I don't think the European version will be translated at all. It's just the US version with a different sticker on the box (well, and some added logos and a different region code).

I wonder how the sales of this game were in the US. It did well in Japan.

Yep. Supposedly they skipped the other languages to speed up the release =p

Or it's more like Nintendo is pushing EO4 because they published the originals on the DS in Europe, thus more than likely it's cause they are publishing it.

Pretty sure that Nich said in one of the EO4 threads that it wasn't Nintendo. I'll see if I can find it.

Edit:

I'm genuinely surprised this is coming. I didn't think Nintendo wouldn't even bother with this series anymore considering how awful the first one sold in Europe. Could be a different publisher, though.
Yeah, it's not Nintendo.

Very curious that he seems rather evasive - or, given it's Nich,

ish - on the subject, which does make me wonder if there's something a little more solid on the way in terms of long-term publishing plans or partners.

Just like every SMT game (minus SMT 3) and even Continuum Shift Extend.

I'll be buying it used, even if it cost me exactly the same as buying it new. I love Atlus' games, but they really need to sort their shit out in Europe. I hope Arena bombs horribly here, and teaches them that they can't get away with this kind of crap. The wait for Persona 4 Golden has been ridiculous as well; I just imported it from the US.

Catherine did pretty well here, and part of the reason for that was a timely release.

I'm really hoping Nintendo Of Europe and Atlus become good buddies, then Nintendo can help bring over future releases faster. e.g hopefully they help with SMT IV and SMT X Fire Emblem.

Why would anyone bump this thread without new information?

Why?

Why?

WHY?!

We really should keep this thread bumped, if only to alert others to how poorly this entire situation has been handled by all companies involved. I really wish there was news, but at this point I think most of the people that once cared about this game have sworn off purchasing it (at least new) just because of how badly it's been handled.

You'd think that when companies who produce games such as the Persona series which have a small, hardcore fanbase they'd do anything they can to keep a hold of those people but...

I wouldn't consider half a year (well just over) timely.

I feel bad for Zen, all they can do is wait for Atlus/Arc to give the discs to them so they can submit them to MS/Sony for cert. I'm betting they regret handling Arena at all.

Catherine came out in Europe about half a year after the NA release...If P4A comes out in the next month it would be roughly the same amount of time.. of course it won't though so..

Catherine came out 7 months after the US release. P4 Golden is only 3 months behind.

Edit: beaten...

SMT X Fire Emblem was in their Wii U future release schedules so I won't worry about that, as for SMT IV hopefully NoE will publish it as well. Cause as much praise I can give to GhostLight the time taken for them to acquire a title and publish takes ages ala Devil Survivor =/

I wonder if Atlus/Index will pull this again with future games.

Seems like a great way to lose fans and sales.

But if a few Japanese importers don't get a discount on the title then I guess it's ok to deny the game to thousands of people.

Yeah the wait times in the past have been awful. But things are looking more hopefully at the moment. We will see. :)

Are you including the Devil Survivor games by saying "at the moment" lol ?
Soon we'll reach a point where it will be no longer possible to release a DS game here, i'm even wondering if they're not waiting for Devil Survivor 2 Overclocked to be announced for the purpose of publishing 2 3DS games instead of the first episode on 3DS and its sequel on DS, since it does seem pretty strange when you don't know about the situation.

I know about that, it's taking forever. :)

When I said things are looking more hopeful, I meant more hope for a better future, more specifically SMT X Fire Emblem shown on European Nintendo Direct which is a very good sign and because of that I'm hoping for the possibility of more similar future releases.

Possible news on the date, Webhallen which is the top Swedish video game retailer lists the game for April 12th. Zen haven't gone out with a date yet though so take it with a grain of salt, but from my experience they've never "guessed" exact dates in this matter, only a specific quarter/month.

Damn it, Persona 4 is my favorite game ever, out of thousands of PS3 games the one that had to have a region lock and a huge delay to boot had to be this one.

Atlus, I truly can't put into words how disappointed I am.

This doesn't surprise me.

At this point, Zen and ATLUS could turn out to be Moon men on a mission to steal all of the earth's woman for Mars and it wouldn't surprise me.

What amazes me is that no journo has called them on their bullshit when they said "There are currently a number of issues surrounding development and subsequent release of Persona 4 Arena in Europe".

Considering they're not translating it, these fucking amateurs could at least be transparent on what is so complicated that it would take so many months.

Really. With NIS running circles around them in these sort of stakes it's utterly embarrassing and insulting to a certain extent given their Devil May Care attitude to non American fans.

Hell, they're fucking up with American fans as well. I can't play Eternal Punishment on my portables at the moment. >:|

Atlus is trying REALLY hard to be on everyone's shit list like Capcom is, it seems.

I don't think that's an Atlus problem. SCEA screwed that one up (unless you're in Europe obviously)

Seriously dude? You're comparing our waiting time to your inability to play EP on your portables (Play it on your PS3)...SMH...

And if anything is to blame is the fecking region locking imposed by the Japan HQ, I mean it was their instructions tbh.

We have a persona 4 tournament this weekend in a big french tournament. And the game is still not released in Europe.
They were promoting it plenty on their Facebook and twitter pages till the hatred overflowed...and now they post primarily crap...

I guess I'm going have to take back what I said, the Xbox 360 version still hasn't even been received for cert yet, even though they have had the PS3 version for almost a month now. They literally came out with this "news" a few hours ago.

Atlus, what the fuck?

We've known this for a while. This update is just them saying, "We have nothing new to say."

Also, this is ASW's fault. They're the ones developing the PAL version of the game and taking their sweet time doing it. This is coming in May, at the earliest.

will buy for a tenner.

i hope this game bombs hard as fuck.

iam so sorry for zen, but this is the fault of atlus. they just went nuts with strapping a region lock on this game. what the dick is wrong?

Simply fucking unacceptable. This deserves to bomb unless they release it for less than £20. I'm sorry for Zen since it seems like they're innocently caught up in the crossfire of incompetence from Atlus and ArcSys, but that doesn't make the situation any better. If I do end up buying this, it'll either be second hand for £10 or heavily reduced from RRP.

If Zen are innocent in this, they would NOT be posting pictures of Woody molesting Ageis.

Speaking of which, I find it real fucking weird that the people behind the EU release of Persona 4 Arena have positioned themselves as "Persona Europe".

Take their Twitter account for example, which has the tagline: The official Twitter feed for Persona games in Europe.
Persona 4 Golden was released in Europe on the 22nd of February with it releasing on PSN on the 20th. I went back on their Twitter account to the 1st of January and haven't seen a single post about Persona 4 Golden, not even an announcement on the day they came out in Europe which kinda seems like something you should mention on The official Twitter feed for Persona games in Europe. Instead, the entire Twitter account recently (when not replying to people) is just plugging posts from a website they run about Japanese games. Posts which don't have anything to do with Persona yet are still being posted on The official Twitter feed for Persona games in Europe instead of separate Twitter account which they totally have anyway, in fact, open the Twitter account for their website and the Persona Europe Twitter account in different tabs and switch back and forth between them and you'll notice a few similarities.

It seems real scummy to me that they have proclaimed themselves as Persona Europe when (through fault of their own or not) they have completely bungled the release of the game they were handling, seemingly not covered the Persona game that did come out (even though it directly leads into their game and is arguably the best game on Vita at the moment), and use their Persona Twitter account to just plug their own non-Persona website.
