Game is so fun. I've been having a blast with it. I'm actually stopping myself from playing simply because I don't want to get too invested before the wipe. Loving my shadow though. Definitely going to start one in Open Beta again.

Haven't tried co-op yet. Will get my friends in Jan 23rd and enjoy the heck out of that.

Is it known how many "free" character slots you get?

I'm glad to hear that! I did the same thing by stopping myself, even though I want to keep going SO badly.

However, you can go here to try creating some future builds for open beta: http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree

So, for a melee Shadow, daggers or claws? I'm kinda feeling like going Ghost Reaver + Chaos Inoculation so I'm leaning towards claws since they have life leech already.

Act 3 looks good, I like how the "town" part is larger than the other two. That is my only gripe right now is these zones are so claustrophobic.

Wow, Act 3 is the first good act for POE.

It seems to follow the arpg conventions by only having one sensibly good act out of all the options. :p

But really, it is looking great :)

Oh man, I hope they are ready for launch.

It's going to kill their servers, but at the same time, they shouldn't buy new servers for a front loaded, peak server activity. It'd be a waste.

Patch 0.9.13m

* Added encryption to the game protocol.
* There are now multiple redundant patching servers and login servers for each gateway in preparation for Open Beta.
* Fixed a bug where toggling trade chat would sometimes not work correctly.
* Fixed a bug where you couldn't join a town if vast numbers of other players were joining at the same time.

Hey, so I've been playing a whole lot of Torchlight II, and I really enjoy it (which is a big surprise, because I never got into Diablo or Diablo II).
My question is, if I like Torchlight, will I like Path of Exile?

let me know if that worked, saw it posted in some stream and thought the neogaf ninjas could possibly grab it first

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?

Nice! This happened a lot of times during races... good job GGG. Also, act 3 looks ridiculous.

Hard to say as You havent really liked Diablo 2, but it will be free game in two weeks so nothing stops You from trying :)

soooo hype for this open beta!

Since I've gotten into the closed, I've talked up the game enough that 4 of my RL friends who were all D2/D3 (to a lesser extent) fans are eagerly anticipating it as well.

It can't come quick enough.

I'd honestly buy a supporter pack if the benefit was something besides a kiwi. I don't really want a kiwi following me around. Lol

The pets are completely useless in this game. They should offer another inventory or something.

This is why pets are awesome. Those are just for looks and climate. I personally wait for my raven which will pick eyes of fallen mobs.

4 days until |OT|

So happy now. Bought SSD especially for PoE.

What will it help? I've noticed that PoE loads super quickly, and my HDD isn't anything special!

You can turn them on or off. They're off by default and I always forget I could actually have a kiwi follow me. ;_;

The kiwi is honestly half the reason why I paid $25 (other half because game is awesome). I want glowing kiwis but I've already spent around $80 on Steam last sale.

Yeah PoE does not suffer from a lot of loading nor hickups because of HDD reading.

But:

1. Insta loading, don't need to wait switching levels or loading game.
2. Some skills are affected by HDD when you switch them generatic 1 sec hickups.

Damn we need SATA4. SATA3 is fast. HDD max write speed for normal HDD is like 50-80 mb/s and read is about 100MB/s for SATA3 is 500/500 and probably SATA4 will deliver again double speed so 1GB/1GB. It would mean that a lot of games would be like old SNES games without loadings.

Right now there are SSD for PCIE low profile which are 1TB and have 1500/1000MB read/write but those are expensive like gold.

That's tempting... I need to get on that eventually then :(

So if I buy this "Intel® SSD 330 Series 180GB 2.5", 25nm", and I just want PoE and some other games in it - do I just install them in those drives? Will it automatically go faster or do I have to restart my computer each time I switch from HDD/SSD (plan on keeping my HDD).

Just install them there, but the most performance boost would give You windows installed on this SDD and games You want.

You know what, I just realized something... I don't even care anymore. I'll just buy less shitty Collector's Editions of even shittier games this year. GGG, if I could send you my future babies, I'd do it too.

No it works normally. Just plug in power and sata cable and thats it.

Thought best use of SSD is to instal your operating system on it and games which you play mostly.

Windows7 with Sata3 SSD loads faster (with many programs in startup) than bios sequence. Games loads ultra fast. And few games like RAGE, Diablo 3, Witcher2, Skyrim and other which stream textures gives amazing boost.

Flame Shield "Believe"
+ 40% to Fire Resistance,
+ 20 to inteligence

Damn, dude, way to go.

Thanks a bunch, but what if I have my SSD and HDD hooked up simultaneously? If I install PoE on SSD, it should "recognize" it right and my HDD won't interfere, I take it?

Yeah, no, let's not talk about that here.

No problems.

I have 120GB SSD SATA3 Kingstone and 1TB HDD WD. Both work at same time.

My advice. Most programs which you are using, windows, and only selected games (if you have small disc) on SSD and rest like videos photos etc on your second normal HDD.

In 3-4 years SSD you will have option to buy 1TB SSD for normal price. Right now anything above 120GB is to expensive and unnesesary (if you have limited budget)

Again, thanks so much. I won't derail this thread any further (I'll PM you if I have any other questions)!

Just.. I... uh... I'm not even going to ask how you have $1000 to spare on this game. I just hope whatever unique item you add to the game is amazing :p

I'm a Bronze Supporter in the game and I can't wait for the 23! I've stopped playing since mid-december because It tore me apart each time my heroes with so many time in them to be simply destroyed. But, since it's the last time, players rejoice!

On other things, do you think I should upgrade to Silver Supporter?

I know I should probably post this in the PC Gaming thread, but I figured I'd ask here since we're discussing it.

Are there any companies with bad reputations for SSDs? How is Corsair? I've got my eye on one of their drives right now.

Its up to You :) I personally have Bronze pack, because i wanted many microtransaction points, 3 keys and OST, but dont care about physical goods or any other bonuses.
I'll will be buying more points in Open Beta for stash space and other cool features, though i still have 320 points left :p

Old OCZ is bad.
Just check the need new PC topic for recommended SSDs.

Don't get anything lower than 120GB.

Not really. Just watch for unknown companies.

Haha. Now I have 700 points (cause I paid the basic Beta Pass for 2 of my friends) and I'm waiting for the open beta to see more options in what I can pay with them.
