First Screenshots of Telltale's (TWD) The Wolf Among Us

yeah the actual good ones.

TWD doing well sales-wise don't mean it's now the only way to go for them, this is like saying From Software should abandon all their games and genres and just make Souls games forever because that the only thing they made and sold well, sad thing is Telltale were the only company that was still doing adventure games in this day and age,now they are doing David Cage's style movies,oh well.
The problem is, "David Cage movies" apparently sell better in this day and age.

I never played any telltate game. Anything good gameplay wise ?
Not TWD. The story is good, but the gameplay is mostly awful. Not very good designed IMO. Their other titles are better.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
As a side note I think FMV gets way too much scorn. There were some bad FMV games, but there are bad games of every type. It's just that FMV wasn't the revolution in interactivity people expected.

GK2 stands up quite well today. God that game was so fucking amazing. I wish I could experience it for the first time one more. Such a beautiful story.

And that segues back to A Wolf Among Us. Some people don't like the direction Telltale has taken in less interactivity and little to no puzzle solving. However, right now is easily the best time for adventure games, with so many different styles and degrees of gameplay and puzzle solving present in a wide variety of graphical forms.

Adventures were always about storytelling. Telltale isn't pretending that their games are hardcore traditional point and click games, so I have no problem with what they're doing.
Right, and an adventure game that everyone heralds, Gemini Rue, takes the same route; emphasis on storytelling, puzzles don't stand in the way. I think there's value in accepting that the puzzle gameplay of old adventure games doesn't have to be treated like scripture.

Those screenshots look amazing.

And TWD gameplay isn't that different from all the other TT games using the same engine. It's the art style and story that makes it great.

bummer, their The Walking Dead thingy was very bad as bad as Heavy Rain,I don't get why it sold maybe because of the amc TV show?

hope they return to their old style soon.

Actually their game made me watch the TV show.

After watching it, i still consider the game 10 times better in terms of story characters etc.So there's a slight chance you got something wrong :)

The screens looking amazing if they are real. Either way I'll be buying this day one (and playing them once the final episode has been released).

I love the comics and the art style looks delicious.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
I love the visual style.

Pity the game itself will be broken in some way and Telltale will never patch it. :p

all these people saying mike mignola....

...maaann why did they pick up this wack fables license. imagine if they made a BPRD game in this vein whoa

This shot gives me a Streets Of Rage feeling for some reason.

Just imagine a new Streets Of Rage....sigh.

That has to be concept art, no? It's Telltale we're talking about after all.

Looks interesting though, and I'm glad Telltale finally has realized they can't make p&c adventures worth a damn.

If those are actual screenshots and not concept arts then color me impressed. When I first glanced at this on Facebook feed I though those are panels from a comic book.

Screenshots look great but i'd like to see some video to have a better idea of how it looks.

Contrary to The Walking Dead, which didn't interest me at all due to the zombie setting, i'm starting to get really excited for this one.

Looks great. Definitely keeping my eye on this.

EDIT: did a little background check on the comic book series. Sounds very exciting.

They've really got the fables look down. The screenshots look pretty impressive and close to the books styles & colouring.

I just hope TellTale have improved their engine reliability and customer service this time around. I have such a mixed view of that company when it comes to how they conduct themselves.

If those are screenshots then the game will be a point-and-click adventure game with some frame-animation or whatever it's called. It won't be a fluid animation system, like The Walking Dead.

"The Wolf Among Us hopes to change that with high-action, cinematic fight sequences. "
"But don’t expect to walk around throwing punches at anyone you please. The fights are narratively motivated, similar to those in The Walking Dead, but give players more control. “Bigby is a fighter and he’s a badass, and so the fight sequences will be much more player-driven...and way more over the top,” Kaufman says. Players are tasked with decisions in the middle of the action that provide more control over the fight’s outcome. Because Bigby’s a Fable, he can take more punches in quick-time fight sequences than Lee Everett ever could in The Walking Dead. “One of the awesome things about Fables is that [they’re] hard to kill, so that means we can have really slam-bang cool fights that are fun, visceral, get adrenaline flowing...and then we get that coupled with the consequences,” Kaufman adds."

This looks great. I'm so excited. Pretty much an instant buy for me.

I know nobody from TTG can actually comment on unannounced games, but I seriously hope they're working on another Sam & Max title. I know TWD brought in lots of money and was super successful, but Sam & Max will always be my favourite of theirs, so I hope the runaway success of their later licenses doesn't spell the end for the series.

hopefully it keeps it's bullshit politics out of the game. really nice screenshots tho

lol yeah when I first read the series maybe 3-4 years ago I just read that stuff as part of this "twisted fairytale". I figured some characters would have particular politics, and these people from a fantasy realm would have antiquated and militaristic values. It wasn't until I started following Willingham on twitter and he started linking to conservatives and live blogging Republican Presidential Conventions. I haven't read the series since so I don't know if knowing what I know now will effect it. I mean it's not hard to create support for a metaphorical Isreal when the enemy you create is fucking Hitler.
