Remember when they were trying to make smartphones and consoles as small and elegant as possible?

Well, that was then.

Hate the grill on top. That thing will collect so much dust and will be a bitch to clean (like the grooves on top of the original Xbox).

As for the size, I don't know what you people were expecting. PS4 will be similar size, I can tell you that much.

I don't care how big it is, as long as it doesn't get more RLOD from heat. I've had to replace two 360s and one PS3 because of poor thermal design/manufacturing.

That may be one of the ugliest consoles ever. It's a dull box covered in serrated vents. And I disagree with anyone who says that's a sexy controller. It looks like a cheap 3rd party 360 controller that you could find on Amazon.

I am kind of amazed how underwhelming this system is. I was expecting the Kinect/casual/social stuff, but Microsoft seems to have completely screwed up on some other essential things. They could have at least showed a boring Call of Duty gameplay video or something.

And Xbox One? What kind of stupid name is that? I liked the name "Xbox Infinity" better and even that was awkward.

Even if the box is large, at least everything is in one unit. *

* Plus kinect, and the power brick, and your cable box, and your external hard drive and your 360 for BC.

I wonder if they've made it that much bigger because of the issues with the start of the 360 and they're overcompensating

I thought it looked nice during the reveal, but I had no idea how big both it and kinect were

I don't think it is. Judging by the teaser anyway.

We're talking modern architecture anyway. I think the Xenon processor in the 360 was using a 90nm process at launch. Compare that to the 28nm Jaguar architecture. Heat and power consumption is generally reduced by each die shrink.

The Jaguar architecture is designed for the ultra-low power and small form factor markets. I'm not sure it needs to be that big. Maybe there is more to it than that in terms of the Xbox One though.

I have a feeling it is more to do with making sure they don't have the RROD problems of the Xbox 360 than the necessity of the architecture.

Or maybe they made the 360 with Japan in mind but this time they don't care.

Am I the only person that doesnt care at all what either system looks like? And look at the Wired article, it's not nearly as large as people think. Do people live in cardboard boxes where the size of a video game console is something they need to consider?

It looks serviceable enough. It reminds me of NES and is a product of industrious design with sizeable vent. At least, it won't overheat.

No, I live in an Apartment. I'll be moving into a new abode built atop my new Xbox One come the holidays.

What are the actual measurements? Shouldn't be hard to figure out by comparison with the disk slot and standard-sized ports on the back (but I'm too lazy to do it).
