How is that not so spoilerish?

edit: meh whatever

Sam was in the Boss battle trailer.

I also have to imagine that anyone who knows who Sam is in the first place knows that you're not going to fight him in the beginning, lose and never fight him again.

Can anyone tell me if picture in the final boss theme in that youtube link is the actual final boss? I didn't click the first link Deimos has up.

-----No-------------

The one with the Metal Gear is something that we've know for the longest time now.

Ah, that was all? My apologies -- I didn't really look at the other two, I skipped right over them once I saw the first one. I just assumed that that was why people were upset.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
There better not be any vocals in game. Couldn't stand that nonsense in DMC3 and DMC4.

There are, as several gameplay trailers and the demo indicated.

Hey, so you guys remember Vanquish pre-launch, right? Game Informer! 4 hours to beat! Sure you do.

This is flaoting around. It seems like that's the entire game. Granted, the 59 deaths thing is, uh...weird as fuck, but otherwise, it seems to check out. The achievements for Rising have 8 "acts" or "chapters" or whatever you want to call them and this is showing 8 grades with an overall grade at the end.

The extra hour and a half is probably the cutscenes.

Has PG ever counted cutscenes in their total playtime? Isn't that why the playtime at the end screen for Vanquish is so short?

I was just making a joke at the expense of Metal Gear's prolifically long ass cutscenes.

I think Vanquish in general also undershot on what your actual time was on the result screens. The five hours shown here might not be the *actual* amount that this person spent with the game.

That wasn't spanish? Considering they didn't even finish the game before making that statement says everything.
I believe it was one of the JPN press that said it. Unless my memory is acting up again. This person based it off of how long it took them to finish the early chapters, and they seemed to have extrapolated the length.

I've been assuming it to be a short game for a long time, seeing how truncated the development cycle was, but I guess we'll see how they choose to handle replayability. Mission select and NG+ are already confirmed, but that's pretty much a given for this type of game from this developer.

Sorta breaks the Metal Gear mold with a short campaign, though. A ton of people are going to be mad about a 6-hour campaign on a 60 dollar game.

It was a Spanish preview, which also confirmed New Game+ and
missions where you fight alongside bladewolf

Well. It doesn't reaalllly break from Metal Gear tradition. I mean, if you skip all cutscenes, can't MGS 2, 3, and 4 all be completed in under 4 hours?

This one may show though, due to it having much shorter cutscenes (of which I'm sure there will be less than 2 hours worth).

Not sure about cutscenes, I think it doesn't clock your retries or something, but it clocks other stuff like pausing, I really don't remember though so I could be wrong, or it could be the other way around, lol, I just remember timer in Vanquish isn't too reliable since I clocked a shitload of hours into the last boss when I checked. It's still a very short game anyway.

PG games will always be short since they don't pad them with too much climbing/running around stuff like in uncharted games, which are kind of similar in length if you're to take out all the non combat stuff. Though PG games seems to like adding those walking mandatory codec stuff nowadays :(

When I played the demo in Manchester last year, the counter for the stages never took into account the cutscenes, so some stages lasted like 4 minutes, even though you've actually been on them for 10 because of codec calls and video cutscenes.

People balked at Vanquish playthrough time and I missed out on it for a long time because of it.

FUCK how long it takes to beat a game, length isn't shit on a quality experience.

Nope

At least Vanquish doesn't for sure. Not sure about Bayonetta.(I skipped cutscenes when I did my bracelet of time run, which is the only time I ever paid attention to the clock)

In Vanquish it just adds up your time from each ranked combat section.

IIRC it doesn't even keep track of how much time you spent retrying. Don't quote me on that much tho

5-6 hours with minimal/zero padding seems perfect to me. There's VR missions too and likely new game+(considering the unlocks).

I'm all for short games (5-6 hours) if they sufficiently explore their concepts without padding. Might be a while before we get another long-ass action game with minimal repetition like RE4. This seems ok in the meantime.

I'm inclined to agree, especially considering how many times I've gone back through the demo alone.

If this doesn't count cutscenes or retries (it likely doesn't considering how their past game clocks work) then that's a perfectly reasonable playthrough time. Plenty of character-action games are that long if their clocks worked that way.

Let's not forget that if this game is anything like Platinum's other action games, it'll be very replayable, and has those VR missions to add up some more playtime. I'm not sure what kind of playtime people were expecting from it, but this is pretty par for the course for this type of game.

Well, as far as i know it from Bayonetta (which is a really lengthy game but also can be beat in under 3h hence the achievement for it):
a. cutscenes don't count
b. only the time counts when you did finish a level (so the ones when you tried and died didn't count)

so i would say ~10 hours is where it is. ok-length imo. more important is the replayability and unlockables. hopefully in this department it is more like Bayonetta and less like Vanquish.

Since it's up there, I'm guessing beheadings can give you BP as well?
