Id be remiss if i did not recomend the best THor book marvel ever produced

THOR: the Mighty Avenger

Shame Marvel never let them get the final 4 issue out, this series was awesome
F*CK. YES.

Another GREAT all-ages recommendation, and thanks for reminding me; the Complete Collection comes out in March and I need to pre-order it.

Try out some of Langridge's other stuff as well. Muppets, Snarked etc... While I haven't read all of them they've all generally had positive reviews and I did enjoy the small amount of the Muppets that I read.

Atomic Robo as well maybe.

Adventure Time, Bravest Warriors and other stuff from the KaBOOM! imprint.

Also seconding Tiny Titans. Might also want to try out L'il Gotham as that's been shifted to an ongoing recently IIRC.

edit: Almost forgot... the Oz books at Marvel.

So...my 4 1/2 year old daughter is showing an interest in comics, thanks to the My Little Pony comic. I read X-Babies vs A-Babies to her tonight and she loved it. I'm not sure where to move to next though, as most comics are mature nowadays-but she defnetly seems to like superheroes.

Just read her classic stories from a time when they were more wholesome and less mature. You don't have to read her baby comics. There are plenty of ways available to get them. Try Marvel Masterworks.

Read em with some fatherly embellishments and get her hooked on the good stuff young instead of patronizing.

Disclaimer, I think children suck and have no idea what is best for them but I like to believe as a kid I would have appreciated the real deal and not chibi stuff.

GL needs fresh blood, Johns has been on too long. Crossover after crossover, I had high hopes when he started new 52 with Sinestro as a lantern but that didn't last.

Marvel and DC make these little comics that are printed on thicker paper for children. Most of them are Spidey or Batman books. You can find them at Target, Wal-Mart, and places like that.

noooooo~!!!! I went out today jus to chill with a friend...

during our adventures I came across 2 different comic shops in 2 different cities,

both of them are sold out of Green Arrow!!!

that's 3 for 3 so far!!

tomorrow I'm gonna hit up another local shop, a bigger one, hoping they got it!!

Strictly from the Big Two, Marvel and DC both have sites that let you read some of their kids' comics for free; if she goes for any of those, you can dig deeper for back-issues through ComiXology if they're available. As for specific recommendations... From DC, I'd suggest Tiny Titans and Superman Family Adventures, but if she finds those too "baby-ish" then check into the books based on their animated shows: Batman Adventures, Superman Adventures, Justice League Adventures/Unlimited, Teen Titans Go!, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Young Justice, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series. They're great for all-ages reading, and fun for adults if you're a fan of the cartoons as well. With Marvel, it's a no-brainer -- the whole point of the "Marvel Adventures" line is to create all-ages reading material for the young masses, so pick one and you're set. I'd look into the newer Power Pack books as well; they're well illustrated, and the child protagonists should be easy for her to identify with.

Marvel - http://marvelkids.marvel.com/comics
DC - http://dcnationcomics.kidswb.com/

EDIT: Oh! And the Mini Marvels series of comics by Chris Giarrusso. He also has his own kid superhero book called G-Man, that sometimes publishes at Image.

Thanks to everyone for the great recommendations-I think Power Pack and Thor-The Mighty Avenger will be next-Power Pack made a cameo in AvX Babies-and she clearly focused in on them and wanted to know more. Must have been the rainbow.

Sure if you like to be bored. I agree some of the fights had shitty outcomes but that was partly due to fan influence and in those days there was no internet so nobody could research the characters they just voted on who they knew or who seemed cooler. It's a far more entertaining series than JLA/Avengers where nothing fucking happens. There were so many cool scenes in DC vs Marvel like Ben Reiley hitting on Lois Lane, Amaglam merger, Robin and Jubilee, etc. JLA/Avengers lacked any of that stuff that made the 90s event so fun.

hmm apperantly there was a spinoff miniseries that I didn't read:

hmmm fine, let us both agree that teen titans / uncanny xmen was the best crossover then, cause marvel dc was wtf, and as you say JLA/Avengers was too...what wordy/uneventful.

but teen titans/xmen was solid stuffs.

I've got a question for you guys... What are your purchasing habits in regards to trades? Usually, what I'll do is read the stuff I like monthly, then buy the trades as well for the things I really liked, for the ol' bookshelf. The only problem is that it doesn't seem very cost-effective, and I'm wondering if there isn't a better way to go about it.

Digital Codes with print marvel books replaced my desire for trades on random stuff i liked but didn't love.

Used trades offer a decent value, and i'm not in a rush to buy the trade of things i've already read anyways.

You could always sell your print issues after you buy the trade.

Be patient and tradewait. Or, make friends that are less patient than you, read their floppies, and buy trades of things they don't read and things that you enjoyed when you borrowed them.

I'm trade waiting everything now, but I get tempted every time I go to the LCS. I only really keep up with Superior Spider-Man monthly because some people tweet their digital codes.

There are some things I definitely want to own in trade format, but the number of those, and the number of trades that I actually buy is vastly different. So I probably just need to be more discerning.

I don't buy trades of single issues I already have unless something happens to my issues. A couple times I've picked up a trade and have continue reading through single issues if there is no other trade out. I did that with Manhattan Projects. Currently I'm deciding what I want to do about Winter Soldier after I guy the second trade. The third isn't out until April I don't want to wait. Might just pick up the single issues so I can jump into the new creative team too.

So, how many books do you guys pull a month? I am at:

29 floppies a month
1 digital only (Injustice)
2 books I buy digital codes for (Savage W & UXF)

So I am at 32 books a month in all the various forms.

Wow is Uncanny X-Men going to be amazing or something?

Part of what made the book work so well under Remender was that it used very big situations to tell very personal stories about its characters, using the murky fucked up parts of continuity as building blocks but being clear enough that it never really mattered if you knew whatever the fuck happened with Angel or the entire history of the Captain Britain Corps. Humphries is pretty much skipping the "very big situations" step, going straight for the character bits, getting balls deep into continuity without explaining himself. I don't think anyone in their right mind could tell you what's Bishop's deal or what the fuck happened between Psylocke and Spiral.

I don't think you need to really go deep into explaining Psylocke and Spiral's history. Just say Spiral stole Psylocke's eyes a long time ago. And Bishop's return is VERY INTERESTING to me. I've been waiting since Messiah CompleX for Bishop to be in the spotlight again.

x-force seems to be in the team building arc that plagues team books.

Remenders was refesing becasue it started in media res. Apocalypse on the moon lets GOOO

It could be the most interesting in the world, but except for Storm I have no idea why all these guys are so fucking angry at one another. If it's gonna bring those things up, it needs to spend more than one panel explaining them, because this is fucking X-Men continuity, meaning we're at least three layers of bullshit further down than regular Marvel Universe continuity.

I think skipping the team building actually hurt Uncanny Avengers. They just threw these people together for no real reason and didn't really explain it. No sense of identity.

i thought i was Cap going yo X-men lets be bros and not flood nations anymore, ok?
And that is about the only "team building" there is.

Oh yeah and Thor has, all of a sudden, decided he can't stand the way mutants are treated. You know, not all those other times. This time is just THAT bad. Shit is a mess.

Censored swearing in comics annoys me literally every single time I see it, no matter how it's presented. Either don't write swears into your characters' dialog or do, but don't fucking censor it. I'll take it either way. As a noted vulgarian I'm totally fine with swearing and don't mind seeing it in my comics because it represents real dialog to me. The fact that they're writing swears into the dialog but then covering it up leads me to believe that they're trying to either protect kids and/or the easily offended, or the ideal that mainstream comics needs to be all ages and for everyone. Most cases it's trivial to suss out the intended swear regardless of the censorship, which then makes the censorship itself hollow.

I just don't understand why you'd put Cassaday on a book (UCA) when you know you're going to have to rush him. Its almost like a different person drew Planetary and Astonishing.

He's been terrible since 2010. His Superman covers matched the insides of jms' piece of shit run perfectly.

You guys are mean. Bad Cassaday is still better than the best from a lot of scrubs drawing comics currently.

yea It doesn't bother me so as much on Empowered I don't know why it did here. I'd rather just see @#!$ if they have to do it lol

himself. I don't think anyone in their right mind could tell you what's Bishop's deal or what the fuck happened between Psylocke and Spiral.

oh I knew the eyes thing and Bishop I guessed it was from the Messiah stuff but Bishop is whatever to me

damn psylocke was ultra angry even before Spiral though
