People disappointed about the graphics, don't forget it's a cross gen title, and an early next gen title anyway.

And people saying it's not next gen cause it looks like a PS3 title. I do'nt think we saw how it looks on PS3 ?? What if this is (i wouldn't be surprised) a f*cking calamity ? That wouldn't surprise me if the game is actually pretty demanding in term of content and scope. Also remember the Ubi comment about Assassin's Creed ps4 version and the no loading transition possible with it. The experience in Watch_Dogs could be pretty different on current consoles.

Now i'll be disappointed if there are performance problems on PS4, but that would be an optimization and tool problem for sure. There will always have some at the beginning.

Don't forget Drive Club which looked exactly like car games you can buy today.

Indeed, basically the same with 15x the polys, high rez textures, better light, dof, environments. Same thing.

It looks close to what car games of today look like in their respective photo modes :p If any case they haven't shown much gameplay yet, a few seconds at most at the reveal.

This thread shows why the producers always favor the prettiness over the framerate and gameplay in the AAA games of today.

well I just watched it, and it looks pretty cool.

I thought the hacking maybe a bit deeper, but it somehow seems a bit simple, no ?!

well the narrative and the possibilities of stopping crimes before they happen is pretty much interesting.

I can still see similarities to Assassin's Creed series, from the design to some of the HUD elements, I hope it turns out better and doesn't turn into a yearly franchise.

Look at it more like a RPG where hacking is a skill value you level up that opens up possibilities.

That is cool, but how you hack is just one click, rather than a mini-game, on a 2nd thought with hacking being the forefront of the game, I think the devs didn't go with mini-games so it won't grow old.

I think this looks like something between PS3 and PS4. Which if true is good, because PS3 buyers get a better idea what to expect.

I think it will look better by the time of PS4 release.

Exactly.

So much bitching over graphics when this game clearly looks one of the best open world games announced.

Outside of the graphics, it does very cool stuff and changes how you play open world games. Controlling the world with your phone and taking advantage of it... that is what I call EPIC.

As long as the game runs smoothly without FPS drops then I will be very very happy.

The bitching is driven by the fact that last time they showed off the game, it looked better. What they showed now is a downgrade, and people naturally wonder why that is. The only saving grace is if this is the actual PS4 version/configuration and that the PC version looks better (it should).

I hope you will buy the PC version.

Because console open world Ubisoft is not exactly top of the bill.

Oh is this going to be 60fps? That would instantly make me forgive the not-so-impressive footage shown here.

For console? I doubt it, even for PS4. Although I wish Ubi went smart and sacrificed graphical quality for framerate.

Yea it will be PC version for me, prefer it for multi plat games.

Celebrate? That should be a standard and expected reason.

Did they say if this game is playable offline?

I don't care for the "single player connected" shit.

I believe I read in one of the most recent interviews that they said there would still be a game if you aren't connected.

I for one am really excited for their connected single-player, and also what they're doing for MP. It sounds a bit like Dark Souls so far.

Am I the only one who didn't like the gameplay? Looks like one of Ubisofts typical god mode games like Splinter Cell and Assassins Creed. Hacking everything with the press of a button, jumping around like crazy and slomo shooting...

Yeah looks like this will be yet another soulless and bad game from 1000 strong Ubisoft team. Not surprising.

Not that impressed actually. I was afraid the game was gonna be a typical Ubisoft game and it looks to be the case. Looks fun and has good ideas, but ultimately it's a shallow, borderline casual game (Assassin's Creed, Far Cry 3). I'm gonna play it, but I'm keeping my expectations low (like I should have done with the aforementioned games) or I'm bound to be very disappointed again.

Wow, so hostile over a game jesus. Hint: saying a game isn't out yet so let's not judge it, is an awful excuse.
And most of the things you mentioned even if they aren't in AC are in other open world games.

Using a train to get away? Infamous done it.
Slow-mo shooting? Everywhere.
Stalking targets and deciding whether or not to bother? Assassin's Creed!
As for the gun shop bit, one of the previews said that was scripted.

And there is no point in using Sleeping Dogs or Far Cry 3 to defend it as I see them both as pretty overrated (especially Far Cry 3, where I'd say it's obvious AC influences hurt it more than helped it).

You obviously A) never played sleeping dogs and Far Cry 3, or B) are not understanding my point. Sleeping dogs local is based off of a real place aka HONG KONG, Watch Dogs based off of Chicago, all of Chicago. Sleeping dogs had you using your phone to trace phone calls for hideout's, and stakeouts, also you used it to hack into security camera's. That's why I made the connection to Watch Dogs. Also sleeping dogs wasn't perfect, but it was a damn good open world game. It also was a game that had a bad development history as another game. People judged it before it came out.

That's what I was saying in my analysis of watch dogs to sleeping dogs.

As for Far Cry 3 go look at reviews, outside of the bad story, it has some awesome villains, great local, and took ques from Assassins creed with the tower's. It was even in an interview with a Ubisoft Representative, that they took some ques from other franchises. Which in their case since they use all their assets including their studios in San Francisco.

BTW Infamous really? Infamous yes you could use a train, but you didn't get inside it, you sued your powers to power it and rode on top. You actually can summon it to stop, by using your phone, then start it up again once your either inside it or on top.

Or you can use your phone jack a car, and start changing street lights, using electric baracades all that stuff. The scripted part happened because of your progress in the game, if you had done nothing to anybody, I doubt you would have shown. The scripted part is if you go into a store after having some kind of effect on the city.

I didn't mean to come off as hostile, but you are saying what every other person who is judging it, same way people judged Sleeping Dogs, or even Dishonored. Both games were great.

I think yes there are some similar elements in Assassins creed, but so aren't there in Naughty Dog games, like Uncharted to The last of Us, Heavy Rain to Beyond:Two souls.

When the same developer usesthe same tools, and engines things will stick out. But don't use that as a bases for judgment on a game that's not even in Beta yet.

Has any gone back and compared to the very first reveal demo?

Pretty hard to compare since that demo took place in a significantly different lighting and weather conditions. Nighttime and rain/wet ground typically always ends up looking better than the daytime sections which is why you get so many people saying that it looks like a downgrade when it very well could be exactly the same.

I don't know, seems like a noticeable drop in overall visual quality to me. I would really love to see some current night gameplay in order to get a glimpse of the lighting and effects at work in the current build. Here is what we were shown last year:

I want this game. This game looks better.

So basically when the game was revealed everyone went OMG UBISOFT WHAT AN AMAZING NEXT GEN GAME WOW! And now that it's been confirmed to be a current gen game with upgraded visuals for next gen the game suddenly looks like ass and sucks? GAF can be pretty weird at times.
It still looks like Assassin's Creed Modern Day to me but it seems interesting enough, I certainly hope it won't be AC3 all over again since I'm cautiously interested in AC4, after AC3 the AC brand doesn't interest me as much.

It's funny because after the reveal I immediately knew and said it would be a current gen title :b

Does this run at 60 fps on ps4 then?
It's a youtube video , you can't notice the framerate in those...
It's supposed to be one of the first ps4 games and you complain about people dissecting the graphics, funny.

Anyhow, the game looks really really derivative (some cover based shootbanging, AC/far cry3 chores , 'unlocking' areas of the map, bullettime)

The draw distance is frigging DIRE as well ,I hope it's not like that in the final game, definitely does look like a current gen game with better lighting and effects (because it is a cross gen game)
I'll have to rewatch the original reveal video but the draw distance didn't seem THIS bad in that one from what I remember, that awful dof covering it up is an eyesore

Thnis looks like a real next-gen game at launch for the first time in a long time.

Last time we had a real next-gen game at launch was the original Halo with Xbox.

I don't really care about PS4, to be honest. You have Killzone for that. I want games with a good story, fun to play. I surely hope this game can sustain 60 fps at list on PC. If the reason for complaining is that this does not look good enough for PS4, don't buy it for PS4.

Downgrade? They were showing basic side missions and activities, which are usually not going to look as impressive or come off anywhere as exciting as a big shootout at night in the rain in the heart of the city with a large gas station explosion immediately after a huge multi-vehicle crash scene at an intersection.

I'm not seeing the downgrade. All I see is less eventful gameplay footage.

People are trying to judge how capable (or not ) ps4 is off of the early games, like every gen, it's curiosity. I'lll play bayonetta (ugly graphics) over any other console game any day so it's not like I'm not on your side normally.

I've noticed in this gif and it the lastest gameplay trailer that little touches like the rain and how it doesn't splash off the cars is missing

Next gen my arse :p

This is true. The reveal used a story mission probably from the early game and those get way more attention that some random "buy ice cream" missions.
