The first few seconds of the video looked weird to me, but the dungeons looked pretty good, and I liked Link's model when you could actually see it while he was being flung in the air. He looked like a mix between Child Link in OoT and old 2D games Link.

Not really seeing the NSMB comparisons at all.

I don't get why people are hating nearly unanimously on the artstyle. I think it looks much nicer than the sorry attempt at Celda style they made with the DS games...

It looks amazing. The haters are just more vocal. Also, differing opinions and all that, calm down.

Anyway, this is all I wanted from Zelda on 3DS. I'm so happy right now.

I'm always the first to complain on why some games aren't in true 2d but this isn't the case, it looks incredibly awesome.

But it sucks really really REALLY hard that they are using the same map.

The main problem with the art style seems to be the sterile, bobble-headed Link. It looks so odd.

I'm betting Nintendo will be self-aware enough to make jokes about that in-game.

I don't like LTTP.

It's also Paper Zelda. There are now genuinely ways they can fuck this up because it's now Paper Zelda.

Paper. Fucking. Zelda.

Is your melting down serious? Because it doesn't bear any resemblance to or notion of Paper Mario...?

It looks like LTTP design with a modern SLIGHTLY clay-mation twist.

I don't care whether it's top down, sidescrolling, whatever, I don't give a fuck, it simply looks like crap, sterile, plastic-y and unappealing. Evilore summed it up pretty well, "New Zelda Bros".

I want to know what it should've looked like instead.
This game looks like Zelda should look on a handheld in 2D/3D. It has a modern interpretation of the LTTP artstyle. It absolutely destroys all previous handheld Zeldas visually. Should it have gone with the Skyward Sword style? The Wind Waker style? The OOT/Twilight Princess style? The NES style?

I think it's actually true now when they say that there's no way to satisfy Zelda fans universally. I can't think of how to make this artstyle not "sterile" or generic or whatever.

People that hate this art - how would you liven it up or change it?

No pink hair is no buy.

Imo it looks great. I like my 2d zelda games really gamey and my 3d ones more otherworldy and immersive. Not in a cinematic way like modern games. But I think some of you know what I mean.

I'm not doing backflips about the art, but I imagine it looks a lot better on a 3DS. Just like Kid Icarus and 3D Land and everything else.

Would've just preferred they reused the sprite assest from ALTTP.

What, no. No. Why. I mean, come on. I know it's a matter of opinions and all, but for that to be all you have to say about this is weird. There's something so much more objectively interesting about the way this game looks.

While interesting, and I will certainly try it out, it is in no way anywhere near the picture I had in my head all the years I imagined playing more zelda games like LTTP.

Not a fan of the art style, level design or types of game play shown off, we shall see though.

If this is their big Christmas game, I'm selling my system.

It's 2013. There's no excuse for making 2D Zelda other than laziness. I didn't buy a handheld this decade to play SNES games with polygons.
