I found Sanctum to be pretty boring after an hour or so, like most tower defense games. It would seem my friends felt the same as no one has really suggested it since.

It's pretty boring solo I'll admit. Get a full group going and the planning stage and fps wave defending action gets pretty intense.

When it comes down to it, horde mode is a sort of tower defense, right?

Left 4 Dead 2 had those infinite survival modes with only medals as rewards, and Killing Floor has waves if I understand correctly. You're basically placing turrets who are humans with various powers which are weapons. :O

He did. I was there.

We got our fill after an hour.
Maybe you're just not interesting -enough-.

I've only ever bought cd keys directly from SimplyGames, I don't recall them ever splitting the keys off to a different site unless they've done it within the last few days. Ordered Sniper GW 2 and Dead Island Riptide from them as well with no problems. Used the site for years with no problems.

The name Jake was focused tested and people responded really well to it.

Jake Inc. (NYSE: JKE) and Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) today announced a new multi-year exclusive licensing agreement to develop and publish globally new usernames based on the wildly popular name Jake.

Under the agreement, EA will develop and publish new Jake-based usernames for a core gaming audience, spanning all interactive platforms, while Jake Inc. will retain certain rights to develop new usernames within the mobile, social, tablet and online game categories.

When pressed for info as to how the deal came together Jake Inc. suggested that the name Jake resonates well with the populace and licensing it exclusively to EA will allow them to focus on maximizing the yield from such a high profile product while not sacrificing quality.

That Manhunt 2 is Steam redeemable ?

It isn't; that's why I said R* needs to get to work (AFAIK it doesn't even have a registry listing).

Fun fact: Prior to Tony getting Amazon's paws on a DD version of the game a week or so ago, it hadn't been available digitally since Direct2Drive was swallowed up by GameFly in May 2011.

I'm interesting enough to make it through the entirety of Borderlands 2 and Dead Island with the same group.

Damn, I just burned Sanctum pretty damn hard with that.

That you did.

I just give Sanctum credit for successfully merging tower defense and fps. Both elements work together as well as they should here (similar to what orcs must die did with it being essentially a tps + tower defense). If that's not your thing then that's entirely your prerogative.

It was probably the sterile art that made it boring for you guys though right? Not gritty enough?

It'll be released on steam as a preorder bonus for Red Dead Redemption /itwillneverhappen

Seems I misunderstood then ;)

The art had nothing to do with how boring it is.

I think Iron Grip does a much better job of combining Tower Defense and First Person Shooters.

Sanctum? The game looks like a UT3 mod, with some of the most bland-looking weapon models and textures I've seen in about ten years. The game launched with a handful of maps. There's no "oomph" or feeling of impact when the creeps get hit.

Amateurish, janky, unpolished.

For me, OMD! did everything better.

Gifts become tradable after a Steam account has been in good standing for at least 30 days. This gift will become tradable on 15 Jun 2013. See the Steam Trading FAQ for more information.

So annoyed, wonder what flagged me? traded tons of games in the past
Kinda ruins the whole 2 for 1 deal.

Oh boy Valve are awesome! I bought two of the Dota 2 t-shirts from the store but alas one began to fall apart after the first wash. After putting a ticket in asking if I could get maybe a voucher for my next order they went one further: Sent me a completely free new replacement t-shirt by DHL Priority which should be here in the UK in a couple of days.

Amazing!

I was about to buy a shirt or two and how are the sizes? I'm usually a medium or a small, and if it's a nice shirt that fits well and doesn't shrink I'm a small, but if it's a cheap shirt from target or whatever then I end up getting a medium. Are they nice and fitted or just whatever t shirts?

It seems like we may never see the AO rated version that D2D were selling. Amazon is selling the M rated version. I am quite certain that the M rated version is using the graphics filters from the Wii version to suppress the violence that takes place during the execution sequences.

I'll play it some time and see whether or not you are objectively wrong.

It says it's the AO version on the site, do you know for sure that it's the M version?

I love how the most common reason someone may not like a non-AAA/indie game nowadays is because they only like "über HardcoreXXX PAW PAW PAW BOOM BOOM BOOM gritty ultra mature brown" games. Said reason can also be replaced/extended with "You don't like X game? You probably buy every iteration of Call of Duty then, you're what's wrong with games today!"

Lamest way ever of defending your favorite crappy game.

But look how much brown is in Iron Grip!

and before that he was talking about borderlands and dead island.

It's not gritty so much as it is ugly. The gameplay is still better, though.

This is bordering on some pretty hard projecting at this point. Whether something is "gritty" has absolutely no bearing on if I find a game appealing.

And I hate those games, especially the aesthetics.

It's a Quake 3 based game. You can't avoid that style.

Then why does it say on your Steam profile that your favorite sex position is the "Screaming Seagull"???

So totally owned.

Took the plunge on Anomaly 2 prior to it being released; if anyone is interested in the 2nd copy PM me; $7 or a steam key is fine.

Also, all this talk of FPS/TD hybrids has me thinking about an old PS2 game. Can't remember the title but you had a small group of 3-6 characters and you'd move them across each level in a turn-based format with each turn ending in a single first-person view shot from the weapon they are carrying that you had to perform (aim and whatnot). Anybody remember the title or know of a PC game that would have a similar mechanic? I know something like Xcom is close but this was much less strategy-intensive and required you to make the shot as opposed to it being automated.

Lego Batman 2, yay or nay?

Yay. It's something of a sharp departure from the previous Lego games in that it's open-world rather than hub-based, and from the little I've played of it, the voice acting isn't jarring and actually fits well with the children's cartoonesque nature of the game.

I'm not much of a fan of MS Paint. Guess that makes me a fan of brown AAA software.

I don't know, does it?

You act like you've never heard people complain about "clean" art before. I know I'm not making this up. People often misjudge minimalist art as boring, I know this happens.

Ok, I'll buy it.

That might be the only reason for me to get GTA5.

I really hope there are no hats or other enticing pre-purchase incentives because I'd prefer to see how the port is before purchasing the game.

Edit: Bah, forgot to switch tabs.
