There likely won't be any of Nintendo's heavy hitters in this direct, but something smaller like Wave Race isn't out of the question. Personally, I'm really hoping for a new IP that's really fresh and unique, but I don't expect to see that either.
If Wave Race is small, I'd probably poop my pants at the first sign of something "big". :p

Bet you $1000 they somehow snagged exclusivity (permanent, or for a limited time) of Rocksteady's new game. Be it Arkham World/Universe or their new IP.

I hate to say it, but a classic Star Fox game just isn't enough game anymore, unless it has co-op, online versus multiplayer, customizable arwing parts........

Fuck! I want a classic Star Fox game now too!

Nintendo doesn't need any kind of competitive FPS if they can cook up a Star Fox game with competitive 8 vs. 8 online multiplayer. That would be incredible.

Ha good point. Not what I was implying though. I meant Smash, Mario, Zelda. Nintendo's pillars. Some people are expecting to see them in this direct and I just don't think it will happen

Not really hyped for this, I'm pretty sure Nintendo is holding the big shit back for E3 to counter new console reveals.

But that may be counter productive. The hype for new console reveals is going to win E3 regardless. It will overwhelm anything they can show, and in the meantime, the lack of known, interesting software on the horizon is hurting hype for the Wii U, and possibly hurting sales.

The way things have been going lately, by the time E3 gets here, nobody will even be thinking about Wii U.

Ha until they reveal some Zelda clip and have people crying in the audience or something crazy. Miyamoto comes out on a horse this time and people feint. Nintendo, the only company that makes gamers cry.

Wii U really needs to clean up and speed up its OS and release some games that people will want. In time I know Nintendo games will come and delivery along with digital games. If the OS and TVii are still lacking when that happens none of that will matter in the long run and I think they know that.

Except expecting anything online from Nintendo is like expecting Microsoft/Sony to lower the prices of digital releases.

Nintendo just isn't into the idea of online MP unless it's Mario Kart or Smash Bros. And the only reason those games have online is because of fan demand (and also, mostly for Mario Kart, how easy it is to get the netcode to be perfect). They've made their stance pretty clear and haven't seemed to change it much at all.

They think local MP > online MP, also, so lol.

Do some people have the feeling that this Direct will be to counter the slower sales of Wii U in the west, along with the recent leaks of the other two next-gen systems' specs? I know Nintendo isn't ignorant to what goes on in the video-game industry.

It may get a number of people to impulse buy from the hype of the announcements if they are good.

Quickly guys, wash your eyes watching this:

It's more to say to investors "GUYZ THE WII U IS GOING TO BE AWESOME PLEASE DONT SELL YOUR STOCK IN OUR COMPANY HERE'S BRAND NEW GAMEZ"

It might be part of Nintendo's plan to get gamers committed to the Wii U before the 720 / PS4 megatons start, but I really don't think Nintendo is very much focused on Sony / MS at all.

More dreaming than expecting ;-)

There's never been a ND with more potential than this one... We REALLY need to know more about future Wii U titles. Don't let us down!

It's sad that I know my dream of an online Four Swords will never happen.

In 30 mins? At Iwata's rate of speaking that he does in these directs?

2 new titles. Max.

Name drops with a bit of teaser gameplay only take like 30 seconds.

"Here is a list of Wii U titles that are currently in development.

"MONOLITH'S NEW GAME. It is about BLA BLA BLA.

"RETRO's NEW GAME. Bla bla bla.

"We will show off these new titles and will give you more information at E3."

Or they could just show off 1 minute 30 second teasers.

I'm cool with any of that.

I bet more people think that than you dare give credit to. Take off your hardcore gamer hat for a minute and realize that hardcore gamers are only a small fraction of the overall gamers.

I was so hoping the re-release of Four Swords last year was going to have online. Dreams were dashed very quickly though.

So I've just come to expect Nintendo to never grow out of their "no online MP" shell (except for the two titles I mentioned). Just imagine if they expanded on what franchises had online MP. Mario Party, Star Fox, F-Zero, etc.

But nope. :(

If this really is more about easing the fears of investors, it is more likely that we get a Wii Sports U announement than a Monolith Soft announcement.

They also may show a sizzle reel.
