Tiger Woods 14 not likely for Wii U

Does NoA even talk with third-parties?

Can one courageous journalist go to NoA and ask what the fuck is going on with third-parties and Wii U?

Unfortunately, I am sure that journalists have contact Nintendo about these matters, and they have given the usual "no comment" response. It's not likely that you will hear anyone from the lower levels of the company make any sort of statement. It'd have to be straight from Iwata or Reggie, and there's no easy way to get a statement out of them.

Is this still because of the Origin thing?

games are budgeted and prepped years in advance. it's not surprising Wii U is missing out on some games this year

That's not really an excuse at all; Tiger Woods is one of those franchises that're basically prepped for launching on a new platform the moment it's ready to do so, they have it down to a fine art by now. It certainly shouldn't take this long to get a new entry of a yearly franchise onto a console with graphical parity to the two leading SKUs.

This guy will fix the third party dilemma.

A conversation with Reggie would go like this:

J: Why doesn't the Wii U have major third party games, and why isn't it going to receive any in the future?
R: Nintendo rocks, everything about us is awesome, anyone who disagrees is a meanie loser.
J: Wat?

They need to work on that magic golfball + green on the GamePad screen.
You know, check that box.
Shit takes time.
C'mon EA don't treat Nintendo like you did Sega.

Man, EA are really putting their worst foot forward on Nintendo's new platform. Probably driving fans away it. EA put a hole in one of my main reasons for buying a WiiU. I bet Nintendo are tee'd off about this.

...

Also, this sucks. TW on Wii was pretty damn good. Something pretty divisive has come to pass between the two companies.

EA are really chucking their toys out over Origin, eh.

It's weird seeing huge companies act like children.

Exactly. There's really no way to force huge companies like this to be transparent. The closest we will get to frankness out of them will come from the Nintendo Directs.

Ha, oh wow, EA really must be pissed about something, TW did great on the Wii, there's no reason why they shouldn't at least try on the Wii U. All very strange, and not good for Nintendo.

R: Shut up! And you can tell Iwata Fire Emblem sold! And it was all my idea! My idea!
J: Are you crying Reggie?

Looking at the Wii U hardware and marketing strategy, neither is Nintendo. :/

Well, it's not that you plan to bring a game on a platform few months before the release. If Tiger Woods is not coming on Wii U, it's because there's something more than poor sales / poor Nintendo support.

Considering it's not coming to any other platform but PS3/360 it's not too shameful, but it's EA's loss, if that whole Orgin thing is true than EA needs to get over it.

Funny, given how much money Tiger Woods brought to EA with the Wii versions. I mean, they're not even trying.

yeah it's clearly not a matter of profitability, something went down between ea and nintendo.

That was only true for one or two years:

Analyst: Tiger Woods' 'Catastrophic' Wii Decline May Point To Scandal Damage
July 19, 2010 | By Leigh Alexander

In an environment of general software declines, Electronic Arts faces particular challenges with its Tiger Woods PGA Tour franchise. First-month sales across all formats have plummeted 68 percent compared to the launch of last year's installment, and one analyst thinks the athlete's extracurricular activities might be causing harm to the games.

The golf game, which lends itself well to Wii's motion controls, has been one of the most successful third-party franchises yet on Nintendo's console. But since its June 8 launch, the multiplatform Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 saw an 86 percent decline on Wii that Cowen Group analyst Doug Creutz called "particularly catastrophic."

Hrm, wasn't the Tiger series at least relatively successful on the Wii?

Relatively successful? I'm pretty sure Wii version was the best selling version for years.

Another more reason to bring it on Wii U, then.
And given how cheap Tiger Woods should have been, even with a decline I can see total profits from it.

In the worst case, this would be reminiscent of Dreamcast... with one notable exception: SEGA had licensed sports titles in the pipeline in NFL 2K, NBA 2K, NHL 2K, and World Series Baseball. Nintendo seemingly has no plans for licensed sports titles, so a dearth of these sports games *could* be damaging to Wii U's future prospects.

However, aside from the news that Tiger Woods isn't coming for Wii U, we don't have any word on Madden, FIFA, or NHL yet. Perhaps news will come during E3 for these franchises. In addition, TTWO is supporting WiiU with NBA 2K, which does address a sports gaming consumer need.

I think it's a situation worth watching, and I honestly think it could go either way. EA could decide that Wii U development just isn't worth the investment and decide to go all-in with Orbis and Durango. Or, EA could be picking and choosing its Wii U projects based on the lowest possible risk.

We'll see where this goes.

TW 14 is 100% not coming to WiiU. FACT!
(sorry if harsh, but its true)

but TW 15... Well lets just say that is a different story ;)

Is this maybe more just evidence of EA pulling back spending on Woods than WiiU then?

Well, if it was just Tiger Woods, I wouldn't really bat an eye, since both it and NHL have only been 360/PS3 for a while.

It's Madden 25 that really sticks out, since they're actually notably raising investment in Madden.

Seems to me EA wants to forcibly push new console buyers to the next xbox or playstation. Wii U might be getting the Dreamcast treatment. Now I really want to know what went wrong behind the scenes with Nintendo and EA.
