Rayman Legends coming to Xbox 360/PS3, all versions releasing in September

My aunt & uncle run a Mom & Pop store, "The Gamecube Hut", and sold 80k WiiU within minutes of opening.

Errr... How about we start with the bad news, Doc.
Doctor RichIGN said:
I'm very sorry but you have contracted negagameus excluwiiuvius, a bacterial disease that attacks your body's ability to produce testosterone, sapping your drive to compete.
And the good news?
Doctor RichIGN said:
Intersting. I said interesting.
Ok, go ahead...
Doctor RichIGN said:
Oh! Negagameus excluwiiuvius is very rare and very exotic. You are the first documented case in over 75 years! Modern medicine doesn't have a clue how to treat it.

If anyone thinks this game isn't done and sitting until Sept needs to get their head checked.

Ubi would have a better chance of more sales now with a game starved system, but maybe that went over their head...

May as well remove the demo off the e-shop too.

What's crazy is all the people who suddenly aren't going to buy the game now even if it turns out well. All of a sudden now it was only good as winter/spring filler? Or do people just spite themselves and not play a game they may like to make some kind meaningless indignant stand over an entertainment product?

So the game was two weeks away from release, then Ubisoft is delaying the Wii U version for 7 months for no real reason at all?
People will not pay $60 for a 7 month old game even if it is newly released for a console. The value of a game decays from the moment it is released. Ubisoft is acting in its best interest. Nintendo should offer them an equivalent amount of money if they want Rayman to be a timed exclusive.

You'll call them out but not specify? Seems like an odd line to draw.

People getting upset solely about the loss of exclusivity and were mocking people about the same thing before should probably be called out. Don't see how it's random if they're clear enough that you can remember them.

Don't see the benefit of doing so unless they said something to me personally in a debate here.

Yes, because those millions of people will be buying Rayman Legends, not GTA V or any other big AAA games coming out that month.

Yeah, since it's somehow impossible to buy multiple games in the same month.

03/05 The Amazing Spider-Man: Ultimate Edition
03/18 LEGO City Undercover
03/19 Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
Need for Speed: Most Wanted - A Criterion ...
The Croods: Prehistoric Party!
03/26 The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct
04/16 Injustice: Gods Among Us
05/21 Resident Evil: Revelations
05/24 Sniper Elite V2

Ok so with Rayman gone this is where we end up. And with Nintendo now saying Pikmin is Q2/Summer I get the feeling that won't drop till June at this point. What a disaster

Ouch... Nintendo - Ubisoft relations must be at a super-low right now.

I wouldn't say that. Ubi probably saw Nintendo revising down installed base projections and made the call to delay. Raymam Origins sold like ass out of the gate, and they didn't want a repeat performance at the end of their Fiscal Year. This will probably happen with Durango/Orbis as well if they don't take off like rockets. There is just too much money in those large installed bases.

I'm a Wii U owner, so this sucks, but I got a backlog anyway, so I'll live.

All the more reason to not tie themselves to any one console. I always thought the idea of a Rayman game limited to one console was a stupid idea. Especially when that console is a brand new one.

The decision comes down to having a small console userbase to themselves, vs having another multiplatform game that will probably bomb like its ancestor.

Faced with the safe decision of making it multiplatform later and have it sell as badly as Rayman Origins, I tend to think the right decision would have been taking the risk with the WiiU version. It was going to bomba either way.

I know the person who posted this one. It was purely for facetious purposes.

uPlay Miiverse really is fucking insane right now though. Didn't think it'd catch on so quick.

Well I assumed some of those in miiverse were jokes one anyway, there was one saying "Join the resistance" with a doodle of ubisoft slashed with a line.

I just posted the ones I found amusing, but looking back I guess that one in particular does stands out as mocking in nature.

Oh people will eventually buy it, but not day one. It's really close to Black Friday and the game could potentially hit bargain prices at that point. Why spend $60 on Rayman Legends when I could spend it on GTA V or Pikmin 3? I'm sure the game will be great but I'll wait for that $20-30 price tag.

Pretty much not buying any Wii U games until they announce W101 or Pikmin 3 release dates.

I don't think there is a straight "win" situation. Obviously the install base isn't satisfactory for 3rd parties right now. Nintendo releases their heavy hitters and increases the install base, and 3rd parties will complain about competing with Nintendo.

why does Ubisoft want to kill rayman? origins released in november against call of duty and a packed schedule

now legends comes out against GTA V and the zelda remake and probably other games.

what are you doing ubi?

If Legends was released around now, I think a lot of Wii U owners would have picked it up due to the relative game drought on the console as of now. Now though, more people will pick up Wind Waker HD, Mario Kart U, Wonderful 101 - leaving Rayman Legends on the Wii U platform with less than desirable sales.

You'll have the same situation on the PS3/360, with a lot of AAA titles probably stealing the intended consumer's mind share.

I'll still pick up Rayman Legends, but probably only once I've finished the AAA Nintendo games coming out Q4 - so sometime after Legends has hit the bargain bins.

It's more the case that there will be other games out in September which are more attractive. New consoles are due out, GTAV steamroller will be at full tilt and the market will be totally different. Now, at this time, Ray man is attractive. In September? I'm not sure people will still be that interested.

There's a chance you won't need it for Bayo 2, but W101 will never go anywhere else.

EDIT: I don't get why people are pissed at IGN, they didn't even suggest it was going to be good news.

If Nintendo is truly funding Bayonetta 2(and "growing the brand" as they said which to me feels an inclusion in Smash Bros for Bayonetta and note the visit by Sakurai to Platinum Games) then I highly doubt they will let it go anywhere besides Wii U.

People are over-reacting to Ninja Gaiden 3 Razors Edge and Raymen Legends. Sure Nintendo was involved in attempting to get them to come to Wii U exclusive but it was not nearly as deep of an involvement as they are getting into with Platinum Games.

Nintendo won't do shit and we all know it. When eventually asked about the state of third-party support and the significantly diminished launch window schedule, Iwata will give us another apology and Reggie will try to work his PR bullshit to make it not sound so bad.

That's why Iwata and Reggie needs to leave Nintendo at once. They don't give a damn about 3rd-party support at all.

axisofweevils

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
Yep. This reminds me of what Third Parties did to the 3DS at launch. Remember games like Gabriella's Ghostly Groove and Cave Story 3D being delayed? Then when they were released, no one cared because we had games like Mario.

So who thinks that the WiiU version got cancelled?
A delay of seven months to let the normal gamers forget about this game and release it for PS3/ 360 at the same time when MarioKart/ Zelda HD arrive on WiiU.

Fuck you Ubisoft. I played your game at the Wii U Experience last year and I bought a Wii U specifically for it. I understand that you want to released the game for the 360 and PS3 as well, but couldn't you at least release the Wii U version in February and the other versions in September?

Yeah, Bayonetta 2 going anywhere is highly unlikely.
AFAIK, no other game has ever gone to another console after having been funded and "helped" by a console maker.

The thing about Rayman Origins is that it did sell quite a bit eventually. Initially I remember a lot of people saying, "A good Rayman game? Really?" That bit of skepticism is now erased. I doubt we'll see the same reluctance to give Legends a chance that we did Origins initially. Also didn't help that Origins came out against CoD and Skyrim (if I'm not mistaken). Not like facing GTA and brand new consoles is any better. I'm betting Ubisoft has done some projections and this move makes the most sense financially to them.

WHAT? This got delayed for the Wii U? It was going to be me and my wife's valentine's day present for eachother (We enjoy playing games like this together, especially coop). I can't believe that it has been delayed for 6 months for PS3/360... this is awful :(

How can this be delayed when Wii U copies are probably already pressed/should start to ship soon? This is ridiculous.

Oh I know. I'm just pissed at the delay. I could give a shit that it's multiplatform, but c'mon son, less than a month from launch? It's shitty all around and they should've announced this delay long ago.

I lold at the Bayo 2 stuff because of a video of a guy in a black hoodie, sunglasses, and bandana telling Kamiya to fuck himself with an English accent :D

As many of you know the release of Rayman Legends on Wii U has been delayed until September. It's not all bad news though as you will now be able to collect those legendary Lums on PS3 and Xbox 360 as well.

We never want to delay a game and for that we're sorry. We made the tough decision to push back the release so we could offer it on multiple platforms. Stay tuned for more.
So yeah, nothing about bugs or such to be fixed for Wii U version =/, betting on a PR statement soon XD

Would definitely buy this game if released in a couple of weeks. Now, in September when a ton of games will be fighting for my wallet I probably won't hold the same certainty...

Still interested though.

But very weird move from Ubisoft.

Well if it was going to sell well eventually, means that delaying the Wiiu version doesn't really help any.

We don't know much about the funding of any games. It's totally possible MS paid for Ninja Gaiden 2, they clearly did something to get the publishing rights for a year.

Getting there.

Which is pretty funny. Nintendo fans talked about how immature people were acting over Bayonetta 2. Now though, some of those same people are currently acting the exact same way over Rayman.

I don't know what's a worse sign for the Wii U... Rayman going multiplatform or Nintendo fans going crazy over this news as if it's Mario (showing that there isn't much to be excited for on the Wii U right now).

the bayonetta 2 thing was different. people were upset that a dead game got revived and put onto a system they didn't want. they rather wanted the game dead than on a system they didn't want, something i still can't understand.

some people are upset about losing an exclusive, sure. a lot of people are upset over a 7 month delay.

i'm not happy because there was always this air of 'really? wii u exclusive? c'mon' about it, and it made more sense for ubisoft to put it on everything they could. instead of doing that from the get-go and having everything out at the same time and earlier, it's going to be a longer wait. i could have probably been playing this in march when there's nothing else out had ubisoft's management done the right thing from the get-go.

oh and rayman's fucking awesome. it was absolutely one of the reasons to be excited for the wii u.

Don't see the benefit of doing so unless they said something to me personally in a debate here.

The benefit would be backing up something you say, but considering how wide you are casting the net to include people upset about the delay, I'd say that's probably not high on your list of priorities.

What is Nintendo supposed to do about this situation? They have no control over Ubisoft an probably didn't even know about the delay.

The only thing I can see them doing is bankroll an immediate near-future release for the game if it's done. I don't see that being a likely scenario though, like, at all.

Don't be thick.

I'm pretty certain Iwata and co. already had a talk about this one with Ubisoft higher-ups. Nintendo won't be happy though with the delay. Maybe Ubi will smooth it over with a Wii U version of Watch_Dogs, Splinter Cell Blacklist or the next Assassin's Creed.

Dear Ubisoft,

I was looking forward to Rayman Legends - a game which seemed to be a perfect fit to Nintendo's new console, the Wii U. I loved the demo and wanted to buy the game on its release day end of February. That situation changed today.

The game is no longer exclusive to Wii U? Not really surprising. A finished game is postponed by 7 months? Why? The business scenario is not compelling enough? The Wii U sold in its first two months than PS360 did back then. How about postponing all your PS720 games until the fan base is 10M+?

Guess what people will do in September! They will play GTA V and other AAA titles and / or they will save their money for upcoming games and systems. Rayman Legends will bomb and from today onwards I'm looking forward to it. Rayman is a great game and I will buy it - but not on day 1 anymore. I will buy it one month later for half the price and 2nd hand.

Ubisoft, go and fuck yourself.

Yours sincerely,
a Wii U owner

Ubisoft needs to give a more convincing excuse for their delay. This can't convince anyone. What's going on behind this decision? Announcing multiplatform versions because Wii U's userbase and sales are valid excuses but delaying a pretty much complete version to match the release of the late versions is a very controversial decision and Ubisoft needs to explain this.

Man first Community seadon 4 and now this.
Looks like "Last minute longass delay" is something i just need to anticipate for things im super hyped for. Which is bogus as hell

Hopefully it comes to PC as well. Glad more people get a chance to play this game at the end of the day.
