Rock Band DLC Announcements

You can trill faster than the notes displayed but not slower than them. If that makes any sense. Some of them are just weird tho

The main problem I had with trills at first is that you must anchor the higher button and tap the other one. That went completely against how I had done trills from GH1 up where I would just alternately tap the two buttons. Maybe that's where you're having a problem too?

Aah that might explain it.

Hm, no I don't think so. I mostly do the alternate tapping on slower trills where my fingers can actually manage that, and most trills are really fast :)

you guys might know.
I seem to have misplaced my dongle to connect my rock band 3 keyboard to my ps3... do you know if I got a Mad Catz Rock Band 3 Midi PRO-Adapter if i could use that to connect my keyboards to my ps3 or do I need to just buy a new set?

I'm a bit late, but man, it's getting harder to stay away from Rock Band DLC... I've got a lot other stuff to spend money on this holiday, but the 90s nostalgia is getting to me. It's great to see Harmonix is still getting some good stuff from artists that aren't already in Rock Band.

It might work. I was actually tempted to try the RB3 keys in MIDI mode via the adapter but never got around to it.

Also, when they showed Possum Kingdom on the stream, the entire song had the band idling in a crowd/band side on shot for the entire song. I wonder if it'll actually ship like that :lol

Naw, that's just how their debug tracks are. Which is why the livestream generally does the music video venues (that and all-instrument mode). Back at PAX East they had a ton of long-released DLC that did that on all the machines, like "Piece of My Heart", since they were the debug versions rather than those shipped off to Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo.

Cool. Nice bit of trivia.

Where is the Karaoke version of the game ala Blitz complete with the option to purchase a day of access to the entire library for like $4.99/$9.99 or whatever and stream the songs in as you sing them? Library is just sooooo good for that to not happen, and they probably wouldn't need to do much to make it happen :|

Just re-bought the game for PS3, I had it for 360 with a nice library of songs but sold it off (the system) :-( game feels brand new.

Still need to get RB 3 (I can't find it cheap anywhere) and debating whether to pick up the keyboard.

Excited once again, the old RB dlc is still a dollar right?

With Rock Band 3 you can have 3 singers at all times. Only RB3 songs onward have charting for harmonies but you can still be picked up with the mics.

I am talking to customer support about it so if they let me know I will let you know since you seem curious as well... so far they have been extremely unhelpful... I asked them two simple questions. How much would a replacement dongle cost, and would the adapter work... and their response was here is a form to fill out to order a dongle which we won't tell you the price of yet.

anyways, Rock Band needs more Barenaked ladies :/

I am hoping next week brings some odd DLC that I wouldn't have expected... like uh.... the little mermaids under the sea :p

on a more realistic note, anyone know when metallica's exclusive for guitar hero deal is up... I mean GH has been dead for a while it would be nice to get some new metallica for rock band.

Metallica did start their own label, as well as acquire the rights to all their albums. Maybe it will be possible now?

Harmonix actually commented on it. They said they'd like to get Metallica in, but a band going independent actually has a somewhat negative impact as the band is now touring/doing thangs while handling licensing, versus a band under a label having the label handle all the business affairs while they're out doing thangs.

So I guess Metallica getting rights to their own stuff probably made it more viable, but it'd also be up to Metallica having the time and the want to do it. I seem to remember that Metallica actually wanted their entire catalogue available via GH:M but their label shot it down at the time.

Only two actually new tracks :/

Elton John dlc is a big plus. The song selection is not. Let's hope they do an extra pack soon like they did with Billy Joel.
Edit: however I just paid attention and Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me redeems all. Shame it won't be the live version with George Michael. That is an amazing version.

Elton John finally in DLC, but that's kinda weird that I'm Still Standing already appears outside of Blitz. I guess Blitz owners are to just pick the other two out as singles. Good for Wii owners though.

hmmm I will have to check to see if the new elton john have fun keys... speaking of which customer support got back to me and reported that using the midi adapter with the rock band keyboards didn't work in their testing.

So... Who do I have to beg to in order to get me some orphaned land in the game?

And on another note, does anyone else sometimes feels like they've reached their peak playing an instrument? I'm mainly playing drums (not pro) and I just seem to be incapable of doing some beats on expert.
The parts where you have tons of the same notes really fast is a problem for me as well (freebird for example). I just hit the drums like an idiot

This might be a dumb, dumb question, but if I get the Rock Band 3 Games on Demand, nothing will be different from using my RB3 disc, right? All the previous game saves remain the same, all the DLC I've downloaded is fine, and all the previous games (RB1, RB2, LEGO RB, RB Green Day) all transfer fine, right?

Yep. The only thing you won't get is a manual code for potential exporting down the line, but everyone could just request one from EA for free for RB2...

There's also actually a bunch of new prefabs you can select as well that have shown up in Harmonix's preview vids in the GonD version

Awesome, great to hear! I already own RB3 on disc so I have the manual code, no worries. It's just much easier to not have to take out other discs when I want to randomly rock out!

What are these "prefabs" you speak of?

When you go to select your character to play as:

<your character>
<your character2>

Prefabs

Duke of Gravity
Donna Sullivan
etc...

the GonD version has ones after that named like rock_drums, elec_keys, etc.

heads up for those that dont know. RB3 games on demand version is on sale for $10 this week.

sorry if it was mentioned in this thread already.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Seems to be DLC for GH2 back in the day.

Yeah. The 360 version of GH2 had 4 MCR songs. Dead! was on-disc, and there was a DLC 3-pack with Famous Last Words, Teenagers, and This is How I Disappear.

Not that it matters, RB3 already has the only slightly-decent MCR song.

EDIT: Also, one of the songs in this new 3-pack is another repeat from Blitz. Sounds like they'll be putting 3-packs of the bands from Blitz (which will only be two-packs for people that already own it).
