I think giving people a smaller pool of the RIGHT tools works far better than a crapload of tools that are ultimately unnecessary and lead to confusion. A person will spend more time searching for that tool(s) that might work compared to a smaller amount that will definitely get the job done. You guys are in a singular position as designers to give us a map, game settings, and weapons that will absolutely work for across the board with minor tweaks here and there, but instead, 343 has dropped a metric ton of weapons, perks, specializations, and Armor Abilities on the table and said, "here". I don't find that to be fun or rewarding as a (admittedly mediocre) player and fan of the franchise.
Unless I'm missing the point you were making. Could be the case; I'm on some serious painkillers right now.

I mean giving players more tools, generally. Everyone thinks their favorite mode is the right mode. So rather than argue or fight with stats or populism, give players the tools to create those specific experiences and the ability to connect them.
Fun fact: my collegiate program, like many colleges, is basically 2 parts DeviantArt and 1 part the rest of the internet. So when I went to prom with the missus last week, I made a drinking game out of counting how many people wore fedoras.

I've just grown tired of pretty much every map that's not haven or DLC, the DLC maps simply because I haven't played them that much yet. Adrift, complex, abandon and solace just aren't appealing at all.

It's SUPER easy to decamp them. SWAT though tends to be two teams running their favorite patterns. Sometimes they're different, often the same. I will say that if a real Team camps the center of Haven and even good randoms play the loop, they will get massacred. Likewise if they have one or two Bumper Jumpers, it's all over for the other team.
JUMPING/BUNNYHOPPING IN SWAT IS CHEATING IMO.
As is anything else I am bad at.

I'm a high school senior. However, the local college whose campuses span pretty much the whole county have a "collegiate high school" program that has students earn both a high school diploma and an AA degree by going for three years (sophomore to senior) while attempting to take elements from both school systems. It's pretty young - I think it's only 11 or 12 years old. The first year essentially crams your entire high school diploma's workload into a sophomore year, while the junior and senior years have you taking the college courses on campus necessary for your major as well as a mandatory 300 minutes of "Research" (which is essentially a study hall) a week, generally split up into four 75-minute periods in order to meet the hourly requirements of high school. There are a few other snags like a huge "capstone presentation" in your senior year designed to get you some experience in your career field that spans pretty much 75% of your senior semesters, but the benefits like the free two years of college and having Fridays off are completely worth it.
We have high school events like a yearly dance and even extracurricular clubs (though minor) but the kids are mostly just asthmatic sheltered manbabies. I've never heard of prom in college either, and I'm the dude that popularized the term Prom Knight.
On-topic: I know people are clamoring for Halo 2 2 or Combat Evolved 2, but I'd really rather them just condense the good parts of the original trilogy into a game rather than end up pulling another 2 + Reach = 4.

Also a strafe acceleration rate modifier would do wonders, but I don't know how hard that is to make into an option.

If Halo 5 features a full level editor along with classic settings and a custom browser (and most importantly, Covenant Crates), it'll be a Day 0 purchase for me. As long as I can host intense classic lobbies on some classic feeling maps, I'll be on board. At that point, whatever is in Matchmaking wouldn't bother me.
