Rock Band DLC Announcements

So summary off memory
- Overall just setting expectations to not expect the 7-songs weeks of yore, especially with them making new games (none of which are related to Rock Band), they have less people working on Rock Band now and it's been 2 years since the game came out. I think it's essentially expect 3-song singles weeks a lot from here on out. I think they did mention there will be an artist release this year with 7 or so tracks in a pack. I might be misremembering that though.

Fuuuuuck. Well that's it, then :(

Slightly related: does anyone know if there's a resource where I can check what MIDI sounds correspond to the piano track in songs? I know the obvious ones like Imagine and A Whiter Shade of Pale, but it's a little hard for my untrained ears to pick out the correct synth sound in many songs.

I just bought myself a Yamaha PSR-E323 that I'm going to hook up to Rock Band once I get a MIDI cable :D

You just kind of have to find the one that is closest for you. There's some like you mentioned that usually have a pretty good match, and others you just have to get 'close' as the piano/keys/synth in the song were using filters or a custom soundbank.

Also I'm going for 700 golds in Blitz

So you seem to be scoring with Sync without changing lanes. Guessing that's by a quick flick of both thumbsticks, one in each direction?

Quick RT then LT or LT then RT, depending on which lane I want to take notes from.

edit: also it seems real easy to get popped out of the drum lane when you're doing it.

Plug and play using MIDI worked fantastic. I'm pretty happy with how it works so far. Some songs are quite off, but it mostly depends on the instrument. I need to find a generally brighter piano and organ, but many sound great already. It's a bit hard to find really accurate 80's synth-y synths, most sounds I have sound much better than the distorted stuff they used to play. On the other hand, they probably vocoded the crap out of it to get that effect back then.

That's good new for me. I don't want the RB Blitz just for Dead on two Legs. I wish they publish it soon.

And I want Breaktrough by Queen.

I think you missed the memo that they were releasing the Blitz songs for cherrypickers. Also, Guitar Hero had a re-record. Rock Band has the original.

And since Harmonix cancelled their DLC stream for the holiday, you can watch mine instead!

-stream over -

(I'd do RB3 and ask some of you to join me for good times, but I still need to re-acquire a normal 5lane guitar.. my legs are too screwed up at the moment for drums)

HOLY SHIT

Bought. All of them.

I guess they also hinted the FUCK out of that with the Train Kept a Rollin goal :lol

edit: I am expecting to be blown away by Harmonix's mastering on Sweet Emotion.

It sucks that they wasted two picks with songs from their latest album, but I'm sure that was the only way they were going to get the others in the game. Would have loved to have seen Janie's Got a Gun, at least; I still can't believe that wasn't in GH:A.

Guitar Hero Aerosmith actually had pretty good charting too.

It was just a shame you had to play Aerosmith songs with Joe Perry's terrible fretboard that made certain notes hard as fuck to see

edit: also sad that we don't get Last Child.
I preferred GH2's cover over the original

Everything about that cover was magical, especially once it started going past the regular stopping point of the song.

But yeah, it would have been nice to see another legacy song show up, especially since it's such a fondly remembered one.

And, to even it out, the pack would have the covers for Infected and Heart-Shaped Box!

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Aerosmith in Rock Band? That's a surprise.
And here we thought Harmonix ran out of songs since they started putting up Blitz tracks.
Maybe this means Metallica and Van Halen packs in the future?

At least they sort-of made up for the Blitz tracks by giving us Aerosmith last week. Hopefully we get Metallica and Van Halen during this lull too.

Not sure if this is the place, but I'll try.
I have Rock Band and a PS3.
My friend has GH and an Xbox 360.
Is it possible with adapters and what not to play with his GH 360 Guitar on my RB PS3?

Thanks
