This just speaks of some poor management decisions being made. And Kaz Yamauchi seems to be the Godfather of poor management decisions

Can you imagine if MS released a Halo game for 360 this year instead of Durango?

Or if Nintendo had released Mario Kart or Smash Bros for the Wii at the same time WiiU launched?

That's still dumb as shit. Why not release it on ps4 or even port it over?

There's always been two GT games on every PS console. Releasing it on the PS4 would cannibalise sales of Driveclub and would reduce the sales of GT6 significantly. It makes perfect sense to release this on the PS3.

I get Sony's strategy here. But it goes against GT's legacy of being on the cutting edge of technology. It's going to be outclassed visually at the time of release by one of Sony's other driving games.

That isn't right.
Still Day 1

GT4 came out in the same generation of 2 more powerful systems.

Seeing New Super Mario Bros U sales probably they should...

Or a Pokemon game for the DS last year when the 3DS needed help....

They will not release GT7 either on PS4, because it will cannibalize the sales of DC2/3 etc.?
It would NOT reduce the sales of GT6, cross platform yo!

I just feel sorry for DriveClub, we might see and want the advantages on here but to the general masses they aren't going to want to pick up a new console for some random new driving game next to Gran Turismo Launch.

They should have really just let Evolution use the GT name, having a GT on each system even if it isn't a proper one would have gone a long way to helping the new IP out.

It took them 5 years to release GT5 after GT4, I don't count the silly demos and prologue, so we're looking at 2017-2018 for full GT7 release if they follow their previous slow development turn around, which is just going to be silly.

Drive Club now has a wide open run as the 'show-off' racer for PS4 adopters.

Drive Club would be doa if a GT launched anywhere near it on PS4.

Drive Club may be not the racer for the people who looks for a closer GT experience.

We already now is more of an arcade racer.

This move makes that a good number of customers will be stuck with a PS3 for months...

SCE never abandons their home console just because the next one is coming out. This shows not only their consumers that they're invested in PS3, it also show publishers that as well. Plus GT6:p on PS3 has been known for a while. Give the PS3 owners something they love and PS4 owners something new with DriveClub.

PS3 has a ton of support coming like GTAV, GT6, LBP3 and so on.

Amen. Haters head back under the bridge.

I'm actually starting to wonder who the fuck is running things back in Japan. Wouldn't be surprised if the yamaguchi aren't leaning on a few shoulders.

DriveClub doesn't play like GT.

Next up: Uncharted 4 on PS3.

That would be....horrid.

I mean I don't understand how you launch a new platform
I do, but it's idiotic
while releasing your undisputed largest franchise on the old platform.

It's ridiculous. Sony should have launched God of War II on PS3. Nintendo was *smart* in launching Zelda TP on Wii. Nintendo should have launched Zelda SS on the WiiU. Microsoft would neeeeeeeever launch Halo 4 on 360 this year.

It's just a wrong decision.

Exactly. This screams Sony of Japan decision making.

The problem goes all the way back to Kaz taking so god damn long to get the first GT on PS3 though. That put everything behind schedule. This game should have been out earlier, and it would have been fine. This fall is just silly from a strategy perspective.

Of course it will make them lots of money, so I see why they want to put another GT on PS3, but the timing is not strategically smart.

Or a Pokemon game for the DS last year when the 3DS needed help....

Exactly, yet I didn't have a problem purchasing Black 2 for my 3DS because it was BC.

There is a good chance GT6 won't be BC.

You should see how many people who I know never purchased a PS4 just wanted to get a PS4 since they expected BC to play an entire gen of PS3 games.

I didn't bother letting them know of whether BC was in or not because I would have liked to see them put their money where the mouth is, as I think it was just bandwagon hype for PS4.

Anyways, with GT6 releasing on PS3 why is everyone so frustrated when there is a good solid chance that a year later GT6: A Spec will release on PS4.

People are forgetting how Japan works. Expect PS3 to be getting a flux of Japanese support for the next couple of years and smaller J publishers reluctant to support PS4 from the get-go.

Putting GT6 on PS3 is more of a symbolic move than anything that show they are not done with the PS3. I think someone already mentioned that they don't need to put GT6 on PS4 for it to be outsold everywhere.

And honestly I am happy GT6 isin't coming on PS4 this holiday season. Imagine how many units Sony would theoretically ship out and a certain amount of people who would have been willing to pay for GT6 and want to play it just couldn't get access to it because there were not enough PS4 shipments.

The only con here is GT6 is running on six year old hardware, but its not like we can't be amazed when the spectacle of GoW:A came out earlier this year, along with Beyond:Two Souls at the end of the year.

Surprised nobody is complaining about Beyond:Two Souls coming on PS3 in October, likely a month before PS4's launch.

They are probably planning something, maybe an integration with a Gran Turismo for de PS4. Cant see them launching one of their main franchises on the PS3 and leaving it out of their brand new console thats launching at the end of the year. Maybe a Gran Turismo 6 Plus for the PS4 or something like that? We will probably hear about that on E3.

Its even more ridiculous if the rumours about PD not letting Drive Club be called Gran Turismo: Drive Club are true. Considering we won't see GT for years on PS4

They should have delayed DC when it was clear GT6 wasn't going to make it before PS4 was out. Any launch software is going to be shaky, it could all benefit from another six months. Motorstorm wasn't even launch and it was barely a game. GT6 at launch and DC in March would have been good I think.

There will probably be an enhanced version for the PS4, but that won't be released this year.

You're assuming DriveClub isn't a March game.

So what? Is that how sony makes these decisions?
I guess we can expect 3 uncharted games on the PS4. You heard it here first.

Yeah, I never understood those kinds of reasoning. Like it's some kind of written rule where they HAVE to follow it otherwise the company would go down in flames.

This. Or just have Evolution create something radically different from GT like Motorstorm was.

I don't understand why people are hating on Sony for making this a PS3 game. They want to make the most profit possible. With an install base of ~82 million they'd be dumb not to release on PS3

Can't wait to see the first screenshots and a trailer. PD are just the master of editing when it comes to trailers and videos. Dat 458 trailer still gives me goosebumps...
Curious about the level of customisation, even accounting for an eventual port of the modifications available in GT4 for standard cars, it would still mean a lot of stuff for the Premiums.
Also, finger crossed for pre-butchering Silverstone with the bridge section to be available. :)

Why should I give a shit about their profit margins? They make enough profit with each game to fund another five.

What's dumb is making your priority the sales of a friggin' PS3 game when you should be worried about the sales of your new hardware on which you are betting the farm on.
That's my view on it anyway.
