No No No. 90s style or nothing.

Someone get that 3D logo from the DCKR 3D boxart and place it on this.

Really only the overworld is lookin kinda bland, and even that is only because of the quality of the tree models. The dungeon footage all looked really great. I'm inclined to think they'll do some additional work on the overworld before this drops, though again, the 3D effect really helps it look nicer.

That dungeon looked pretty good besides those awful hyperactive face buttons.

Replies like "fix the trees" and low-poly and lazy-looking" are like looking up at the sky, seeing a rainbow and saying, "that rainbow looks like shit, you'd think mother nature would actually put some effort into this."

I was just playing LTTP and it is by far my favourite zelda game. The open worldness to it was something I really felt as if later zeldas lost. I am glad this is happening but I hope they are using a different map and not the same one. Also I think they should have used 2-D artsyle rather than this horrible 3-D one. Just look how amazing lttp looks:

I may be in the minority on this but I prefer the above art style.

LttP is far from my favorite, but its art style is miles better than whatever they showed in this game.

I have no idea what this game will look like or how well it will play when it comes out. And I'm glad to see another zelda game come out of nintendo. I'm also undoubtedly looking forward to playing this. But sometimes it feels like nintendo is in the business of copying itself.

Why do they constantly need to recreate their old ideas? It's a game with a bunch of new stuff in it that looks potentially pretty awesome, so why not let it be its own game? Why must this be LttP2?

It's like the new developers are in reverence of the old guys so much that all they can do is emulate them without coming up with their own ideas. Or maybe it's the old guys who are still leading these projects but are stuck in past.

I don't know, but the nintendo of old would jump at the chance to make something brand new for a new console. Imagine the SNES came out and you got was a zelda 1 remix with slightly different art. It would be a cop-out.

That's not what this is, sure. This is more like the difference between a company trying to implement every good idea it can come up with (LttP, OoT, SMG) and a company that's trying to recreate the past and add just a little more and call it done (NSMB, AC:CF, Mario Party). Or at least that's what it looks like. I can only hope I'm proved wrong.

This sounds super negative but I know nintendo can find (and then execute!) some of the most startlingly brilliant ideas, but reliving the past isn't one of them.

Well that's my 2c on a game I've barely seen :p

Mother 1 -> Mother 2
Castlevania -> Super Castlevania 4
Metroid -> Metroid Zero Mission

I dunno. Those games were pretty good despite heavily borrowing from their NES predecessors to the point of almost being reimaginings.

It's probably already been said, but the Link model DOES look better in the 3D video. It's clearly designed with 3D in mind. Still a bit weird, but I suspect we'll get used to it.

Otherwise this looks great. The 3DS trailer also includes some more footage.

love the art-style
the new top down look can be a hit or miss, the new gimmicks for puzzles are always welcomed.

I can't wait to play the game. I see a lot of people nitpicking a lot of minor details and exaggerate them as if they were a big deal though.

Nintendo could announce a cure for all cancers, and there would still be peopel pissing in that reveal thread.
Gotta log off now before I go too far :p

It has potential - plants (outside of trees) look good, Link looks fine, but they have to work on textures of everything else. Either improve on the current art style, or change to cell-shading. Both will do.

Cos you're annoyed by the main visual effect of the game/system, which must suck. And that you can't appreciate the beautiful quality of a game rendered in stereoscope.

Couldn't care less about shitty 3D with cross talk and the necessity to hold the system JUST SO. For me, it adds nothing to games. No need to feel sorry for somebody for an optional, and useless to some, feature.

I don't understand. I feel sorry that people aren't enjoying the 3D of the 3DS. It seems like that would be a downer to not enjoy the main selling point. I'm not being sarcastic or anything...?

I bought mine because it plays games I want to play. That's the main selling point. Games.

Also Top down zelda >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 3D zelda

So excited for this game.

The battle between "this new game changed too much" and "Nintendo games don't change enough" is fun to watch when Directs happen.

In terms of quality this will sit right alongside the DS Zelda games. Mark my words.

It'll be an average game and a bad Zelda game.

I haven't played those, so I don't know how to respond :p

Of course, judging by the fact that the last entry from a classic Nintendo IP that I can think of off the top of my head really enjoying was Metroid Prime, I'm going to be idling at cautiously optimistic on this one for a while.

Well let's say you missed the sign in the dark world that tells you to throw a stone to get one of the medallions, which could easily happen as I don't think you have to ever go there for anything else, then you can't get to turtle rock. What do you do from there? Walk across every inch of the map until you stumble upon the sign? That's not trusting the player to be smart, that's the equivalent of a 3000x3000 pixel hunt.

I'm not sure what you're getting at here. Are you saying it was hard to notice something because the graphics were crummy? I don't ever remember getting stuck anywhere in ALttP. The game trains you to look for hints or get familiar with the way things are hidden. Usually when you get stuck, you feel silly about how obvious something was later on. That's not the game's fault.

I'm confused.

It's recreating the past with great new ideas? If it has new ideas and great concepts, what's the problem? The fact that it's called Zelda?

The art style looks identical to me. Slightly different color tone, but it's essentially LttP in 3D.

Not really sure I understand the outcry. Is it really that different to some people?
