As a huge Nier fan I have to say: Holy freaking shit!

Really hope some of the Nier crew is working on it (story and music ppl in particular).

Holy Mother of God. I really hope the original dev team works on this (I know it's unlikely, though). The first game is still my favorite, mostly because it's the inspiration for the best Let's Play ever posted on the internets and one of the best game OSTs in history.

Still alive, eh? Strap in, motherfuckers! Cavia stops pissing around at this point. This final wave demands your eyes and thumbs become one locked entity in-tune with the universe... allowing time and sound to flow through you like a stream.

If you fuck up pretty much any part of this next sequence, you are done.

No...that is not a typo...that is not hyperbole...that is Drakengard... That is a forty-nine sequence of button presses that come out non-stop for thirty seconds and must be hit flawlessly or it's back to the very beginning of the entire mission.

This is the final challenge of Drakengard: A barebones Action Brawler/Aerial Combat game with light RPG elements. A game that has an entire soundtrack that is nothing but chaotic dissonance has a rhythm game for its final challenge...

I did love Caim and Angelus's final fate in the second game though - it was so fitting (Caim ;_;)

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I must be in bizarro land. Good news though.

Hope it turns out to be true, but it just weird to see a non AAA title release this late in the cycle, they should have make a PS4 version of it since it is easier to develop for.

From that let's play:
Cavia should have just had the game crash to a giant, high resolution picture of goatse and formatted your memory card. It'd have about the same impact as going through all that bullshit to get this.

After beating that ending I just walked around my house yelling obscenities for about 30 minutes. Only other thing that has done that to me was the ending of the Berserk anime years before I even knew the manga went on for longer.

Yoko and Okabe are back confirmed :D

I'll buy 10 fucking copies.

Creative director? That's the same position that Suda51 has been taking...

Well, the roles don't necessarily mean the same thing across companies, plus if he writes the story itself even if he doesn't direct scenes or whatever I think we'll be fine.

The same guy says Yoko Taro is writing the scenario too. So I guess that's that. :p

The game will follow the series' tradition of high speed action, mixing ground combat and aerial dragon action sequences.

Still won't (likely) be the same.

If he's writing without Sawako Natori or Kikuchi Hana, I'm a bit worried. Sawako in particular was important for both Drakengard and Nier.

Personal MEGATON

The first two games were just captivating. They get a lot of hate, but I really loved playing them.

Can't wait for more info.

Okabe doesn't work alone and they contributed to the Nier tribute album, so it's not entirely impossible. Clearly Okabe is in charge though.

Let's hope so. I loved the experimental style of the Drag-on Dragoon soundtrack, how they chopped up classical music and combined it with choruses.

Is there anyway to play the uncensored, Japanese version of Drakenguard with English subtitles? Always wanted to play the game but I heard it had been butchered for the English release.

Isn't Suda's credit on the recent GHM titles that of an "Executive Director," rather than a creative one? It just sounds like he doesn't want to be called a straight-up producer.

I don't think it was butchered. I think all they did was remove some references to implied incest.
