Perfect response.

I don't buy used games, historically. And generally, I'm always connected. But this still bugs the hell out of me, since it sounds like I won't really own the game any longer. The physical copy means nothing.

The thing that blows me away the most is what a giant Fuck You this is to our service men in the Middle East. And lots of these guys are passionate about Xbox and served as de facto evangelists for 360.

So exactly how often will I be required to have an internet connection?

Only on installs? Do I have to be signed into Xbox Live to launch those installed games? To continue playing them?

I am also wondering this. Also, if I authorize it and my profile in on the Cloud, can I use it on someone else console if I can have my content anywhere?

I've said it in another thread: Even when you think Microsoft has hit rock bottom you read more on Xbox One and it keeps getting worse. Jesus Christ.

What a goddamn mistake. They should've -never- talked about this until at least E3. The fact that they hid it outside of the conference is astounding.

Hubris all around.

Bish loves my games!
Always interesting to see some people will champion practices that have zero benefits to us consumers and will lessen the value of the games we purchase. I guess more people have MSFT stock than I expected.

My perspective is not that I champion their practices so much as it doesn't really bother me.

"It sits on your harddrive and you have permission to play that game as long as you’d like," Harrison said.

geez, thank you Mr. Microsoft. Do I have permission to enjoy it too or is than an extra fee?

wow, I guess console gamers really dig their used games

We dig renting games. We dig good sales. We dig being able to take our games to a friend's place without having to download our gamertag. We dig being able to play new games even if the internet is down.

But yeah, used games are nice too.

I'd wait for MS to comment on this because I smell BS. If they do this it would be no problem for me, but a huge problem for millions around the globe.

Sounds like Steam.

The difference is that Steam is an Online service. If I have a steam account I have a PC connected to the Internet. A console (or a stand-alone PC) is not an online service.

Not every PS3 or 360 is connected to the Internet. Everyone who wants to buy a console without connecting it to the internet (e.g. because none available) will not buy a One (or is in for a nasty surprise).

Sounds like steam but people will troll it anyways.

I can buy Steam games for next to nothing. Xbox One games will retail for $60 and you have to activate your disk online to play it, even if its offline/SP.

Thats BS and unlike Steam. We are talking retail game disks not XBox One game vouchers that will magically be cheaper than retail disks.

Is XBL not an online service?

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.
Everyone keeps saying "Sounds like Steam." Have you looked at MS's prices for Xbox Games on Demand recently?? Jesus.

So you will need Internet to activate the Keys so it's connected to your Xbox live account....okay. But
  1. What if you want to play on multiple account?
  2. Can you play offline since offline means no Xbox Live?

Did they talk about load times, whether you can start playing as it installs like the PS4?

Yeah I believe you can.

This isn't an issue for me, will take about 30 seconds to punch the code in (boy I hope we can use Kinect to do it though) and voila ... less time than I currently have to wait whilst install the game to my 360.

I wanna see exactly what set up they have for used games though.

And they need to cater to those that don't have internet, that phoneline idea was a good one although that is a bit .. reaching.

They should give every single user their own code, then if you decide to lend the game out to a friend you give them the code for them to be able to play it.

They all have serial keys? Jesus, like those things aren't going to get stolen at retail stores.

Wow that made me think of how Gamestop apparently guts copies of games sometimes thus making a new game buy from them just as bad a used one.

I like the idea of being able to take a disc and load it on your HDD but the down side is so down. Kind of like having sex with strippers. Yeah, she's hot but not sure I want to risk it. I don't even like selling games but damn, can't ignore the reaction. And it's a shitty thing to try and implement this. It's not needed.
