Fate Zero does start out very slow, establishing all the players and disturbing settings. IT starts to roll shortly afterward though.
True, but Nanoha A's is pretty awesome just for the fighting. Much better than S1.

F/Z ended 6 months ago while hyouka is fresher being a 2 cour show is what he was getting at I believe.

Honestly the only show with that kind of bias is Jojo. I can actually understand people voting for Hyouka but the Jojo votes just baffle me. At least Hyouka has the production quality you'd want in something that gets honored with the prestigious title of GAF Anime of the Year.

Some Jojo supporters haven't even watched the show and are voting on the manga.
Jojo is OK though, definitely not the best show of the year though and is carried by the source material as opposed to its merit as a show however. It deserves better.

It definitely was cute. Maybe it's showing it's age by now tho.
Sometimes you have to recognize that things you like aren't perfect. Acknowledge the troublesome aspects. The first half isn't too problematic.

Is episode 6 really considered the most boring of the whole series? I can't imagine how boring it must be compared to this episode. Even the characters seemed bored. This mystery about Chitanda's uncle is turning out to be really boring. I hope something happens in the next episode.

It depends on what you are comparing. Both are very well produced shows, which are doing entirely different things and are pretty hard to directly compare like that.

Absolutely true. Nanoha A's ramps up everything awesome in Nanoha to ridiculous levels.
I guess thats why the A's boxset is stupidly overpriced.
If its not your bag it just isn't/ I watched episode 1 with my mother actually and she mostly enjoyed it.
Misaki is not there yet. Also you can just skip to the Festival Arc and miss nothing.

The most interesting part to me still seems to be the lack of any real empathy between Hiro and Shinji. I was expecting some NTR shenanigans when Shinji met Kobu, but the fact that he didn't seemed phased by him (second time he meets Kobu apparently) either speaks of great trust on Hiro or that he doesn't really get his girlfriend at all. Also, despite sleeping together, there are not any signs that they had sex (which would have been bad since she was drunk and all), as she woke up fully clothed and stuffz. It's a relationship doomed to failure.
Great show, will continue watching.

I wish I could articulate why the introductory Hyouka episodes didn't seem to put me off as much as they did for others here, but it's been a long time and I'm horrible at these sort of things anyway. Something about really liking the characters, script, and voices, I guess.
Protip: Don't listen to this.
Especially as you'll miss the introduction to the (apparently) most :chet character in the show.

Seen this one before. Shame it's kindle only or I'd buy it for curiosity's sake.
I'm down with that though I don't have that many. (always the time to get more I guess.)
The last two shows to win AOTY were Madoka and Panty and Stocking.
It'd leave me feeling inadequate.
So a hit and a miss.
