I'm in the same boat, going to get a new 1080p tv for my bedroom, don't need anything to big, 24" or so. That plus PS4 and a couple of launch games, I reckon will cost about £650/£700.

IMO the more expensive the better,(within limits) I feel that way it will be more worthwhile. What's the point buying a PS4 if it's not a big evolution compared to the PS3?

If people don't like the price, just wait 2 years after release, the price will be lower but you will still have the powerful hardware and of course there will be plenty of games to choose from by then.

Wonder if Dark Souls 2 could make it in time to co-incide with the launch..assuming FROM will port it on both upcoming next-gen consoles+old consoles+PC.

If they do it'll give hem that next gen hype advantage with the already loyal fanbase plus bring in newcomers.

I think we'll see a lot of the just-announced end-of-generation games (Dark Souls II, MGS"V", etc.) end up being cross-generation releases. I really think we'll see a lot more of these than we did last gen just because of how long this generation has gone on and how large the install base is on both platforms.

I really feel if you're in Sony's current spot and things are so bad you're having to sell off one of your buildings, a PS4 is the LAST thing they should be worried about. I honestly feel they cannot afford even the slightest chance of another Vita scale...I won't say failure but massive disappointment. I think a PS4 right now would be very foolish and probably sink them even faster than they're already sinking.

Here's the deal: Come either a May announcement or at the Sony Press Conference day for E3, IF I end up being colosally wrong and they DO announce and unveil a PS4, I will gladly admit I was wrong, and peacefully ask a Mod to close out my Gaf account. No argument, no alternate account shenanigans..just an honest straight up exit from Gaf. That's how strongly I'm standing by the predictions I made in the other thread. MS will do a set top box a la Apple TV with a heavy focus on multimedia initiatives, and I think Sony's plans probably changed significantly since the start of whatever they were planning in early 2011..to put it somewhat sensibly I guess. I feel I will be vindicated on one prediction or both. I have a few guesses what their announcement could be and I'll leave it at that. I am disappointed that it seems like I haven't fit in here as well as I'd hoped I might, so to give that deal to the community is fair. I DO have lots of knowledge about the industry, it would just be nice if I and others too could express our opinions without getting our butts ripped apart. Anyway, that's the deal. I honor my promises and if I'm wrong on this one I'll honor my word and exit Gaf.

not sure why anyone paying attention to the specs of the ps4 would assume it would be anywhere near the cost of a launch ps3. the ps3 had expensive, custom designed processor, this one is off the shelf. the ps3 had an expensive blu ray drive, those things are cheap now. the ps3 had bc hardware built in, this one doesn't.

without those things the ps3 would have been $200 cheaper.

IF I end up wrong come E3, I'll eat my hat and maturely admit I was wrong. With the shape they're in though a PS4 in any form will be suicidal. They cannot afford even the slightest risk of a loss with something like that. They can't take that kind of loss. They simply can't afford it in monetary terms. Playstation has had an amazing 15 year history. People need to be grateful for and celebrate that. I just think their mess is beyond the point of no return. If it's not there yet, it will be soon. Management doesn't want to face hard reality or make the changes needed for whatever reason. How much longer they have depends on what they do this year. Whatever that involves will have to have PS3 at the center.

I don't get it. :/

The guy put a bet on his account. He apparently lost, and another user reminded that the bet has to be payed. I mean his motivation for reviving this topic may be questionable (spite and such), but why would that be a bannable offense, taking into account that he only raised an issue which was not resolved. :/
