Do we know if this is the same controller or not?

Aha so that extra bulk at the top is indeed a ledge/finger rest like on the WiiU pad. Hope that makes it to the final...that thing is comfy as hell

I just want to apologise to everyone for making that "Used Game" gif. I didn't expect it to get posted everywhere so much.

Anyway, I was hoping for it to have finger grooves. Like the EA Sports Grips I have on my DS3. They feel great.

Just went to verge and they are claiming:

Looks like we have another confirmation that this is 100% real photo.

Nice, I tweeted directly at Dale North (Destructoid) about the new pic, he posted it and is now following my preachings on Twitter. More fool him :p

Looks like they slope downward again? :-/

I think several people have said that the triggers are fixed. At this rate I expect a new image before the reveal anyway.

So MIC in the controller bests MS at their own game and makes voice in games by DEFAULT for all PS4 owners. It's about GD TIME!

didnt they patent a design where you can split the controller to be like the Move conroller? is that implemented here?

Lets see how much controller noise that mic picks up. I don't want to hear a bunch of buttons being mashed and analog sticks squeaking.

Is that a headphone jack coming out of the bottom of the controller? That is one of the best features of the Wii U. Even without off screen play, it's so nice to have the easy option for enjoying console games with headphones.

I like it. I like the new curves. Not a severe departure from the DS - but losing the angular design for (what appears to be) a more comfortable, slightly beefier grip is a bonus.

Of course this is just how I perceive these changes. I will have to wait until one is in my hands to pass final judgement. Right now I am liking it. That could change when I hold one tho.

I thought that too but...shouldn't we at least see a part of the triggers then? Something like this:

I wonder if the R2/L2 triggers are not on the same plane as the R1/L1 buttons. Maybe recessed a little which would for me at least feel more comfortable.

Yeah, that would make sense if the triggers were more like the 360's.

Wii U Pro Controller again:

I really hope we can buy a controller without the move light on the top. I hate LED's in a dark room. It's very distracting for me, especially for something I'm holding.

Wow that controller is so high-tech. It's like something out of a Gibson novel. :D Can't wait for PS4 reveal in 5 days! (the dev kit is HUGE!)

Just an observation on the Rectangle shape of the Move bar on the DS4.
The rectangle shape will allow the camera(s) to observe rotation on the X and Y-axis a lot easier. Most useful for driving or racing games.
I just hope I can hook up my G27 racing wheel to the PS4.

Is the TV distracting, too? I mean... that's fairly bright for a dark room ;)

OK I kid, I kid.

I can't even see my phone light up in my lap when I'm playing - and that's a 4" screen facing up - not just a small light facing away from you (I hope you don't play with the controller backwards).

I can't see it being an issue, personally. If you play in the dark (I do) the light from your TV will be bright enough to drown out anything in your periphery.

To me the new picture is of the same controller type as the older one. Just different angles. But the cleaner picture makes it look soooooo much better!

I've never liked the PlayStation controller but this does look like an improvement. The grips have always been uncomfortable to me and the lack of triggers hurts FPS titles.

So I'm going to assume that the dual cameras will be included in the PS4 now, because Move functionality seems to built into the controller.

We're not still assuming this to be around the $399 area anymore are we? If so, I think that's a disappointment.

I don't think 'colors' can be dated. The appliances that it is on create the dated look. If you threw that on a Ferrari or other exotic car you wouldn't think 'dated'.

Exactly, it's just a matter of design. What really looks dated on the ds3 buttons are the buttons themselves. I bet that some glass looking buttons (as in Vita's) with the classic coloured shapes would look fantastic, or at least not as dated as the actual ones.

Anyway, I sincerely hope the final pad will have that bossy "screen-pad" as the one in the mock-up the fellow gaffer made.

i think the ds3 buttons look great, but more importantly FEEL great
the vita buttons are serviceable...but they're really not that great

My guess ( and hope) is that the led is only on when playing a game that uses it. I believe that is how the current move controller works. And if game use it for optional control input, hopefully it will turn off if you disable it.

I'm sure it'll be off if you're not playing with the motion controls "on"

Both good points. I'm sure it won't be a problem. I'm just happy they fixed the controller with the triggers, etc.

Very hyped for the 20th and the PS4 itself.
