seems legit.

Only 500k for homefront though?
Well I'm guessing they're just buying the IP seeing as they're already making the game, whereas in the case of Evolve its likely the team, game and IP. Could be wrong though.

Edit: looking at that figure for Relic and CoH, the Evolve thing must just be the IP or something...

What the hell is going on with Homeworld and Impossible Creatures?

Evolve's the Turtle Rock game, right?

Yeah, they they overpaid.

Crytek has yet to make a bad game. I'm fairly confident that their Homefront was always going to be a game worth playing.

I've learned to be critical of "vertrauliche Quellen" but I'd have 0 complaints if this was true. The WH40k thing is a bit weird though, I somehow doubt it'd be sold at a THQ auction.

Not knowing the contract clauses between THQ and GW. If it's true Games Workshop should have a final word?

The only conceivable reason I could imagine if Volition honestly wasn't sold yet was if companies were still bidding for it.

a) Sega buys Relic and Company of Heroes: 26 Mio. $

German website reports that:
a) Sega buys Relic and Company of Heroes: 26 Mio. $
b) Koch Media buys Evolve: 5,2 Mio. $
c) Crytek buys Homefront: 500.000 $

Volition, Vigil, Metro: Last Light and some Warhammer 40k Licences not sold yet.

If true that's some major kudos to SEGA for splashing the cash when everyone assumed they were broke or unable to bid on office furniture never mind Relic.

I'm surprised that Koch Media made a bid let alone won anything. I wonder if they are using all that Dead Island money to aggressively expand.

Only 500k for homefront though?

While that's actually a bargain for the IP it's not really a surprise. Given the 'political sensitivity' around the concept of Homefront you were never going to get the likes of WB or EA bidding for it.

South Korea is a massive market for these media companies and they do not want to start pissing them off with stuff like Homefront.

Yeah, I imagined the rights would revert back to Games Workshop. I have no idea how these things work, though.

From what we've heard, GW has very, very strict license clauses. It's practically impossible that a random publisher could just run up and buy the license and GW would have to take it without complaint. It's more likely that they're carrying the license over to SEGA and continue working with Relic. That German site is either speculating or there's more brewing behind the scenes.

Evolve's the Turtle Rock game, right?

Yup, runs on CryEngine 3 as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if SEGA came to an agreement with Games Workshop for the 40k license too after they got the fantasy one.

Hope it's true about SEGA/Relic.

Also hope the news that Koch haven't bought Saints Row/Volition doesn't mean EA/Activision get them. Please no.

It would be pretty bitter sweet Sega giving a home to Relic and WH40K going to another publisher/dev.

maybe the license is going to run out quickly, in which case it makes more sense for Sega to just wait and then get it from GW directly. Would propably be cheaper

I get why Homefront is so cheap (just the IP), but why is Evolve going for so much less than Company of Heroes? Is it just the IP, or the team too, or just the game up to now or what?

Wait, Koch aren't buying SR and Volition? EVERYTHING IS MOVING TOO FAST PLEASE SLOW DOWN A MOMENT.

They're still bidding over it. Koch just had the highest bid last time we heard about it.

GODDAYUM THIS IS SO INTENSE.

If there's any truth to it, the $26m were for the IP and Relic while Evolve is just an IP and Turtle Rock will remain independent.

Turtle Rock Studios are not aquired by THQ. THQ was just the publisher for Evolve, so i think Koch Media bought the IP and the game and will replace THQ as publisher.

Which why its still strange since Crytek Seoul worked on warface which is a big deal over there.

I believe the reason why Homefront sold so cheap is because Crytek maintained THQ couldn't sell it to another publisher or something. Essentially, I believe the only option was to sell Crytek the rights.

Also I guess there's no doubt now, no way Clearlake's bid will outweigh the piece meal ones. Bye bye THQ, thanks for trying to do something different :(

How big is Koch Media? I can't imagine they get both Evolve and Saints Row. Probably means Saints Row was way over their budget.

Well, as of now these are still rumours but Clearlake's $50-60m bid was never going to pass with Volition and Saints Row up for sale.

Yeah, realistically I knew that but as THQ is one of my favorite gaming companies (CoH, DoW, Darksiders, Red Faction, Summoner, Saints Row, Metro) I held out hope, foolishly.

Dead Island probably made them a fair bit of cash but if there's a bidding war over Saints Row it probably won't be enough.

Really? I didn't know that. Hmmm. Unless Homefront 2 takes a different tone or angle it does seem a strange decision by Crytek.
Why? They're making the sequel, it's cheap, so why not? I don't see how Warface's popularity in South Korea would make it a problem, a mass boycott isn't something that's very likely to happen.

They aren't owned by THQ but are licensed by them so I assume they aren't included in the auction.
Yeah I think we've heard before that the Metro rights aren't THQ's to sell, so I would've thought that anyone who picked up Last Light would also have to re-license the rights to be able to sell it.
