BioShock Infinite PC Performance Thread

Thanks, I'll try messing with it. Will in-game FXAA hurt it or can I leave it enabled too?
FXAA makes it harder for SMAA to find edges to apply AA to... but no, it won't HURT. You just get diminishing returns for the performance... which is still pretty negligable for SMAA. I'm using downsampling + FXAA + SMAA.

Thank you, that is what I thought, but I've seen a number of people mix the in-game AA with downsampling. I guess you would need to downsample from a higher resolution than 1440p to make the in-game AA redundant.

Also you should check this thread ;)

That depends on how picky you are. The thing about downsampling is that games just look better and better the higher you go. And when you have a decent view distance, objects further away benefit from higher downsampling even more.

Also, I post in that thread regularly. I play with all the settings I take my screenshots at. Some people just have that hardware ;)

My piece of shit machine is running this on medium at 60 FPS, which is fine by me.

Core2 Quad q6600 @ 2.40 GHz, 4GB of RAM, and a GTX 460...

Damn dude you have almost the exact same specs as me, except I have a gtx470.

I'm doing all medium custom setting, but with high textures. It's running fine. Not 60, but more than playable for me. Looks great too.

I'm running the game on Ultra on 1080p with my 7870 and and it fluxuates between 60 and 30 depending on what is happening on screen, which is kind of annoying. I dropped it down to Very High and it stays super smooth. Anybody know what setting could be causing the dips on ultra? Lock Framerate maybe?

Running XFX Radeon HD 2GB 7870, AMD Phenom II Black quad 3.4ghz, 8GB ram.

My 2500k @ 4.3 and 660ti are running custom med/high. Most things are on normal but I have high textures. Played the first 30 minutes and only had one dip below 60fps
when I first walked into the center plaza in columbia
(not even really a spoiler). Haven't hit any combat yet so not sure about that. I'll run the benchmarking tool when I have a little more time.

Have not updated my drivers yet so I'll do a before and after benchmarking of that too.

That mouse sensitivity fix was mandatory. Completely unplayable with my Sensei RAW without it.

That depends on what's happening in the scenes where the framerates drop.

How far is this into the game? Is it before you meet Elizabeth?

I think its a little bit before, but just keep paying attention to that kinda thing and you'll definetly see it in some areas.

It was worse ina certain corner of the house with the first chest, there were some red lines going on and something. Weird as hell

God, these textures are amazing. You can stick your nose right up against some of them and zoom in and they still look good. The texture work isn't 100% consistent, but it is heads and shoulders above 99% of games out there.

This is the best looking game I've ever played and I strongly disagree.

yea, the gate textures in the early part were beyond ugly tho. Not sure why some textures were not more hi-res.

Using driver 314.22. All settings maxed except for shadows, AO. Forcing V-sync via the CP (playing at 1920 X 1080). The stuttering is fucking killing me. In the fairgrounds, pausing and un-pausing causes the game to stutter as well. How do you get rid of it? Increasing PoolSize to 768 didn't help at all.

Did you find the mythical HD texture pack of legend?

Ah, you must have the Dennis fan-mod texture pack. PM me the details for non-2d rose bushes

The streaming has a few problems, for example I was riding a skyline into what looked like nothing but clouds when suddenty the whole next level segment popped in.

I'm running on ultra-1080p 60FPS with an AMD-FX8350 + Radeon HD7950 Combo.

God this game is gorgeous! I didn't know unreal could look this good and colorful.

Worried about these stuttering complaints, it's the ONE thing I absolutely abhor. Aliasing, low res textures ain't got shit on interrupting nice, buttery smoothness.

played about 3 more hours and it still shuttering pretty bad... got poolsize on 512 what could I increase it to... the op says 640... can you go higher without fucking shit up.... other than that though the game is amazing... but it really is annoying..

Is sli support super crappy? While my y500 with sli 650ms is not a crazy power house, I've been able to get 60fps (or very close) at ultra/near ultra levels on all the recent games other than crisis 3. I'm getting mostly stable 30 with one 650 in bioshock and it goes up to like 35 with the second card enabled.

Great art direction can do a lot. I wish Crytek would focus on that over their tech.

you dont really need to though, you can still use one on top of the other

also guess i'll ask one more time: anyone has any idea how to make the injector work while running d3doverrider?

Running FXAA decreases SMAA's ability to detect jagged edges, it also introduces addition texture blurring and a mild performance hit.

It is a terrible idea to run both at the same time.

When it comes to making something look ultra realistic, the margin for success becomes a lot smaller, and challenging. Crytek have almost nailed their art style. What you may have meant was, "I wish Crytek would change their art style to one more surreal."

Averaging mid 30s with frequent drops to 10-20 on 720p medium settings on my GTX260. I know it's an older card, but considering Dishonored ran silky smooth, I'm a little disappointed.

There is nothing ultra realistic about crysis's style.
