Once again confirming, the controller is the console.

Rumour has it Sony will have a ps4 ad for the Champions league final on Saturday so I would not be shocked if they post the ad on the PS Blog earlier in the week for you know...... reasons. Maybe they will tease the console form factor?

Also the xbox thread is starting to get messy. GAF is going to be a blood bath this week no matter what happens tomorrow.

Damn you, Demon. I saw your avatar and that E3 DS4 pic (I have MasLegio on ignore) and thought it was your latest epic GIF for a second. Had me excited. :p

I put the first frame on a 5 minute freeze - keep watching

edit - been messing around with ideas for countdown gifs... might be fun for the PS4 stuff coming soon ;)

Five minute first frame, eh? Smartass. :p

Great idea regarding the countdown gifs. There's 20 days to go. Twenty's a nice round number, you could start today! Maybe incorporating the XMB waves?

waves? I had that in mind :p

I honestly don't know how much time I will have to make gifs to the run up to E3 so starting now is going to be a big ask haha

I'll drop a gif when the time is right

Fair enough. Maybe a ten day countdown, then? There's definitely footage of ten next gen games out there. Whenever it starts, looking forward to it. :)

Lucky one. You manage to buy one, when amazon accidently put it on sale?

no, national webshop (webhallen.com in sweden)

will probably buy it somewhere else though. Import from UK would be cheaper but I would not get it day 1. If I imported the PS4 from the UK I probably would be able to get the console + 1 extra controller and one game for the same price as buying the console in Sweden.

According Playfront, Sony India updated by error his PS4 page given a price of 399€ with 250GB.
The site http://www.sony.co.in/product/playstation+4+250+gb doesn't work now.
Error ? Fake?
The strange is that Sony said that every PS4 will come with a great capacity HDD.

I doubt that Sony has set a final price on the PS4 and i reeeally doubt that the HDD would only be a 250gb one.

Yea, was posted already, but maybe someone else didn't notice.
And well, 250gb is much higher than the ps3 hdds at launch, so maybe that's "great" enough for them to make such a statement. ;)

Yep. It will be at least 500gb. Cerny dubbed it "massive" in the PS4 presentation. Add to that the importance and focus on digital downloads going into next gen. I think it's going to be either 500gb or 1tb.

How much does it even cost for Sony nowdays to have a 500-1TB HDD instead of 250 in the machine?

I'm not the one to answer such a question, but you do have a point there regarding hitting a convenient price. In any case, I personally think the HDD will be very large, definitely not in the 250-300gb range.

Why? With the Vita they said they started out with the first target of being $250. You think they wouldn;t have started out with the PS4 with a similar goal of hitting a certain price target?

They'll know exactly what price they want to launch at. Market forces and perhaps the dollar/yen might influence that price somewhat. But they'll know what number they want.

The way 2.5" HDD prices go, it's always cheaper to go bigger. 1TB will be the new 500GB by the time PS4 comes out, and I'm sure Sony will let us put our own upgrades in (please).

Edit: Sorry guys, don't know how to merge and delete posts yet.

I think 250gb will be minimum they can ''get away with''. Supposedly PS4 is big on installing data while playing so depending how it works some part of the HDD needs to be locked for that.

I expect 500. I think there was even a rumour for that.

I'd hope that they have a 2TB model, preferably I would love if that had that 3TB Fusion HDD that the new iMac's have, where 256GB of it is SSD and the rest is for storage.

Games will get pretty big next-gen, and many will install to the HDD, so you're probably right.

I expect 500GB for the cheep sku, and 1TB for the expensive.

Sony target price given to developers months ago was between 350-450$

If the HDD drive isn't at bare fucking minimum 500 GB I'll literally say out loud "Fucking really, Sony?"

500GB standard, 750GB Premium and I'll be content.

250 gb is very small considering next gen content, especially since Sony explicitly said "very large hard drive"

They didn't mention that the massive local storage would probably be in the premium model ($499) rather than the starter model ($399).

It makes sense to go with the cheaper HDD for those that don't want to pay more than 400.

I actually think there might be only one model for Sony this time around at start. I think if they can hit 500gb 399$ model they'd go full speed with that for easier marketing ect.

250GB as an entry level size is absolutely sufficient, I don't understand how people can criticise this, when a) there will be a bigger model, b) you can probably upgrade the hdd c) the price is good and d) the ps3 starts at 12 (!) GB. Entry level does mean exactly that - entry level. They need to reduce costs to make a cheap price possible, and this is done by reducing a noncritical thing like hdd size, to an amount which will still have enough room for ~10+ games.

You people will be disappointed. I'm predicting a 250 gig proprietary hard drive on their cheapest sku. Larger hard drives will be available at inflated prices.

Unfortunately I think Sony learned a few things from Microsoft this generation.

12 gb PS3 is a stillborn and a joke

HDD size is critical if they want to sell digital content for 7+ years, casual Joe will not upgrade the drive on their own and if the drive gets full their purchasing will/capability will be affected.
