That alternate costume is dope, from the torso up anyway.

Hopefully them giving the PC version a bonus means they intend to give us vergil too.

Why not? It's just an extra costume, and they're usually just fun unrelated apparel.

Anyway, it's a part of a pack, so there's more.

Because it has nothing to do with anything. It's just a bizarre choice considering their options.

There's no reason for it not to be there and there's no reason for it to be included either.

Come on, we've been talking about this game for awhile now. Can you at least do me the courtesy of answering my question? Do you want him to represent you and the disenfranchised fans about the overall concerns of this game?
Well according to your following paragraph he doesn't actually have an ongoing relationship with Capcom to begin with so I guess this is like a hypothetical question. He's not the ideal representative of the community but then again... who the hell has put themselves up to the task? That shows that he has balls and that he isn't going to fold under pressure or be silenced by empty platitudes. A lot of fans are their own biggest enemies... they love a game or a company too much to take a critical look at what they love. Hell I wouldn't choose myself to be a representative for the series due to a number of reasons. People accuse EventStatus of using other people's opinions, findings, facts to supplement his videos but I mean... the main reason he does his videos because he gets a lot of requests to do them. He got so many requests to do the DmC impressions despite him not even wanting to do so in the first place. I was the one who provided the info, facts and even that screenshot of the S ranking system for that impression and I appreciate that he used all the material that I provided him. That's what a representative should be doing if there was one. I do feel that he has gotten to bogged down on the way Capcom/NT has handled the PR side of things and that he has not done a good enough job of highlighting the good that Capcom/NT have done to rectify these issues. Saying "it's a decent game but it's not DMC" isn't enough at this point, I mean we all know this already.

One last thing. Some new preview videos were out (but gone now) and they do show updates to demo concerns. For starters the mission rankings - deaths deduct 10% of your score per restart, items take off 10K points per usage. So that's something.
That's already how it is in the demo. 10k point reduction in item usage is paltry when you can accumulate 2 million style points. As long as the death number is below 5 you can still amass tons of style points and get SSS, you shouldn't be able to get SSS even with a single death in the first place.

So yes, the game has been taking and using notes. Just because they don't give specific or say anything outright, doesn't mean they aren't listening. The lack of specificity doesn't mean the evidence of no improvements.
That's exactly the problem, they aren't providing specifics nor are they admitting to any problems. "We'll look into it" is not good enough.

Are you really nitpicking an inconsequential costume pack? Ffs, let's not get silly.

Relax. I knew someone was going to get their panties in a bunch over mild criticism.

There are better options. I don't see why they went with it. That's all.

Of course, I don't like pre-order costumes in general, but that's something that's universally here to stay in all of gaming.

I have to wonder what that costume is referencing to. Doesn't seem to be anything in the DMC universe that I have seen.

At least it has white hair... I am sure the journalists will use this to their advantage "LOOK GUYS HE HAS WHITE HAIR SO SHUT UP ALREADY!"

It's an extra costume. It's just for fun. The previous DMC1 had LDK mode, which didn't make a lick of sense because it was Dante's story and not Sparda, but it was fun. DMC2 had the Diesel cross promotion costumes, which was weird but nice to have, I guess. Also, Bayonetta had a ton of extra costumes. Most of which were weird niche-y choices.

And who knows, and it might actually have a point. But really it doesn't matter, because it's just fun extra costume to use. That's all.

Intrigued by the costume pack.

I wonder if it'll be made of concepts for New Dante's main look that were passed on.

Maybe if there's one that people end up liking more than the main design.

And of course, if they cave to people and offer a classic Dante skin
for $5

Ah yes,

http://www.destructoid.com/get-dmc-plus-devil-may-cry-3-and-4-for-60-on-steam-240881.phtml

Steam is going to have a DMC collection sale. DmC, DMC3, and DMC4 for $60.

Man, they're pulling out all the stops. Too bad DMC3 is such a shitty port.

If this is Capcom's doing, I feel like it would be in their best interest to put a mild patch in DMC3, to at least add proper controller support and replace some of the music that causes horrible slowdown in the game. Otherwise, free or not, there will be a lot of complaints.

Mild criticism, huh? Grasping for straws would be the better description. The game has some legitimate flaws, already known. Delving into bs like critiquing the simple existence of a free alternate costume pack only takes the spotlight away from actual faults that could be discussed.

That would actually be pretty cool, at least as far as costume packs are concerned.

Stop turning this into something it's not. Someone just posted the DLC costume pack, and I happen to be confused by the choice. It's relevant, topical discussion. You happen to like it. Don't read into it too much.

I'm wondering if the suspenders look will be a costume. The concept art for it looked pretty twisted. A magazine scan with some of the early concept designs is out there online.

It's already up for pre-order. I wonder if it'll go down once the sale starts.
I don't think DmC will. Unless that's a normal thing for Steam to do for Christmas sales on pre-order items.

How about you read the actual exchange between Gregaman and EventStatus before making comments like that?

Greg's messages:

http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg605/Main_Event_TV/GregmanMessagesEvent1...

http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg605/Main_Event_TV/GregmanMessagesEvent2...

EventStatus' reply to Gregman (Screenshots)

http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg605/Main_Event_TV/IreplytoGregman2.jpg

http://i1246.photobucket.com/albums/gg605/Main_Event_TV/IreplytoGregman4.jpg

As you can tell the conversation is straightforward and respectful. EventStatus brings up legit concerns with the game, the PR and the situation at CU concerning his videos (just so you know mods outright ban any EventStatus videos outright or at least used to. They also banned him).

You are obviously not familiar with the history of EventStatus and the whole DMC PR/"Pro" fans/CU debacle. He is not talking about the entire "pro" fans just specific ones who attack him personally and make the game/community look bad. People who call him racial slurs, claim he doesn't have a job or call him an "asshat". He has no problem with people calling him that, just make a video of it yourself and call him out to his face. What you are doing is exactly the kind of stuff he is talking about... complaining about complainers behind their back on other forums.

I don't deny that he tends to overreact and be arrogant but he tells it how it is. The problem is that we don't have enough of these type of people putting game companies and game journalists on blast. And he just doesn't do it to Capcom either, he goes on a tirade against EA a lot too.

None of this was my point.
I am familiar with the history as I was in the "pro" camp for ages. I've argued with Amirox...that was an ordeal. Also, I'm calling him out on being a hypocrite. I dont have to make a video of myself to call him out to his face, it's the internet and we can post comments wherever we want. I'm not involved enough to make a video of myself and put it out on the internet and have a video response argument. Too much effort. I'd rather type on a forum and give an opinion about someone I've never met and be done with it. I have no problem addressing him directly, I'm just not going out of my way to do so. How can he get mad about people leaving youtube comments instead of doing a whole video? One takes a lot more effort than the other.

If I make a youtube video of myself and post it on the internet...Big Deal.....it's still not like we're face to face or anything and it's not like I'm ever going to see him ever in my entire life.

I dont care about what all games he makes videos about. I'm calling him out on being a complete hypocrite on the stuff he's calling people out on. Someone posted a video on neogaf and I left a comment on neogaf. There's a way to "put game devs and journalists on blast" and it's not just lashing out with a bunch of emotional lashes. Good job on him actually being in contact with Capcom now. It's great that he's trying to make the game better for higher level players. Great! But he's being a hypocrite and acting holier than thou now that he's in contact with Capcom when he was just being arrogant and disrespectful by telling DMC fans that liked what they saw that they're completely wrong and they dont know what looks good and they need to have these changes, that wont affect them, in the game in order for them to enjoy it.

His videos was a bunch of flamebait even if it had a lot of truth to it.
Also, that comment that he posted about being in a "less than charged state" was posted without the screens to their exchange so people will naturally conclude that he was pissed off about something from the exchange. He didnt clarify anything, he posted about the exchange and said he needed to be in a less than charged state at the end of that statement....

I was actually just going to post that Steam offer. Pretty good deal... needs more Vergil.

Anyway I can dig that the costumes might be concept designs for new Dante.

I think the Vergil DLC isn't on deck for PC because NT is still putting work in it, and the QLOC folks are already working on RE6. So it might not be out till March-ish.

Wow, that's surprising. I actually really dig it. Home Truths, Eyeless, Crystal Core, Mundus' Theme are my early favorites.

The score feels much more ambiant in this game.

Yeah, some of those tracks are nice. Even the tracks in the demo - despite not being my normal "taste" in music seems to fit fairly well. And Ezekial, EventStatus is yet another youtube personality that goes with the yell so loudly somebody will here you philosophy. Don't worry about it - I have a feeling most people seem to agree with you about it.

Should have been his original costume, in the announcement trailer and everything. For the laffs. I like it though.

Still hoping for a Saints Row 3-style nude "costume" so the series can jump the shark in the most amusing manner possible. Live free, Dino.

No srsly, I want it.

DmC Soundtrack - samples are available
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00AN5DRHK/

This is fucking awesome. Holy shit.
Track-by-track impressions:

1. Discordant and repetitive.

2. A pretty standard ambient track.

3. WUB WUB WUB. This music brought to you by baby's first drum machine.

4. It's OK. Not much going on in this one.

5. Generic industrial noise doesn't really do anything for me.

6. This one is nice. Subdued and moody.

7. Dull ambient stuff.

8. The distorted mechanical effects might set a decent tone depending on how well the track matches the environment it's featured in.

9. Not bad. Conveys attitude without beating you over the head.

10. The best ambient track so far.

11. Another forgettable ambient track with no particular style or direction.

12. Sounds like it's building up to something better. I want to hear the full version.

13. Second best ambient track, after 10. Minimalist, but I like the dystopian feel. Sounds like it would be at home in a Terminator film.

14. Doesn't get where it's going, in this sample at least. It has the potential to be a good ambient track, but the section I heard was just kind of empty.

15. Yet another ambient track, though one of the better ones. The quantity of slow music I've heard so far makes me wonder if I should expect lots of meandering plot building and srs business in the cutscenes, like some of the more ponderous scenes in Bayonetta.

16. Even more grungy ambient music? I guess it's better than the seizure inducing punks songs in the trailers.

17. This is Mundus's theme? It would be better suited to a bulldozer with a bad paint job. (EXTREME CIVIC MAINTENANCE: THE GAME) The WUB WUB WUB doesn't do this track any favors.

18. Another ambient track. Maybe a little better than 13. Wow, there are a lot of these.

19. Surprise! A dull ambient track.

20. See 19.

21. Dat retro vibe. Easily the best track so far.

22. Nothing great, but a blessed change of tone after all of the sleepmaking dreariness it follows.

23. Slow motion hiiiiighwaaaay. That's what this track makes me think of. Dino crossing an eight lane highway with everything in super slow motion.

24. See 20. Lawd preserve my nerves.

25. Another one with a more upbeat tone, like 21 and 22. Not bad.

26. See 24. We've got to find a way out!

27. Garble gorble garble warble. It's music guys!

28. Slow and moody like so many others, but at least there's an identifiable instrument of some kind, and even a hint of a tune. Pretty good for what it is.

29. Seems like the soundtrack is trying to escape itself. Can't blame it, really.

30. See 26. Together we can make it through this. Don't follow the lights!

31. Like 8, this might be OK depending on the environment. It's not great on its own.

32. Shapeless industrial clamor.

33. See 30. Shit guys, I think we lost Steve!

34. Sounds like something is finally happening. Another rare appearance from actual instruments.

35. See 33. My eyes... I think they've stolen my eyes.

36. A much better piano rendition of 4.

Overall, I expected my ears to be offended but instead I was merely bored. With a few exceptions, this soundtrack just doesn't have much to offer.

I don't really wanna sort through all the previews. Which one is the track from the first trailer (the Dante reveal)?

And also are DmC 1 and 3 on PC any good?

DMC1 isn't on PC (they were referring to DmC, which is only used to refer to this game, as part of that bundle), and the PC DMC3 is the worst version of the game, whereas its DMC4 is the best.

Yeah I have played DMC4 on PC at a friend's house. Fucking smooth port.

Will cop it in a sale. Oh well, I should just pick up the DMC HD collection already.

Anything is better than the music in this franchise. It's too bad DmC didn't stray farther away from the "DMC sound", but it's fine I guess.

I thought DMC1 had a killer soundtrack. Don't remember 2. 3 had a really good soundtrack too, especially boss themes. 4 is kinda weak but it also had some good boss themes, and i liked the Lock&Loaded remix

Good to have you back! Any thoughts on the demo, thread, PC version, etc?
Pending. My 360 is about 80% broken and might not survive the demo. Though I'll just be picking apart the title and getting flack so what's the difference? :p

But seriously, as stupid as it may sound, I can pretty much write impressions based on video. DMC high level play is all about processing inputs and mechanics. However, I'll test out my 360 when I get a chance. So yea, pending.

In a sense you are right, but you were also missed :)

Any chance for a YouTube clip like you did with DMC3?
