Rayman Legends coming to Xbox 360/PS3, all versions releasing in September

From 3 weeks away to 7 months away. Yikes.

Maybe when Nintendo asked, UBI said -again- that it wasn't ready for a February release.

Hell broke loose with Nintendo basically saying f**k-off to UBI which, in turn, went multi-platform even delaying the WiiU version.

Don't be surprised if WiiU version is cancelled at the end.
lol wat

"[the delay is] really about the fans. It’s really about having a very interesting universe, a mix of craziness and poetry mixed all together. We are very happy that we can bring that to many, many Rayman fans and the more we can, the better.”

Oh fuck you.

Are you fucking kidding me. This game was, at some point, going to land on other platforms. I think we all knew that. But to delay the Wii U version? That's some bullshit.

My friend will probably be back in school by the time it releases, so even if I bought it there is little chance we'll get to do co-op gaming because our September schedules get busy. September was already my GTA5 month.

At least she can get the game on PS3 now.

Maybe the game wasn't actually done or they are cutting and adding material to make all versions have the same stuff (bye bye murphy shit?) which is why the wiiu game was delayed

Assuming the PC version comes to fruition (do we know how Origins performed on the PC?), I hope the original game is included as a pre-purchase incentive, a la Origins and Rayman 2 (the sequel in lieu of Rayman Forever was an oddball decision). The earlier games are on GoG, so they're ready to go.

I don't think I really mind that it's coming to other platforms. I'm just upset I have to wait half a year to get my hands on it.

Yup; the days of eternal exclusives are for the most part over. Everything is going to end up almost everywhere eventually. It just sucks to know the game is done and we can't play it for six months because of reasons having nothing to do with the game's doneness. Just secret launch it on the U! Sell direct from the Ubisoft store, no marketing. Then do an official launch later!

Delaying to the fall on the Wii U and risking direct competition with Mario is just asking for disapppointing Wii U numbers, sadly.

From what I understand the Wii U version has been ready to go since last fall but then somebody realized that putting Rayman up against the Mario juggernaut was not the best idea hence the first delay.

So now they are going to be putting it up against possibly three now instead of one. *shakes head*

Why delay the fucking game? Just release it now on the Wii U and later on the remaining platforms.

Ugh.

Yeah, right

Ugh

That's a massive delay, wow. Also, much like I preferred Rayman Origins on Vita, I'd prefer this one on it that much more, given the gameplay it has ties to screen rotation controls etc. It'd be perfect. At least PS3 version probably will use controller sixaxis rotation for the same kind of thing.

I think we'll see a lot of this in Japan with PS3 getting a lot of Wii U titles.

PS3 doesn't have the massive install base lead in japan over Wii U that PS3/360 have over Wii U in the US/Europe (portables are dominant in Japan), so that could end up being a different situation.

I have no problem with it going multiplat, the more people can play it the better, but delaying what is obviously a finished game is a gigantic dick move.

Who gives a shit really? If it lands on more platforms, that's fine. People already have the chance to play it.

This however...this shit feels more like consumer betrayal more than anything else. This game was coming in a few weeks man. I was REALLY looking forward to this holding me off till Monster Hunter. Now September? I may not even give a shit then depending on surrounding software releases.

Fucked. Up.

Like I said, bargain bin at 10 Bucks or used. The only game I was looking forward to before MH. And it's done too.

Why fuck them for releasing an amazing game that more people can play now?

What's so hard to understand about it being delayed from a few weeks to about half a year? It's nice that it's going multiplatform but to delay the Wii U version is beyond stupid.

I think the delay has nothing to do with the ports. My best guess is that Rayman was supposed to be a timed exclusive, but probably had to be delayed. So Nintendo/ Ubisoft terminated the exclusivity contract, because they needed this title in Q1 and not Q4.

I'm going to laugh when this game inevitably bombs. Good jobs screwing it up Ubisoft!

You can't honestly believe this, can you? Really?

Not a chance in hell I'm picking this up at full price now, not with Killzone and GTA dropping at the same time, then the Wii U holiday lineup. Hell I'm probably pushing it to 2014 now.

Way to go, Ubi.

I'm not even mad about the exclusivity loss, though, just the delay into oblivion.

The sad thing is that I think this hurts the Rayman series as much as it does Nintendo. Being a system exclusive puts a fairly large spotlight on a game and in general makes all of the fanboys a little tingly. Add this to the fact that it is being bumped from a content starved release period to a holiday that not only has other large exclusives but also the launch of two new systems. Crazy. We've seen what a fall released multiplatform Rayman game does sales wise and it isn't all that hot. My prediction is that due to poor sales the series will end up on hiatus after this mess.

Wii U is a mess. That was the last time I bought a console on launch day. And when I hear about MS plans shitting on second hand games I think the Wii U will be my last console for quite a while.

That really sucks for WiiU owners. Some tough years of abusive third party practices ahead for the system.

That said, is there any hope there'll be a PC version for this?

Why fuck them for releasing an amazing game that more people can play now?

I am not mad because it lost exclusivity and am getting sort of insulted people keep acting like that is the only reason anyone was upset.

The game had a date set for only a few weeks from now.

This leaves two options:

1) They knew it would be impossible to make since the last delay in Winter 2012 and have outright lied about it.

2) They are delaying a finished game.

I can be unhappy with either of those and I don't need your permission or approval to be so.

those of us that bought a Wii U because they liked the look of the game as we've previously seen it would probably be upset if they removed all the 'murfy shit'. Obviously anyone who bought and enjoyed Origins can get Legends on the same platform (most likely) and not have to deal with it in any way shape or form.

I'm not even sure i want to buy the game now. Even if i loved the Wii U demo on eshop. Ubisoft doesn't deserve the money from that fucking stupid decision. I don't care about losing exclusivity, but delaying an already done version that was going to be released in a few weeks TO SEVEN FUCKING MONTHS? Screw that, i won't support this.

It was supposed to release this month, now instead of releasing the finished Wii U game, then the other versions later, they're delaying that version too, it's bullshit.

Wii U can't catch a break.

So much for Nintendo improving their relationship with third-party publishers. They're more alone than ever.
It's the 3rd-parties' loss, really. If they want to only release games on PS3, 360, PC, their successors and Vita and not 2 potentially successful platforms like Wii U and 3DS that's their fault.

That last sentence sounds really sarcastic, but I really do think Nintendo can make Wii U succeed on their own. They'll have well-crafted games that will sell millions and millions. The disappointment is almost entirely from expecting any competence from 3rd-parties.

Someday the press is going to highlight this. Seeing as there wasn't much critical thought about the model this gen, I don't see it happening anytime soon.

"This delay is all about the fans. We thought they probably didn't want to play it in a fortnight, and would like to wait until September"
