PS3 just doesnt use it to its fullest capabilities because the PS3 wasnt designed for it. I'd say if Sony wants it to happen, they would have prepared a way of doing so by now. And Wifi Streaming already went a pretty good way. In the same network you dont even need to stream via Internet, but can send it directly across the router, which shouldnt be any issue at all.

What about remote play over bluetooth? PS3 controllers are pretty lag free. Use bluetooth for the controls and gakai video for the video stream.

Not sure if this has been posted before but the Vita version of DOA5 looks surprisingly good. It's even running at 60fps.

I need a Vita for this game. XD

I did love DoA on the dreamcast....... will keep an eye on this.

My only problem is that for me, fighting games are there best when its you and your mates at your house playing winner stays on. I have never managed to get into them online and none of my mates have vitas except my brother who isnt into fighting games.

I also havnt been in a position where I just have my bloke mates round to play games for 8-10 years lol.
