It's actually insulting to be told it's a mere 'typo'. There is no way the name Versus XIII can be accidentally changed to XV, since there is no reason to believe that XV even exists.

When they re-reveal the game at E3 it's gonna be like this:
Final Fantasy Versus XIII appears on the screen.
Then the X will move to the left of the V.
Then everything after the V fades away leaving Final Fantasy XV.
Final Fantasy Versus XIII appears on the screen.

I actually can totally see this happening.

It becoming a PS4 exclusive though is the only right move though. After issuing such a big promise for the PS3, its only right to turn around and deliver the most incredibly realized first-wave exclusive launch game that the world has ever seen.

My issue with Versus being FF15, is that I wonder if SE would allow to have their main titled FF games to be rated 17+/ 18+ or the like. If VXIII was indeed renamed XV, is it possible that some of the original decisions behind the game were changed? Not only to lower the score (removal of the blood?), but also to soften up the transition from turn-based to action-combat?
A side FF game featuring an evolution of KH's combat system is one thing, but a main FF game suddenly featuring that KH's battle system is another. There are many different kinds of action RPGs. Lightning Return's combat system, even though it's action-based, is a "natural evolution" of the old turn-based combat. KH's combat is a bit ditached from that, even though it has a "command menu".

The point is that they wrote '15' in numbers, not XV in roman numerals. It definitely wasn't a typo in the common sense of the word.
Now it remains to see if they changed that knowing what they were talking about or if they took it straight out of where the sun doesn't shine.

As should be apparent from the exchange (our only exchange), he has no insider information, or any sources in particular. The only information he has, is what I gave him, and even that information (which amounts to next to nothing) wasn't entirely correct, as there's no reason for me to trust him not posting it anywhere else. A good thing, because he started posting/hinting that information subsequent to my PM to him.
He knew nothing one day, to knowing lots of different things the next and started hinting them on GAF. All from that one tiny PM.
The reason why I know he has no other sources is because the mod he says PMed him is a mod I spoke with. I don't believe that mod has given him any information either. Zeal was posting and hinting at a "Versus XIII" reveal at the PS Meeting, and the mod in question knew there wouldn't be a reveal of the game at that event weeks before (I know since I told them). After it didn't show, Zeal was making excuses that there was a last minute change, and now he's come out with this glorious piece of information. All of which is basically nonsense and guess work. He keeps betting his account for a ban to make people take him seriously too.
I'm posting this because I kind of feel sorry seeing as he's blatantly deceiving folks by making things up.

Yeah, if Square Enix puts Final Fantasy XV on the new Xbox console they'll be shooting themselves in the foot. I don't know if you're familiar with Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but....

Are you joking or just insane? The market is segmented too much for exclusivuty to be viable. That's just too much money left on the table.
Considering the alternatives (GCN or Xbox1) it was the most sound decision.
In 2013? Not so much there are too many Xbox gamers in the west. If they want to ignore them and focus on one platform, that'll be their prerogative, and just dumb, oh well.
In America it certainly is, but it seems 360 versions of Japanese releases are pretty poor. I think at the very least for North America they will continue to release it multiplat.
Especially since next-gen the console architecture is insanely similar, it would likely be quite cheap to move it over. Unless there is going to be some mandatory Kinect support or something.

And there are actually zero 720 gamers in the west right now. People are assuming way too much about that system. The 360 didn't even sell that many copies of FF this gen.

I guess this speaks volume of how attached to this game fans are. Any other games with this kind of Duke Nukem Forever-like production would get ridiculed at this point.
This is an opposing game to Final Fantasy XIII, hence the name. It's supposedly going to be a darker and more gritty game when compared to the lighter and more vibrant world in XIII. The game takes place in the same world, but the settings and characters are all new and unrelated to FF XIII, despite preceding information which suggested players would be taking the roles of characters antagonistic to the heroes from XIII. The main character is a prince, and the empire in which he serves is the last of its kind and remains the resting place of the final crystal, whatever that is.
