Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen |OT| deep down darkness

The shortcuts don't close up after you beat him the second time around. It takes about 5 minutes or less to make it to him from the second shortcut, farm away!

Did you use MA to kill him? I've yet to try it with that vocation, ranger is my go to class at the moment.

^ Does amazon not have the game in stock? Thought you ordered it last Tuesday.

Yeah it was pretty much stagger-locked with Sixfold arrow spam.

Are there shortcuts? I didn't notice any.

Well, my PS3 save has all the goodies, burger. I wasn't too far along on my 360 save, so I had to make a decision. Ultimately, I went with the PSN version.

My ranger is using Golden Belt and Trophy Jacket depending on the encounter. I'll make sure to send you some bitterblack armor if I don't get anything good from it....better than storing something I won't use.
Trophy Jacket is the one I do have. I've gotten nothing for my fighter or warrior. If you get chest armor and don't want it, I'll make sure to send you back some lvl 3 equipment in return

I'm going to beat daimon with a different class to see if it changes thge drops or not

Watching your pawn grow into a merciless killer is so satisfying. My strider is level 35 and I picked up some great great from all over my travels. Sometimes I get a bit worried that she will out dps me lol. So many times when I am charging towards an opponent only to see them fly away dead with an arrow in their eye socket.

Welp.... started my PSN download (12GB). Haven't played the game since July of last year, so I'm not sure where I'm at or what I was doing. I think I was over level 100 (Assassin, Roy Mustang) with a kick ass Sorcerer pawn (Riza Hawkeye).

You know the rooms after beating Gazer and Sorcerer+Dragon lead to the outside, right? It's a quick way to hit the middle and lower stratums. If you want to farm Daimon just take the second shortcut and rush through every zone ignoring all monsters. You'll be surprised how fast you get to Daimon.

Was it from beating Daimon? What class do you use to beat him?

Magical Archer. Yes I got it from Daimon

I've been killing him as MA.

Put Leg Strength + Athleticism in augments, load up pawn with Demon Periapts and Harspud Sauce.

Run through last shortcut to the final rest stop. Change skills at Barroch for Daimon fight. Run through last area.

Pop 4 Demon Periapts and watch Daimon lose almost a full health bar on each ninefold shot (upgraded sixfold). If my pawn climbs on him, I fire upgraded explosive shots at him and laugh.

It's a science now.

Interesting.

Did you get anything worthwhile on the 3rd floor of BBI after exiting Daimon 2.0?

Interesting.

I have a theory that the type of drop you get is also dependent on the vocation you beat Daimon with, not just the vocation you use when uncursing the items. I'm going to test this out.

Btw prophet I've killed Daimon about 10-12 times and never gotten a chest armor. Legs, gloves, carrion mask. Best item so far is Leggings of Oblivion or whatever they're called.

You are correct. The color of the item that drops determines what type of item you get. There are three

Strider/Ranger/Assassin is yellow
Fighter/Warrior is red
Mage/Sorc is blue

I've gotten blue and red items playing MK, as well as yellow and blue items playing MA. This is determined at the items drop not at the purifying. Though both the contents of the chests as well as the result of the purification can alter if you save/reload beforehand.

Exact same with me, just arm and leg armor. Makes me wonder if being a different vocation for the actual fight matters. Maybe fight/warrior/assassins have a better shot at chest armor? Idk, going to try

Ah, good decision to go with the ps3 save, you'll need all the help you can get when starting BBI. Btw, any idea when they're adding the savage jho / Alatreon quests?

I've only gotten junk there.

Since I'm like level 60 and on New game plus I switched to hard mode for a higher challenge/faster leveling, and it's not 'hard', it's just cheap. When any enemy in a group can sweep in from beyond your field of vision and take you out in 2-3 hits survival comes down to stupid luck.

That's the biggest problem I have with the game, the difficulty is well tuned up until the end of your first playthrough, then you either become a god of death that can cut anything down with a few simple swipes or you switch to hard mode and risk getting 3-shot by every bandit in the game.

I hope they release more content-maybe tune it for max level characters so there isn't this wild disparity in difficulty.

The Speedrun mode works in a contained world, so all the exp and everything you find will not be carried to the main save file.

I don't know the time limit to receive the rewards but is better to try de Speedrun mode in NG+ after you placed the portcrystals in key areas. Also, you cannot save in this mode and you cannot access online paws.

I finish the Speedrun in 56 minutes, and received the Forest Tunic Set and the Set of Caretaker's Garb.

For people who have finished BBI. Is it worth maxing the Ur Dragon weapons or should I wait for better weapons?

Also having a lot of trouble with the Elder Ogres. My party takes at least 5-10 minutes to kill one. Any tips?

Unless you're specifically talking about Heaven's Keys or Ascalon, the rest of the Ur weapons are actually worse than what Grigori drops. It's cool that they buffed the dragon weapons, but it doesn't make ANY sense to leave the weapons that appear after that weaker than them. Sucks to be all of the people that vendored Grigori's stuff because it was weaker than what you could get in Everfall prior to DA.

I know a few of you guys were wondering about cursed lv3 chest pieces. A few hours ago I posted about finding a lv3 armor in midnight helix and I knew it was a chest piece based on its weight. But because I turned the game off before purifying it, I didn't want to post that it was a chest and send you guys on a wild goose chase in case I was wrong. Go farm the gold chest in midnight helix, guys. It's the one where 3 skeleton brutes spawn above the poisoned sewer.

I need more detailed directions, Burgerdog :p

Go down the stairs, climb the right side of the room once you're in the area with all the catwalks. Immediately to your right you should see a small room, go in, take a left, follow the bridge and it will lead you to two chests.

xCobalt said:
I believe Midnight Helix is where you encounter the first prisoner gorecyclops.

Correct, it's also the room where you get the first void key at the top of the room. Oh, there's another gold chest up there, I got a lv3 gear or novelty item from it.

Thanks Burger.

The Immortal Coat is level 2 by the way. I think there should be one level higher than Shadow — I'm basing this on the fact that I have shadow boots and a second armor that looks the same but has better stats

I got Traitor's Armor, Grave Robe, and Shadow from it. I think Oblivion, Hellfire, and whatever the mage one is called might be from Daimon chests only. Let me know what you guys find.

If you read the description of Oblivion and Hellfire, it states that it's even better than the 13 fabled items. So it's definitely like an unofficial lv4 gear(unofficial because it's still a lv3 cursed item.)

Ahh interesting. I believe Oblivion is the set that looks identical to Shadow but is shaded slightly darker.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
So I haven't gotten Dark Arisen yet, but if I were to start my NG+ on Hard mode with the OG DD disc(beat the game last year but want to try Hard mode), could I easily just load my game when I do get Dark Arisen? I'm itching to jump back in tonight, but I'll hold off if this won't work.

Correct, I have both gauntlets DF(red) and here is how they compare.

Oblivion:
108 defense
95 magic defense

Shadow:
92 defense
78 magic defense

Piercing, element etc are all a tiny bit better on Oblivion, too.

Was the bitterblack armor always a chest piece or were you looking for a specific weight to it?

Hm, it was the heaviest piece of cursed gear that I had seen so I just saved after I got it. It was 3.65. Not having any luck?

Yeah, currently have both Heaven's Keys and Ascalon Gold DFed. Definitely having a much easier time with most monsters, but yeah I still get my butt kicked by the Elder Ogres. I think the only time I can do major damage to it is when my pawn casts any sort of lightning spells to it.

I still have no idea which area you are talking about :(

Also, how many days do chests take to respawn or are you guys just reloading the save until a level 3 pops?

Go to the courtyard with the moon gem doors. On the righthand side of the area is a door (its green), the first one you see when you go down the stairs. The very last section of that area is midnight helix

I always do a week, it respawns everything on BBI as far as I know. Makes it easy to dragon forge stuff against dark bishop/cursed dragon. It could be less, though.

Welp beat the final boss. Only took about two tries and 4 wakestones but man, I was pissed off the entire time. Luckily my main pawn was getting up on his grill and stabbing him to death.

Very hard to get major spells off and man if the basic spells didn't do much damage. The boss himself made me feel like I was taking part in a final battle from a Capcom fighter. Guy was dancing and kicking all over the place.

Also, if your Pawn is a Ranger named Helios than you need to sit that dude down and have a talking. Guy didn't do shit during the final battle. Didn't fire one arrow or anything.

well not really...yet

Its cool that a player could take this advice literally in this game. lol.

I'm gonna try killing Daimon, saving in front of the chests and reloading until I get a higher-weight armor drop. I really wanna find out where the Oblivion and Hellfire coats come from.

I'm early on in a NG+ so no godsbane. :(

Ahh ok. Thanks.

Now, where art thou Abyssal Eye?

It drops from the Gazer. You could probably backtrack from the first shortcut and encounter it. It dropped like four of them for me.

I'm not having any luck with the blood red crystals. I went into one of the arenas and it was 6 or 7 strigois along with some harpies and gargoyles. Didn't get any from that encounter.

What's the best place to farm gold? I can't remember, does Ur Dragon drop a ton of gp?

Prophet which notice board had that? Maybe I've got a hellfire cape sitting in storage... Eh
