The Wii U part at E3 will be Wii U Sports, Wii Fit U, price cut, software udates and repeat of previous demo reels. Maybe some Smash Bros pics. Just my 5 cents.

Possible. But if MS/Sony reveal their new consoles, Nintendo should have some new game to keep Wii U relevant.

Not to mention Pokemon. For some reason Nintendo forgot about that franchise during the Wii gen

Not really. The Wii got 4 Pokemon games including the WiiWare rumble game which is the same amount the Gamecube got.

Other than the 3D battle arena games, they're largely forgettable for any home console though.

man excitebots was amazing. sadly it bombed so hard it didn't even releas in EU though, so hope for a sequel is probably slim to none.

that game was the definition of a stealth launch though, just came out of nowhere with zero marketing behind it, don't know why they sent it to die.

I'd also love to throw some Chibi Robo in the mix. God I loved those games.

Basically unveil their entire E3 line up during Nintendo direct?

This would be a major mistake. Gamers and press would of course be super excited and euphoric - but Nintendo would not have any surprise or big announcement for E3. And they need some mind-blowing stuff there to make sure that not everyone will just talk about PS720.

My guess for today is that they will mainly show off already announced games and services (Pikmin, TW101, Virtual Console, Google Maps, Panorama View, etc.). They may show one or two games which we don't officially know yet (Yoshi's Land, etc.). I don't think that we will see anything from Monolith, EAD Tokyo or Retro today. Smash Bros. or Animal Crossing would be the best thing which could possibly happen.

Is the NoE stream just NCL presentation but translated ?

It should be as it is announced as presented by Iwata. If it were a specific one it would be presented by the awesome Satoru Shibata.
EDIT: actually, I imagine Iwata will have recorded one in japanese and one in english, who knows if with slightly different focus.

Regardless of whatever Nintendo shows, it will be swallowed up in Microsoft and Sony console discussions.

Might as well add in my realistic predictions:

  • Formal Wii U Virtual Console announcement, upgrade your old VC titles to GamePad support for $1.99 each
  • Mention of GCN titles but no information yet
  • Google Maps Street View release date
  • Panoramic View release date
  • Details on first major Wii U firmware update
  • One somewhat major game reveal, something like Monolith or the rumored Yoshi game, not Retro/Mario U/Smash 4
  • An original first party Wii U eShop game announcement, think stuff like Pushmo/Harmoknight/Dillon's Rolling Western
  • A quick reminder of previously announced games coming in Q2

Aiii

So not worth it
Showing exciting games is equally as exciting as new consoles, potentially moreso

Esp if those new consoles are likely not coming out until 2014 (European speaking here) whereas Nintendo will likely be showing games I could playing by November/December.

Agreed, but relevant for whom? E3 is the gaming event with the biggest non gaming journalism coverage. Thats why Usher is dancing there or with other words, E3 audience is way more casual. You have to focus on them, and this is why E3 is overall going more and more into that direction.

An hour and thirty minutes. Yeah now I'm hyped. I honestly think it's reading the pre-Nintendo Direct anticipation threads that just fan the hype flames. I don't even think I'd be bothered if I hadn't just spent the last hour reading this thread. Also watching the NeoGAF reactions live as the Nintendo Directs air are one of the best parts about them. From reading the OP it seems we can watch this in English at the same time as the Japan broadcast? That's awesome. At least Nintendo's keeping the Western world on par with Japan.

So yeah. I'm hyped. I shall be returning in about an hour and a half; possibly ten minutes before the Direct for the reactions and potential meltdowns. I have a feeling Nintendo's going to announce something big. I can't see them meeting everyone's expectations but something tells me they have at least one megaton ready to go. The question is; what is it going to be? I'm going throw out a prediction and say it's a mainline Mario game. Potential sequel to the Galaxy series. I can't see Zelda as Skyward Sword was too recent. Mario though. Strong possibility. I'd love to see something like Metroid too but for now I'm going with Mario.

Only ninety minutes left.

Nintendo buys Vigil Games and announces a new hardcore Western project on the Nintendo Direct, exclusive to the Wii U.

...Everyone goes nuts.

Probably one of the best predictions so far. I'd take out the part about Monolith's game, but otherwise this oprobably could happen.

Not a chance in hell of that happening lol.

Miyamoto talked about the possibility of Retro Studios making the Wii U Zelda completely in-house.

He said he would "probably have to move to Texas" to make it happen. But he at least acknowledges this kind of stuff.

Retro Studios and Vigil Games are both situated in Austin, Texas. I assume Nintendo could have the two developers collaborate and help each other on their projects.

Watching a youtube video of Pokemon Pokedex Pro 3D is a good time waster

I found the free version of that on the 3DS surprisingly addictive, coming from someone apathetic about the series for nearly a decade now. Really hope they reuse those nice 3D assets for Smash or another console game.

Reasonable but sort of a let down at the same time. They may as well be invisible if Sony or MS do show off their next gen wares within the next two months and this is all Nintendo has to offer.

I know it won't happen but I really would like some more light shone on SSB4 and Bayonetta 2. They're technically announced Wii U games; even just a logo for the former and a quick bullet point or two about how the latter's shaping up would be enough.

Retro has proven that they have the quality to tackle that and even then that was still with Nintendo watching them very closely.

Vigil on the other hand has not done that at least to Nintendo standards, Darksiders has not really set the world on fire in terms of critical reception compared to the Metroid Prime Trilogy and DKCR for example.

Nintendo is incredibly protective of Zelda, i just don't see them letting Vigil mess around with it before proving that they can.

Oh if Nintendo does announce a Wii U eShop title, watch it become available today since they love doing that shit.
