Think of it this way, would you run up an steal a chest while someone was fighting a mob that was guarding it?:p
Well to be fair, everyone can open a chest. Not everyone can pick up an herb. A chest can have rare drops -- an herb will just respawn in 10 minutes. If I have to ask everyone within a 50 yard radius if it's "okay" to for me to grab a respawning resource, that slows things down pretty significantly.

Honestly, if I see someone fighting near an herb or something I just take it. I've never been bitched at over it, though most of the time I'm taking it from the alliance.

Mwahaha, I knew there was a reason I still went to MC even though all I need is the Choker of the Firelord. Won both the Spellpower enchant and Core Felcloth Bag pattern.

Haha, that choker and the bag pattern's the only thing I need in that big firey colon of boredom too.

I finally got a 2nd shift guyon the weekends so I ain't gotta come in "off-schedule", so I can make those raids now. Hot stuff since that's 90% of what I do now. :D

This is pretty amusing.

Blizzard and sponsor hold screenshot contest.

Said screenshot contest is named The Gurubashi Challenge, screenshots must take place at Gurubashi Arena within STV. Contest calls for PvP between players for it's theme.

Not only do the winning screenshots completely and utterly blow every form of ass possible, few take place in Gurubashi. In fact, the $1,000 grand prize winner's shot comes from Stormwind Keep and features a Priest raising some randomly dead Night Elf (50 bucks on death by Onyxia's Guard), no PvP pictured.

Yeah I thought that contest winner pic was way off the mark. When I first saw it I said to myself "I thought this was all about Gurubashi..?"

Wouldn't surprise me if the silly Priest had never set a foot inside Gurubashi.

I thought that was messed up too. I'm sure someone must have sent some pics of actual Gurubashi arena action. Maybe they just didn't advertise it well enough or something. I was in STV a lot during that time and there weren't any more people than usual around the arena.

WTF is going on in that pic with the dragons BTW?

I think it was just to even out the shammy/pally races - on the Horde side Trolls, Tauren and Orcs can be shaman, and on the Alliance side Humans, Dwarves and now Dranei can be paladins. Three each.

I'm going to try to nab an HDTV over the next week or so, might be an odd question, but I've never used one before; does WoW run/play well on one, would use 1280x720, yeah?

Well, one of my guildmates plays WoW on an HDTV and we can't get him to shut the **** up about it.

And WoW does support wide-screen resolutions.

Looking forward to the expansion though!

I haven't quit, but I've slowed down on leveling up my hunter alt. Still... I haven't raided in over a month and even though WoW isn't really engaging for me, it's at least somewhat entertaining again.

Ya know, I wish I had the option of choosing to continue playing or not. But thanks to Blizzard customer service my Full Tier 2 and 2.5 Rogue with Thunderfury and Iblis is gone. Thanks Blizz. Not getting my money for me to play my alt that's for damn sure.

Unless Blizzard installed a keylogger and hacked your account, I dunno why you're whining about them. At least blame the hacker, if not yourself for getting hacked.

I do blame him. But I am angry that Blizzard will not take any action to correct this or compensate me. I have defended Blizzard for a long time about how hard they work to keep the World of WarCraft running smoothly, but this situation that I've run into has me on shaky terms with them at the moment.

I'm sorry you got screwed over here, but honestly, it just doesn't sound right. You've got to be able to call them again and fix this.

Yeah, I don't know all "the rules", but from what people have said here there's gotta be some way to prove that the account is yours. You're probably just getting the standard line from Customer Support techs, and should speak to someone higher-up.

Theres some people saying that the downloader is up, so heck, may already be. I'm trying to check but the account management is unavalible.

Something I've been meaning to ask:

Despite the removal of the honor system, screenshots and videos still show the Rank of a player character killed in PVP combat. So how do ranks work now?

- World of Warcraft Test Patch 2.0.1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The latest patch notes can always be found at
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/underdev/

General
- All players will have talent points reimbursed and will have access
to new talents throughout their trees; this includes the 41-point
talents. Several new abilities have also been added for all classes.
- All pets now receive a percentage of their master's armor, spell
damage, spell resistances, attack power, and stamina.
- Low-level spells cast by high-level players will receive smaller
bonuses from +healing and +spell damage.
- HoTs, DoTs, and channeled spells have been re balanced to receive a
more appropriate (higher) percentage of +spell damage and +healing.
- HoTs from different sources will now stack (i.e. multiple druids can
cast the Rejuvenation spell on 1 target).
- New item property "Resilience" has been introduced. Resilience
reduces your chance to be the victim of a critical strike, and
reduces the amount of damage critical strikes do to you.
- Weapon Skill now does the following:
- Weapon skill will no longer reduce the percentage damage lost due to
glancing.
- The player will gain 0.1% to their critical strike rating per weapon
skill against monsters above their level.
- When casting a buff on a low level target, the appropriate rank of
the buff will be automatically be applied.
- Crowd Control effects in PvP will last no longer than 12 seconds
instead of the full duration, with a chance of a heartbeat resist.
- Players will no longer lose faction when under the influence of
"Mind Control" or the Gnomish Mind Control Cap.

PvP
- Honor System Revamp
Current honor totals have been reset.
Players may display their highest lifetime rank title (accessible
from character sheet).
Honor points earned each day may now be spent as a form of currency.
Check the PvP tab of your character sheet to see your honor
information.
PvP rewards are no longer unique.
- Marks of Honor earned from battlegrounds are no longer turned in for
reputation or honor. They are now used in addition to honor points
in order to purchase rewards.
- Two New Arenas are now available in three different modes.
2v2, 3v3, and 5v5 matches
Players may queue up at Goblin NPC's in Stormwind, Ironforge,
Orgrimmar, Undercity, and Gadgetzan

Druids
- The talent "Swiftmend" will now include bonus healing from the
talents "Improved Rejuvenation" and "Empowered Rejuvenation".

Hunters
- Traps can be set while in combat, but require a 2 second arming time.
- Auto shot will be automatically enabled if the Hunter steps out of
melee range while in combat with target.
- 1 agility will now grant 1 ranged attack power.
- Auto shot is now reset when casting Aimed Shot.

Shaman
- Shaman with the appropriate talent spec are now able to dual-wield.
Both main and off-hand weapons can be affected by self-weapon buffs
such as Windfury.
- Rockbiter's weapon functionality has been changed. It is now a
damage proc instead of a flat attack power bonus.
- Windfury Weapon and Rockbiter Weapon enchantments will only benefit
the weapon with the enchantment on it.

Warlocks
- Range of "Drain Life" and "Drain Mana" spells have been increased.

Warriors
- Rage generation from dealing damage has been normalized.
- All Rage awards are averaged with our expected rage per swing
(adjusted for weapon speed).

Items
- The "Far Sight" effect has changed so that the camera now zooms in
to a distant location, rather than instantly showing the distant
view. This also affects the items: Ultra-Spectropic Vision Goggles,
the Ornate Spyglass, and the Hunter ability "Eagle Eye."
- Spells can now require either a totem item or a totem category item
to cast a spell. This means that the Enchanting Rods now count as
all of the lower level enchanting rods as well, so you only need a
single enchanting rod instead of all six. This also means that
"Finkel's Skinner" now counts as a Skinning Knife. Several weapons
that are picks have been flagged as counting as a Mining pick as
well.
- Items that give bonuses, such as + to crit, have been modified to
adhere to a combat rating system.
- All current items will provide the exact same benefit from ratings
at level 60 as they provided before the ratings system.
- Thrown weapon items no longer stack, but use durability instead. One
unit of durability is lost per throw, and these items can be repaired.
- The tool tip for the Great Staff of the Guardian now shows the
proper increase of 28 to the party spell critical rating.
- Items that are useable from player inventory with a cooldown will
now update the cooldown in real-time.
- Players will no longer be able to sell the "Blue Skeletal Horse" to
vendors.
- The damage Proc from the item "Misplaced Servo Arm" will no longer
break the Rogue ability "Gouge".
- The "Skull of Impending Doom" has been changed and will now increase
run speed by 60% for 10 seconds, but deals damage equal to 60% of
your maximum health and drains 60% of your maximum mana for over 10
seconds.
- The Backfire effect on the "Net-O-Matic" will no longer break on
damage.

Professions
- All of the profession-made items that have been created up to now
have been given proper stats based on the current expansion item
level progression table.
- Most of the items made by Tailoring/Leatherworking/Blacksmithing
have had their creation time reduced. Now the cap on time required
to make an item in those professions is based on quality and level.
- New Max times required.
Level 31+ Green Items at least 8 sec
Level 31+ Blue Items at least 15 sec
Level 31+ Purple Items at least 25 sec
Skill level now determines what items you can disenchant.
Skill 1= Level 1-20
Skill 25= Level 20-25
Skill 50= Level 25-30
Skill 75= Level 30-35
Skill 100= Level 35-40
Skill 125= Level 40-45
Skill 150= Level 45-50
Skill 175= Level 50-55
Skill 200= Level 55-60
Skill 225= Level 60-65
- Players will no longer lose an item when attempting to disenchant
on a boat when the loading screen appears.

User Interface

preparation for the new LFG system.
- LFG/LFM UI

stone.
A second party member then clicks the portal to summon.
- Enchanting UI has been vastly improved.

spell stats.
- Players can now cast item targetable spells on items that are in
your action bar. For instance you can cast feed pet and have the
food you want the pet to be fed in one of your action bars.
- Semi-charged items can no longer be placed in the Auction House.
- A knowledge base has been added to the in-game UI.
- Searchable database of FAQ's and common support issues.

I'm inexperienced as a caster, but I thought DoTs already got the full damage bonus from gear. What's the change? Not that it matter much, but does this also apply to bleed effects from melee classes?

Alex

Theyre scaling past 100% now, if they meet the proper critera. Made to combat the weapon scaling melee will recieve in BC, I guess.

For example, Siphon Life went from 50% to 100%. Curse of Agony went from 100% to 160%.

Channels went up too, Drain Life, Mindflay, etc. I had a big chart posted earlier in the topic I beleive, few pages ago.

Not sure about physical dots.

firex

nice... I just wish my internet would work again with the shitty Blizztorrents.

e: the basic formula for increased DOT damage is, if it lasts for over 15 seconds it gets more bonus spell damage. Anything less than that doesn't get less damage... and I don't think it changes the rogue bleed DOTs or Rend.

I don't know the exact formula, but the bonus is basically equal to how many seconds a DOT lasts over 15. that's why Siphon Life gets double the bonus (I should point out it's cut in half to begin with because it also heals, same for Drain Life) and CoA gets 60% more. 24 seconds is 60% longer than 15 so it's a 60% bonus. Where it really adds up is Curse of Doom, which gets 400% damage. But don't worry, it can't be used in pvp and only really works on pve mobs (not even critters, or enemy guards). It's a really smart way to make DOTs scale with damage, because as it is right now, you get a lot better damage per mana just spamming shadowbolt when you have a lot of damage gear.

border

Member
I'm not sure that I follow. Excuse my ignorance, I'm not a number cruncher or a caster. So to put it in simple terms, if all my damage gear adds up to +100 Spell Damage, I will now get +100-160 on certain DoTs? What's the "criteria" that must be met?

Alex

I'm getting a nice DL, all things considered. 120k/down.

But ugh... no upload limiter on this damn thing, 130k up, which is all of my upload, haha.

It took me like 45 seconds just to open and load this thread. :lol

I don't know what it is... it may be my new router, or maybe it's just something my ISP changed during the time I took off from the internet about a year ago, but Blizzard's torrents went from downloading easy and fast to almost never downloading, ever. I'm still forwarding the same ports. And it always says I have an "incompatible network driver," yet I've got the right driver for my NIC so I think it's just tarding out somehow.

Alex said:

Most of the melee dots have static damage, but Deep Wounds is "60% of weapon damage" and I'm not sure if that'll be taken into account with +Weapon Damage bonuses under the new system. Doesn't really matter, I'm just curious.

ah, as far as deep wounds goes, I think it scales with anything that improves weapon damage. I know garrote and rupture scale with attack power, but I don't think this patch changes how much they scale.

Crowd Control, i.e. sap, fear, charm, polymorph, sleep, etc.

I think it's more of a nerf on rogues and mages personally. No more getting polymorphed/sapped for 20 seconds. Maybe that's just me cause fear seems to always break in 10 seconds or less for me.

"I think it's more of a nerf on rogues and mages personally. No more getting polymorphed/sapped for 20 seconds."

Yeah, but I'd say that CC's more important to a warlock with no mana shield, vanish, stealth, blink, frost nova, etc. than to those for pvp survival.

"Maybe that's just me cause fear seems to always break in 10 seconds or less for me."

And damn that's so true. Yet when I play my non-undead, non-warlock characters, fear seems to last the full duration and then some. *boggle*

border

Member
"Crowd Control, i.e. sap, fear, charm, polymorph, sleep, etc."

Aahhhh, ok. I thought it was an abbreviation for a specific spell.

As a warrior with a warlock alt, I am both overjoyed and furious to hear this. :D I'm just glad that it only applies to PVP combat -- it'd suck if sheep/sap broke after 12 seconds in a dungeon.

It seems like most people break their PVP CC within 12 seconds anyhow. Except for Sap, which goes on for the full duration while the flag is capped or a teammate is fought -- seems more like a Rogue nerf to me. With a warlock, the CC gets broken by a DoT or Shadowbolt.

border

Member
Will the changes to CC affect items with a stun effect or a stun proc?

Even at 60, I still wear Horned Viking Helmet for a nice advantage in PVP.....already it seems like it's been nerfed pretty hard (the stun doesn't last nearly as long as it did when I was playing 6 months ago). Will it be a maximum 12 sec stun now?

Alex

Member
Being Alliance, fear tends to have a duration of 1-2 seconds due to totems, wotf, etc. So the nerf doesnt effect me much. :p

Exaggerations aside, that only cuts 3 off of typical Fear/Seduce, and since the new Howl is 1.5 by 8 second dura rather than 2.0 by 15 second dura, its not a big deal.

You lucky son of a bitch. I usually get feared out of the tremor totem range before it procs.
