I think Toriyama was completely mesmerised by Lightning when uttering those words. I bet he was thinking about her only, ha... what obsession!
I mean if he could just channel that passion in a proper way, he could have created something special. But it depends on skill too I guess, which I doubt he has.

I will not let this hatred affect my hype. But I have to say...
It is such pain to read through it. Each hate comments is a stab in my heart tbh, and will be remembered when the game launches.
But in the end I really don't care, because I know this is all fair based on the fact that the trailer does have its flaws, but I expected better from some of you (I'm not even surprised on some people comments though, based on the experience in the other FF threads lol), since the game is clearly FAR from launching, and I'm sure I will be experiencing an amazing game with a much better frame rate and the goddess being perfect as per.

Quite surprised they'd show footage from what is clearly an early build in a trailer. Realistically we know what the FFXIII engine can do visually already, so getting hung up on what the trailer looks like seems a bit silly.

It's cool looking at SE trailers. In that trailer I see Advent Children Cloud and Riku from the deep dive trailer all thanks to the scene with the sunglasses. So awesome.

Probably figured you will see the back most of the time and that's where they applied the effort.
hmm... the battle system looks interesting actually. Lightning seems to have the ability to guard/evade with precision. I always considered selecting defensive actions from a list inefficient.
And the ATB gauge is drained slowly, allowing for more player actions. That's one way of compensating for the lack of party members, and I think reducing downtime in general is a good thing.
Who knows, a more focused approach and giving the player almost direct control over Lightning's actions might benefit the game.

I don't think Wada cares much (which is wrong), he is mainly interested in salvaging FFXIV and mobile games. Kitase greenlights Toriyama because Toriyama follows his "Interactive Movie RPG" philosophy.
This all is not a problem. The problem is the fact that a guy with mediocre writing skills gets to write a game scenario.

He's an awful writter and an awful game director. It was fine when he was more restricted in the PSX era.
Remember all his crazy ideas for FF VII that were (thankfully) scrapped.
Also he ripped to pieces Aya Brea character, his work on 3rd Birthday should be never forgotten.

Don't worry. If they keep this up it won't be for long.
I think they have a huge opportunity once next gen begins. The two biggest problems this gen have been crystal tools and XIV's failure. These are the primary reasons for the XIII sequels imo. They still have plenty of talent and are financially healthy.
Once ARR is out (freeing up all their devs) and Luminous is up and running (avoiding the mistakes of crystal tools), I'm optimistic a next gen XV can begin a true return to form.

I noticed that too it looks pretty cool, since she has the sword on the back and is jumping from something it'd look like a butterfly or something from the back and maybe if you were standing in front of her as she was landing maybe alittle like batman.
I think it's pretty cool, we all know visually what the the engine is capable of visually so the video colors don't even bother me. It's a brown/greyish theme to it. This could be why SE didn't do towns this whole game could be a town. It's reminding me a lot of crisis core actually and that was fucking awesome.
