Rumour: Resident Evil 7 unveiling at E3, leaked poster inside

All ill say story wise is let capcom "end" the series somehow. Then they can go reboot it if need be. Besides that's one hell of a seller if you say you're closing up the franchise story wise. Would turn the game into a event especially if they bring back all kinds of old characters.

That might be the fakest picture I've ever seen.

Not to mention it's way too early for a new RE. RE6 is barely half a year old!

This would be a next-gen game. They did this with RE5. Pretty sure it was announced crazy early at some Capcom event when the 360 was still "Xbox 2".

If this is legit it wouldn't be surprising at all. And it'd be good. RE6 is hot garbage. They need to announce 7 early so we can tell them what to absolutely not do. 6 was announced waaaaay too late.

Even if it was true, it would be too soon and I would have zero faith in it. As someone who hates the direction RE has taken since 4, I very much enjoyed RE6 on its own merits. Still, I'd be the last one that ever wanted another one of those, it's just not Resident Evil anymore.

Yes it is. Many gamers are pissed by the low quality of the last entries.

The series is still selling and many less vocal people are enjoying the hell out of the new games. The series is fine, the old fans just don't like it anymore. But that's fine to Capcom, they've already been replaced.

It really isn't.

The rate that RE6 collapsed in sales was horrific.

RE6 will never sell out its first shipment. That indicates terrible word of mouth.

When a topic title says "Poster inside, and I click the topic.. and all it has is a link to another website.. . with another link.

I don't think that qualifies as poster inside. Its in the 4th post but damn it.

How would you guys feel if they were to give Billy Burton his own game set in Canada, in the middle of Canada's own outbreak, running and hiding with his wife and daughters, trying desperately to keep them safe?

EDIT:
All they need to do is have Barry as the main character and all the old fans come in droves.

Sorry, didn't see this.

RE 6 had much lower sales than Capcom expected, they are definitely not fine with it. On top of that it gets extremely bad word of mouth in the gaming community and that is going to hurt them in the long run, nobody needs a poor mans CoD/Gears of War/whatever mix, there are much better alternatives on the market for that kind of game.

Might be true to a point. But the terrible word of mouth was more aimed with the terrible review scores early on. It had nothing to do story wise. Plus with all the fire sale on the game Id day its safe to assume more people are jumping in to at least try it now. I just wonder how RE:R will sell. Can't compare it to a main game like 6, but I think it'll be a good indicator of the health of the series in a way.

Sorry but the bold says you didn't actually play RE6 or that you didn't know what you were doing in it. Such is the case with most people who talk shit about the game.

Announcing games many years before release definitely has fallen out of fashion in the last years. I doubt any publisher was happy how the early years of the current generation turned out. Just ask SE if it was a good idea to announce Versus.

More importantly, RE5 came after what was critically the most acclaimed game of the franchise. RE7 on the other hand follows a game that failed to meet expectations both sales-wise and critically. Capcom will make sure not to show RE7 until after people forgot about the RE6 disaster and until they've got something to show that is convincing.

What does that matter? The whole series plot is terrible. RE4 is great because it revels in the foolishness.

Too much damage has been done to story and gameplay. This series needs a reboot..

Absolutely not. RE6's stellar mechanics and not-so-great other stuff actually sets up RE7 to be an incredible sequel. The only question is if Capcom capitalizes or not by keeping what worked and improving everything else.

6 was the first RE in the entire series I played and couldn't finish....This needs to end and reboot or leave it alone for a long while.

Who am I kidding Capcom will milk the bitch dry.

I played it and it was not only a bad RE but also a at best mediocre shooter. Clunky controls, hectic, confusing shootouts because of the camera which was far too close, useless cover system, laughable enemies etc.

Not even talking about atmosphere, leveldesign, story or other shitty aspects .

That was more directed to his early post saying the story was a problem that needed a reboot. Sales wise that's not the case with either 5 or 6.

After playing RE6 I never want to touch another RE game in that vein. So bad. I thought RE5 was pretty bad but RE6 showed me that there was a way to make it even worse.

Capcom really needs to fix the series or I'm going to ignore it like I do modern Final Fantasy.

I think you have a point, but you're exaggerating a little. SE is the exception, not the rule. I would've picked, say, Take-Two. They tend to announce things and then go dark for years, but they do go dark. SE lets their producers put their mouths in magazines every month.

And we still don't have the games (or that one game.)

A lot of trends are on their way back though, I think, because it's a new generation. A lot of titles will be announced too early, there'll be more platform exclusives (timed or whatever), etc etc. And that stuff will fade out after a couple years just like this gen, but it will become prominent again as the audience moves over to the new consoles.

So you were playing it wrong and you blamed the game for being bad. Okay then.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
PLEASE let it be a complete REAL reboot.

edit: And the logo looks fake as hell.

Its problem for most people is exactly that is isn't a Gears rip off in terms of mechanics and controls. If you try to play it like Gears though you're sure to think the way you do. Resident Evil 6 really shows how much games like Gears and CoD have homogenized expectations of combat. If you're going to separate only the mechanics it's easily the best, and most complex TPS of the generation aside from Vanquish.

The seven logo looks a lot better than the one in 6, although as people mentioned the super compressed(in comparison) Capcom logo makes it seem like a clear fake. Hopefully they have some plans in the work though, Resident Evil 6's gameplay and combat mechanics have the potential to really be part of an incredible game if they can focus more in the next game.
