Konami would "absolutely" consider Castelvania: Mirror of Fate HD/console version

Currygan

at last, for christ's sake
I don't care, I still want to play a portable Castlevania

way to kill potential 3DS sales anyway, Konami

Way to give back Nintendos "support" by basically announcing HD ports lol. I hope this game comes with a demo.

I wonder if Nintendo would do a Wii U version if they have an exclusivity deal for Mirror of Fate.

I don't think Nintendo would do anything... It would be Konami.

And I assume Wii U would be included in 'HD consoles' but you can never be sure...

The game looks as lame as Revelations. Big on graphics and show, horrible game design.

No way. Revelations is an impressive game in 3DS, Mirror of Fate not so much. But I agree that it also seems to fail in the game design.

Man, everything about this Castlevania is SO disappointing. Bring IGA back :(

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Cox said they will release the demo before the game comes out.

David Coxx is the man. This guy is so good to his fans and always takes time to answer even the dumbest questions on twitter.

If the possibility of a port kills your hype for the original version it means the game was on the wrong platform in the first place.
I'm not even interested in the game but you can totally understand why people prefer to wait the good version instead of buying a game that performs terribly and looks incredibly worse...
Not to be rude, but why own a 3DS at all if portability and 3D mean nothing to you?
Because it probably will end up being the more supported handheld/nintendo console for the next 4-5 years?

Well Mirror of Fate is exclusive for 3DS according to Dave Cox, so I take it Nintendo can ask Konami for a Wii U version before any other HD console.

If it comes out for the HD i doubt it will come out on wiiu sincerely, the way he responded on the possibility of LoS2 on wiiu and the way he talked about that they have to get rid of the nintendo exclusivity before announcing anything makes me think that is only for non nintendo platforms

Didn't Konami shitcan all the entire purpose of buying Snake Eater on 3DS when there was a console version that contained the same game along with a few others? Isn't this similar in principle? You're getting an announcement of a potentially better, other version before the release of a portable game they want you to buy.

I think the framerate in Mirror of Fate is fucking awful, and this announcement has practically promised me I can wait for a later version.

This is weirdly blatant.

It's so blatant that I kind of question the wisdom of it. Ideally you would get more sales if you batted around the idea of a port later after everyone that wanted to buy Mirror of Fate 3DS already did so.

Doesn't this way ensure fewer sales overall?

If they officially announced it with PR, screens, trailer an all, sure. But just an interview that not so many people will read probably and that says "Ehi, MAYBE we will release it on HD if the game sells well on 3DS!" doesn't sound like something that can influence so much sales. Maybe a little, but just a little.

It's not like I have hard data, but you already have people here saying they would buy it but now they won't.

It's impossible to extrapolate that to a wider audience, but if it has any effect, it's lowering sales, not raising them.

How about every game... on both HD and handheld! As well as PC. Platform parity and no exclusivity!

Fuck me right?

It was the original plan with WiiU/Vita according to some rumours so its not too shocking.
The fact is 3DS is growing whilst the main consoles are slowing down and seeing massive declines in hardware and more importantly; software.

We might see a good few multiplatform games over the next 2-3 years. Sony gets its 10 year life cycle \o/

Totally gutted and ruined Snake Eater on 3DS. It was original a sizeable project with new cut-scenes designed a bit more for the 3D effect and possibly new gameplay planned. They regulated it to some other studio with no one from Kojimas team really involved and probably cut the budget a lot.

I, for one, was going to get the 3DS version on day 1, but now I will wait for the Wii U version. If there is no Wii U version, no problem, as I'm sure the 3DS version will be discounted by then.

As someone already said the game already do not have any kind of ads and pr talk behind it so it's safe to assume that the people who are still interested in the game are the same who will read news and interviews like this...

maybe bad sales of the 3DS version is going to bring IGA back :)

Let's hope so...

Well, let me know, I'd rather play it on my TV, I would have did the same for Revelations, but at the time I had no idea it was coming to PS3.

It won't help, but I don't buy the notion that this is going to have any significant impact. There seems to be a few people already preparing to blame this quote when the game inevitably bombs, when I don't buy that it has a sizable audience to begin with.

I sent a tweet with a link to this thread to Dave Cox and he actually replied.

Lol considering something and doing something are two very different things :) truth is we don't have any plans right now

When they have a deal with Nintendo in place, why would they even talk about ports at this point? One should assume that being silent about the chances of a port is part of the deal...

His phrasing was vague enough that it could be considered speculation. Of course if you read between the lines it's pretty blatant. But good on him, at least it's honest.

- "Mr. Cox, any chance of Lords of Shadow 2 appearing on Wii U?"
- "Sorry, no chance at all."
- "Oookay... so how about HD port of Mirror of Fate?"
- "Absolutely! That could definitely happen."

Gotta admire his honesty at least.

Yeah... what's the deal with this?

Saying "We have the hd version of the game on our PCs" hardly is speculation...

I'm kind of surprised at how blatantly honest he is.

"Yeah this is all ready for HD, but uh we have this exclusivity contract right now, but call me later!"

Yeah, I'm baffled by it. Even saying what he did doesn't help anyone. This isn't as bad as Capcom announcing RE4 for PS2 a month before the Gamecube version launched but it's still not very smart.

He said: "We created everything in high definition - all the textures, all the levels, high-poly models, everything - and we kind of shrunk it all down into the 3DS.

This pretty much tells me the game is ready for HD platforms, but like Nirolak said, they just have to wait for the exclusivity moneyhat time to run out.

Nintendo's exclusivity deals probably state that ports are possible to all platforms after one year, except Vita.

That's very possible, something similar happened with SMB and IIRC MS specified in the contract that after exclusivity ran out they could not port the game over to PS3, even after the exclusivity windown ran out. I also think they were gonna port it to Wii, but that didn't pan out because of other reasons.

If RE: Revelations is anything to go by, around one year and an half after Mirrors of Fate's release on 3DS.

Different contracts mean different time frames. I don't think Nintendo would be willing to pay to keep Castlevania exclusive as opposed to a full on 3D RE game, but I might be wrong.

I will absolutely not consider buying Castlevania: Mirror of Fate HD/console or any other version, so we're even Konami.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Why would he do that one month before the games release ? Way to RE4 the 3DS version....

Would love a 1080p Steam version though

Yea that was unexpected lol.

Are there any other games on the 3DS that this could possibly happen to?

Ok then Wii U release and everyone's happy.

Knowing Konami, they'll port this game to all consoles BUT the Wii U despite the fact that the game released on 3DS.

EDIT: Didn't see Sammy's post.

Still hoping for LOS 2 for Wii U. I Just don't trust Konami when it concerns Nintendo.
