Man I would really love to get this game, but it really puts me off that you can only build very small cities within those borders. It just doesn't look right. And no terraforming? WAT?

the RCI demands are region wide, so make another city to off-load the demand.

When starting a 2nd city, do you not get new funds? I got booted from the servers right afterwards, so I couldn't tell if it was just EA's servers messing things up.

Errm... how can one fill the spaces between roads with trees? I've read a post from a Beta-Tester on reddit about it.
And in this screen, there are many trees between the small houses behind the windpark.
I remember seeing a video where someone filled the inside areas with trees, but I don't recall what tool he used.
I looked everywhere and clicked everything. Maybe they removed it?

At the very end of the Nature area of the Park tab there are forest add/remove tools. You have to go to the second page/section.
Are you talking about the Plant Forest in Park->Nature?
I expected that tool being placed more prominently... thanks a lot!
edit: do trees prevent buildings from upgrading if they are blocking the needed space?

Seriously, this might be the most naive and sheepish thing I've ever read on Gaf.
Is he talking about the Origin network infrastructure?
I have a feeling this will only get worse every day until next week and the game is already just about completely unplayable. Today it's EU release day, Friday rest of the countries (including a huge market like UK) and then it's weekend, the prime time for playing a game like this.

Maybe EA/Maxis should take a queue from NCSoft and other MMORPG companies and stop selling digital copies from Origin till this blows over. It won't completely elevate the demand though it does help and shows they are proactive in protecting the current player experience. Then again, I am naive in believing EA of all companies would turn away cash.

This is just an awful post in so many ways. First of all, you're belittling people for loving games on NeoGAF. Then you're saying people should stop complaining because someone already complain, but the top of this monumental stupid-sandwich is the fact that you think this is OK.
You don't seem to grasp why people are upset. Everyone's been weary of this always-online stealth DRM, and no one likes the crappy way in which it is forced. It's been criticized several times, and now all our fears have become real (that's real life, if you hadn't noticed). The always-online didn't come back to bite them in the ass years down the line when they took the servers down, and the single-player game you bought magically doesn't work because suck it. No, a ton of people are having problem playing it on launch date.
This would've been considered a horribly failed launch if it were an MMO, but luckily, it's a single-player game, and the online-component can wait for some days, while we explore the single-player game, right? Nope. EA released a product that has ridiculous limitations that came back and bit them in the ass the first days it's been out. It's broken, it's horribly handled, and there's no end in sight. It's broken. When you buy a product, it should work, when it doesn't, you can refund it. But you can't even do that.
It's despicable that you think this is some sort of right that game publishers have. It's OK that you bend over and give up your ownership for things you buy, but the way you're bending backwards to take it from EA is part of what scares me as a consumer. Publishers can impose all sorts of restrictions on basic owner rights to products, and you're here defending them. I'd vote with my money, the problem is just that the fool and his money are easily parted, and there are a lot of fools to keep fueling this parade of shit some publishers are up to.
So no, don't listen to this guy. Whine. When you can't vote with your wallet, because EA even refuses to refund you, you can de-vote with your speech. Adding to the ongoing shitstorm is the only action you have left to give EA a heads up that they're being moronic, and you won't stand for it.

It just dropped me from my game and now whenever I click on my city, it asks me whether I want to roll it back or abandon it... I'm locked out.
Isn't the real problem here that EA have stopped allowing refunds though? So you can't return the game if you bought it off Origin.

Is anyone else having this problem where your city doesn't load no matter what?
I tried loading my city yesterday when I could get into the game (like 5 times all night) but it stood there loading forever.
Reinstalled the game overnight, but can't connect to East 2 right now to see if it resolved anything. Says it is "Busy" like always.

Yeah probably that. Actually, looking again at it, it appears his eyelids were not entirely shut so I could be entirely wrong. Cool reaction gif anyway.

Also I do feel bad for the developers who poured their heart and time into this game. The 2 hours I have actually been allowed to play have been wonderful.
Its too bad I've spent about 30 hours trying to play.
