I know it's a complete pipe dream, but I really wish they could have gotten Swartzwelder for this.

Just because I can't not post this, here is the episode description for the two episodes that will air to close off Season 24 next month.
I posted that a page or two ago and no-one listened to me

I really wish they could have gotten someone besides Al Jean to defend the modern direction of the series.I know it's a complete pipe dream, but I really wish they could have gotten Swartzwelder for this.
Haha, it's all good. Just that posting things in any thread on GAF tend to get overlooked. Or maybe it's just meWill watch later, thanks!
It's just going to be a "fun stories from when we worked on this show in 1993" segment.
That was a good roundtable
I wish they'd just end it already
They should decide they are having the last season and bring back some of the best writers for the last season

I should probably mention that the Season 24 finale... "The Man Who Came to be Dinner”... is being directed by David Silverman whose credits include Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire, Some Enchanted Evening (essentially the first episode to air and the first episode ever made, respectively), The Raven short from Treehouse of Horror I, the entirety of Treehouse of Horror IV, Mother Simpson, The Way We Was and Bart vs. Thanksgiving. There were some incredibly memorable visual scenes from those classic episodes.just get james l brooks or greg daniels to write the final episode, and swartzwelder to write the second-to-last. although swartzwelder's later episodes weren't that great (like the lastest gun in the west).

He also handled the direction and animation of all of the Ullman shorts from their debut in 1987.
The episode itself is being written by Al Jean... who while he's been showrunner for quite a number of years hasn't written anything since contributing to The Simpsons Movie.
His credits with Mike Reiss include Moaning Lisa, Stark Raving Dad and Lisa's Pony and individual credits include Lisa's Sax, Mom and Pop Art and Guess Who's Coming to Criticize Dinner and HOMR. He has not written a script himself since Season 12.
