Good Q-bee tutorial from Floe, I have a general idea of how to play her without having to use every single thing she has.

Definitely thinking of putting more time in with her now.

EDIT: Who else is playing this game with Filters Off+Scanlines? =P

Top tier
Lord Raptor
Sasquatch

High tier
Jon Talbain
Q. Bee
B.B. Hood

Mid tier
Felicia
Rikuo
Lei Lei
Bishamon
Demitri

Low tier
Morrigan
Lilith
Jedah
Victor

Bottom tier
Anakaris

What makes Victor better than Anakaris?

Sixfortyfive

He who pursues two rabbits gets two rabbits.
What makes Victor better than Anakaris?
IIRC:
- Anakaris is the only character who cannot pushblock
- Anakaris is the only character who does not have a normal throw
- Anakaris is the only character who has to spend meter to guard cancel

Correct if wrong.

Only people that play VS anymore just wreck the shit out of scrubs all day until they quit.

Further perpetuating the dead game status of VS.

All the more reason to aim to get better at the game >=3
Why not focus on playing against GAF members for now to get better?

I think I'll just wait until/if DS4 ever gets made so we all end up semi-equal footing and go back to playing games I know until then.

How is Raptor high tier, he seems to have some trouble with some matchups (Airdashers)

High mobility, high damage, strong air normals, unblockable attack from resets. Its mostly his unblockable though that puts him above Sasquatch.

People are hungry for those rank points right now man. There is a very entertaining fight for top ranks going on right now.

If it is proving to be a problem try sticking to player matches.

Eh, they're in full force in player lobbies as well. Trolling around with Rikuo unblockable setups and switching to Anakaris when I've lost 10 times.

In fact... like 4/5 matches I fight are against Rikuo players and the last one always being Jedah players.

What unblockble? Sasquatch feels like a KOF character to me, with his dash being a hyperhop.

Yeah it is lol. Alot of good known names up there on xbox live. From justin wong, floe to really good japan players like ddsasquatch and shimatsun. Sako's even playing on live with some matches with lei lei on replay. Really good stuff.

I'm in vampire heaven right now.

Thats how it was with HDR, 3S:OE, every release of Tekken, Guilty Gear, etc.

You should stick with it. I think you'd be surprised how good you will become when your done being beaten up.

Yeah. I've been getting bodied most of the time, but the matches move so quickly and the animation/art is so lovely that I don't mind it at all.

I'm just excited to be able to learn a new game. I never played Darkstalkers much when it was in arcades, so this is fresh and exciting for me.

The game was absolutely inaccessible on GGPO. Players were willing to help but it would have taken years to beat someone.

I think this release brings that down a notch and allows everyone to learn the game without too much negative reinforcement.

I don't see this game keeping much of its community.
Why does everyone always declare all fighting games DOA for the online part? Is this some FGC meme or something?

It's still relatively easy to find new players on ranked. Just set to find players of same level in matchmaking options.

Absolutely quoted for truth. I was dominated regularly by everyone in the GGPO room. There were newer players in that room and then there were pros with seemingly no bridge between the two. That said, with my performance online, playing those really good players probably helped my game in ways that I just couldn't gauge back then. Because of the stiff competition I made it a point to learn how to pushblock and guard cancel effectively and now playing randoms in Resurrection I feel like I'm the one that has to take it easy on the new faces, almost never use Sasquatch in the player matches.

I feel like I have a good understanding of how to play Hsien-ko. It's just that the pressure from the top tier is just overwhelming.

Am I allowed to yell at 90's Capcom for not giving Chireitou invincibility? >:-|

Because folks drop off on fighting games, especially if they're believed to me executionally hard.

Then as the scrubs die off, folks who aren't committed to the game will get frustrated by losing too much and will quit.

I still have nightmares from being completely devoured by some of the japanese players in that room. At least I could get a hit or two in against someone like fLoE before getting rocked.

The Japanese site got updated with bios of Dark Talbain, Oboro Bishamon and Shadow. (It's really too bad that they didn't get any new artwork, those characters especially are in need of some. They have practically zero official portraits.)

Their placement on the site, plus the giant empty space on the Character Move List menu in-game are leading me to believe even more that the arrange characters will be coming eventually to Darkstalkers 3.

No Dee though?

This game for the most part isn't executionally hard though.

The DOA online for fighting games is a meme. People love to claim it the day a new fighting game that isn't SF or Marvel hits the shelves.

So, something not directly DSR-related: I was thinking that, if there were a new game in the series, who would I want to do voice acting for each of the characters. Can only think of a few so far...

Jon Talbain: Simon Templeman - I always though Templeman had a voice that would work for a tortured individual. Plus, I would give LoK VOs work in every situation. Can't think of anybody for Michael Bell yet.

Jedah: David Warner - Warner has a really good "big bad" voice while still retaining a dignified air about it; good for a high noble.

Lord Raptor: Scott McNeil - For obvious reasons.

Rikuo: A Dremora from Skyrim - Not necessarily the "eat your heart" attitude, but whenever I heard a dremora speak, I always felt it was some sort of underwater creature.

Felicia: Eliza Dushku - I personally dislike the idea that Felicia talks like a squeaky-toy woman-child in MvC3. I preferred the more normal approach they took in the Night Warriors anime, while still having a very emotive voice, which I think Dushku would be quite capable of.

Aaaand those are all that I can think of off the top of my head. Not sure immediately about the rest of the characters; anybody have other ideas?

It takes a bit of dedication is all. Players there were practically falling over themselves to help me out when I started like 2 years ago. Once I figured out how to simulate a training mode with cheats and used Shoultzula's tech hit tutorial I was in there. Don't ever expect to beat Dyne115 if you run into him though LMAO.

Just PM some gaffers, guy. I think you'll have some fun if you get in contact with the right people. These dedicated VSav players will probably do the same to most people in DSIV. Honestly, learning VSav helped me become an all around better player in almost all fighting games that aren't SFIV.

No, but you are allowed to yell at Capcom for making the gaps between the swords too large and for the move's active frames keeping Lei Lei in her super pose too long.

No joke, a good Morrigan player named SGW literally walked past three of my Chireitou swords and grabbed me like 5-7 weeks ago. It was like the perfect coincidence and even he must have been surprised by that.

If I had to label her weaknesses they would be these things. Chireitou swords leave too large a gap/keep her in super pose too long, her horizontal item toss isn't full screen/does not dizzy at all/has a lot of active frames and she has no reliable AA to fall back on versus characters like Q.Bee. Other stuff like low health being low or her gongs not having a stronger hitbox is really insignificant stuff.

Those too, OMG. Then again she is shoving huge swords through her sleeves.... guess that takes a lot of effort.

The horizontal item toss not going full screen is something I can live with, but it does feel rather silly in a limiting kind of way. It's not like the startup of the toss is fast. And the anti-air problem is odd because stand strong and low roundhouse look like good anti-airs but they simply aren't. Low strong is the best one, but even then it can't stop people right above you. It suuuuuucks.

The gongs are great IMO. I actually catch people dashing into them all the time in the air or ground. Granted her ES moves also kind of suck...

Capcom was giving out codes on twitter but the questions seemed unfair. XBOX: What monster does Victor resemble? What kind of creature is talbain? PS3: How many characters are in Vsav minus 1 also how many ex moves does morrigan have?

Yeah, I was going 0-2 in the weekly GGPO tournaments and I just kept at it and now I can consistently get Top 4/8. Just a matter of how much time you put into it.

Agreed. If you're on 360, remember to add DarkstalkersGAF to find other GAF members to play with.

How are they unfair? They all seem like easy questions.
For the Vsav-1, the answered would be 14, that is if we disregard the extra characters in the arcade release.

Sorry about those terrible games, vocab.

I'm pretty bad too. At least the latency was good!

Work on using your meter more. I'm pretty sure if you threw out anything I would of got hit by it because I don't even remember what certain things look like. The main thing you should practice with lilith is comboing into Luminous Illusion. It's not easy, but it's kind of an end goal with her.

Man, I don't know why this game will never register a DP for me.
I can only get it if I'm mashing Soul Flash constantly, or I get crossed up (I don't even know how this works).

was playing Savior on normal speed.

You can appreciate that sweet animation even more. Alot of effect/detail is lost when playing on turbo.

Of course it's slow as hell, haha. Back to turbo..

It such a difference in speed, it's hilarious when you would see it in attract mode.

That session really made me realize how terrible I am at this game. How the fuck do you get out of that Hsien-Ko corner pressure? It seemed impossible to get out of there unless you let me. Mashing dp simply leads to me taking more damage into another knockdown and Demitri's AA normals pretty much suck against the angle Hsien comes at you with except st. LP, but you need to be so specific with your timing because it's barely active.

The only thing I can suggest is rolling out and successfully defending the mixup.

I wish some kind of speed in between normal and turbo existed as the standard. The game just feels a tad too fast as is, and like everyone is saying the glorious animation is mostly lost due to skipped frames.
