What if Sony does the same?

I know that Sony's philosophy seems to be on a complete different direction than what Microsoft is trying, what do you think it might happen to the gaming industry?

Edit:

To clarify, the same regarding:

Online checks at any period of time
Treatment of used games

I'll find other stuff to do. Just started getting into RC helicopters. They don't require online activation.

The question needs a bit more clarity - does the same what?

MS seems to be doing many things that are agitating people.

Regarding used games and connection: They've already said it is optional. And the thing with optional is that it's optional. I.e. not every publisher wants to risk their brand by attaching such restrictions

Regarding PS Eye etc: Likely will pack it in (though cheaper) so motion games should be available

Regarding the overall direction of the platform: Likely to be much more focused

People who ultimately love to play games will fall in line.

Same answer applies to the following hypotheticals, then:

"What if game prices are increased to $100?"

"What if you have to pay real money to reload a gun in a video game?"

"What if you must have always on requirements like SimCity but for all games?"

If Sony pulls the same crap that Microsoft has, I'll be a PC-only gamer next generation.

Online connection is not required.

They confirmed 2 times now.

“Did we consider it? No, we didn’t consider it. The main reason being that many countries don’t have robust Internet connections. It makes sense for people to have Internet connections to play online games, but for offline games there are many countries that we saw do not really have robust Internet.”

I personally think Sony is going to have a similar used game architecture put into place just like Microsoft. It makes no sense for one manufacturer to do something that drastic and not the other.

Then I won't buy a PS4 simple as that.

Sure. I liken this to all the peeps who yelled and vowed to never buy horse armor back in '05 lol.

The XBO isn't the console we want, but it's the console we deserve.

I for one don't go along with this any longer. But feel free to ridicule me by acting as if falling for a worthless DLC item and turning over your consumer rights is the same thing.

If they do, then my future is entirely about PC games, portables and maybe a Wii U (if nintendo gets their shit together).

I'm sure there are some who hope this happens with Sony just so they can get clowned on as well but right now, we have almost absolutely nothing about their plans for online and used games. Nothing definitive at least.

I'm more concerned over a constant online connection over used games.

The used games thing will still be a bummer, only because bringing games to play over at a friends house won't work like it used to. Disappointing.

I buy all my games new, so this is a step backwards and punishing people who buy new.
